Relaxing, quiet, and so many nice spots to enjoy the ponds, waterfall, spring noises of frogs, and foliage in the fall. I ride my bike or run or walk through regularly and enjoy it. I have also taken the kids to some of the mansion tours and the presentations about nature in the park building. Enjoyed those too.

The big Red Slide is so cool If you can stand the smell of the "beach" it's okay to sit on as long as you're 25-30 feet away from the water. DO NOT SWIM HERE! Apparently, the water is run off, from the Taunton River. Which I was not aware of at the time, though I was not surprised, IT SMELLS SO DISGUSTING!! The water looks yucky. Not your typical beach water. I have raised 6 children, so I'm not extremely sensitive to smells, that being said, I literally threw up A small amount of my nausea could be blamed for the Heat, But I normally tolerate the heat fairly well. I really wish I had read the reviews BEFORE I went here. A friend recommended it. So I didn't feel the need to...NEVER AGAIN! Not only that, while I was sitting on the "beach" I noticed a huge amount of very small children (2-5year olds) in the water & barely anyone watching them. So I counted...51 children in the water & only 6 adults? Most sitting on the "beach" That is 8.5 children PER adult, on average. Some of them had life jackets on, which I wouldn't think they would need if they were being watched? There weren't really any waves Although, that's just my opinion. Personally, I would never have taken all 6 of my children to the beach alone. I would have had another adult come with us. I didn't hear any "loud Music" or anyone yelling, arguing, or see any fighting, like I read in other reviews. The picnic tables were mostly taken up by Birthday Parties. Also, there is no where to change a baby, & only 2 toilets per gender. So plan accordingly! ‍I definitely expected better from Somerset!

The park is a vast area that includes a variety of different baseball, softball, and soccer fields. The local Little League as well as other groups have games here during the summer months. The park also has a nice playground in addition to basketball and tennis courts. All the facilities are in excellent condition and the entire complex is very well maintained. It gets crowded during the summer months when Little League games are being played, but there is plenty of parking. The park is very safe and has lots of families use it but on a couple of occasions I did see what appeared to be high school or even younger kids drinking, smoking and being quite rowdy by the wooded area. Curiously they seemed to be taking pictures of each other in curious and rather licentious poses and didn't seem bothered that groups of people were fairly close. But they didn't seem to be a danger to anyone but themselves. Despite the young knuckleheads, the park is an excellent place to play or watch some sports. And no matter what you call the park, the wide variety of facilities assures that there is something for everyone here.

It's free and within the park that has swings nearby. You must climb a bunch of steps to get to the top and slide down. Adults and kids can go in it because it's huge. I'm in my 40s and I went on it a few times and it made me feel like a kid again while playing with my children. My wife went on it as well. Loads of fun. Def worth checking out if you're in the area.

The scenery is perfect for photography and there is even an old (and I mean OLD) rusty car along one of the trails. That, to me, was the highlight of the park. They let the grass grow tall throughout the summer allowing many birds and other small creatures to live there. Then they cut it short for the winter. Paths stay fairly clear, though they can get muddy after rain. Don't wear your best shoes here! Some paths head into the woods around the edge, so bring your bug repellent. My favorite part of the park is the rocks by the water and the grand view of the bay and the Standish Monument sticking up out of the trees in the distance.
