It's hard to pass by the humble little takeout window with the cheery staff. All their proprietary ice creams have a pronounced flavor profile which is unique. They rotate special ones to keep it all interesting. Expert tip: try a few first! One of my faves is Nutella, hubby likes peanut butter cup. They were sold out of Nutella tonight, so we chose the Spring flavors offered today of Banana Pudding, Twix, and then regular Ecuadorian chocolate and Peanut Butter cup. We splurged for the buy 3 pints get one free! We also noticed the InKind app has this establishment now, so an extra $10 off that! SCORE! It's all good here, so it's hard to make your final choice. I really want to love this place. A walk up window with an excellent server who allows you to try as many of the flavors as you would like to. Some regular flavors and some seasonal additions that all sound great. And it's ice cream. In a place known for unbearably hot weather ice cream is always good. But after several visits, I find myself disappointed and favoring an alternative choice. They have another flavors that I like. And they are good. But it price is where people have to think twice before ordering something as fundamental as an ice cream cone or a pint of ice cream to bring home, they should be far more than good. They should be the best you ever ate. But they simply are not. This is average ice cream at a chain restaurant at premium prices. The pints are not even hand packed so you're getting a portion similar to what you would get at a supermarket but paying three times as much per pint. After losing his job, Sweet Melody owner Michel Romeu entered the ice cream market in 2016 by making small batches of artisan ice cream. He named the business after his daughter. Sweet Melody makes all of their ice cream from scratch as well as any baked goods that go into it and toppings. They don't use any artificial colors or flavors. The 16 percent butterfat ice cream is made without egg yolks and can be described as having a rich and dense texture. An egg yolk French base is used for flavors like creme brûlée, key lime pie, and brownie batter. They offer signature, weekly, and seasonal flavors. I am a fan of Sweet Melody Ice Cream, just not this place. I was expecting more and I honestly feel a little let down. I have enjoyed Sweet Melody ice cream at Dessert Wars and at the Citadel in Little Haiti. I was way down in Kendall and detoured out of my way to come here. I was disappointed to find that this is a walk up window next to a dirty, smelly, tire shop. You ring a bell and they are supposed to come to the window but they left me waiting a long time. I could see the girl walking around inside ignoring me and I almost left but since I drove quite a bit out of my way I hung in and I guess she finally accepted that I wasn't going to leave and finally came over. I was really interested in the seasonal flavors, pecan pie and coffee coffee cake but they were only available in $12 pints which I find quite expensive. I only wanted a cone and that was limited to Kooki Monster, Ecudarian Chocolate, Abuela's Flan, and Bo & Jo's Guava Cream Cheese. I decided on the Kooki Monster, a blue vanilla ice cream with Oreos and chocolate chip cookies mixed in. I had it served in one of their cinnamon waffle cones which are delicious. It was a good dessert as always but I don't understand why they can't offer the seasonal flavors as scoops. If I had known that about this place I wouldn't have bothered to come. Next time I will head to their Coral Gables location for hopefully a better experience. The limited menu, smelly tire shop, and horrible customer service here left me cold. read more

Tried their Citadel location and was shocked at how good this ice cream is. I dont have high expectations for Miami in general, where most places seem overpriced, overly ornate in decor yet with little substance. That said, Melody was such an amazing surprise. The ice cream was almost chewy and stretchy with intense and rich flavor. It was soooo creamy. Their crunchy pistachio is easily some of the best I've ever had, right up there with the best Italian gelato. So why not 5 stars? At nearly $14 per pint with taxes, its hard to justify this except on pretty rare occasions. They should at least do some multi-pint deals, or maybe offer larger sizes to introduce just a smidge of better value to this delicious equation. Despite the high price tag, its hard not to highly recommend when the product is honestly exceptional. And Melody Ice Cream was exceptional. read more

A lil ice cream pick up window in Kendall. Of course, I always crave dessert after a meal so we had to stop by here after visiting Strange Beast a few doors down. Literally a hop & skip away, Sweet Melody has great ice cream that can please the masses. They have amazing flavors and sell some by scoops and some by the pint. If you don't see anyone at the window, there is a little doorbell you can ring for assistance. The girl helping us was really nice and helped us navigate the menu. I ended up getting a pint of the 50 shades of Early Grey because I LOVE earl grey ice cream. It had such a great flavor profile and came with chunks of butter biscuits, which really complimented the ice cream. Another friend got the Hella Nutella and it was good but had chunks of brownies and some hazelnuts in there which was good but wasn't as hella Nutella as we expected. I saw Sweet Melody on Instagram and had to give them a try. Prices are hard to find, so to save you some time- pints are $12 each, and buy 3 get 1 free. I decided take advantage of their deal and purchased 4 pints. Hella Nutella- This flavor I found unique and delicious, and I really enjoyed it. True to its description, it was loaded with hazelnuts and brownies. The texture was creamy but also sorta chewy. I didn't want to put it down. A must try if you like Nutella. Kookie Monster- Unfortunately I was underwhelmed by this one. I got half way through the pint and found only one tiny Oreo piece and one tiny chocolate chip cookie piece. I found it to be on the watery tasting side. It lacked creaminess. It felt healthy, which if that is the case, then I guess that's a good thing. But if I was looking for a rich and decadent ice cream experience, it would not deliver. I also wasn't crazy about all the artificial blue dye. I did realize that it was dyed when I was getting it, but as I sat and ate the bright blue treat my health conscious mind kept screaming to stop it. It left my lips stained blue, and though I know the color is part of the fun, I think maybe it would be cool if they offered a natural version for those who want to avoid artificial dyes. Cosmic Brownie - Also underwhelming. The flavor lacked richness and creaminess. It had a watery flavor to it. It had a good amount of brownies inside, so that was good and a saving factor. I didn't find many cosmic chips at all. Jon Dough - This one was PACKED full of maple cookie dough, although the ice cream itself also lacked creaminess. I discovered that I'm not a fan of maple, too. I really admire and respect what this small business owner is doing and wish him much success, but for me it was a miss. The prices are high. I spent $40 for 4 tiny PINTS of ice cream. I do believe it's handmade and the allure of different, super unique flavors each week is very cool. I'd pay this if the ice cream had tasted rich and creamy and wowed my tastebuds- but unfortunately it did not. If this is meant to be diet/low-fat then they are hitting their mark. We admire everything this business stands for, especially the story behind its name--it's truly heartfelt and inspiring. That said, despite our admiration, we've faced consistent disappointments. My wife and kids always encourage giving it another shot, but each time, the ice cream seems to have a freezer burn taste, which takes away from what could otherwise be an incredible experience. I've been shopping from this ice cream spot for about three years and i've never been disappointed. It's the creamiest ice cream I've ever had. Every (Seriously, EVERY) flavor is a hit. The owner mike is always involved, i've been both locations (Gables and Kendall location) and he's either cleaning in the back, or scooping up front. All staff has always been helpful, give the best recommendations and always serve with a smile. I tell everyone about this ice cream as it truly is the best i've ever had. Absolutely love the unique flavors that represent the Latin community in miami so well. My favorite had to be the coquito! Close second was the dulce de leche con pedazos de alfajores (my mouth is watering just thinking about it.) the guava was also yummy and would try again. However, idk who or why someone would add balsamic to the strawberry ice cream giving it such a sour taste. I was disappointed when I tried it bc it's not what I expected. Especially bc if they had listed balsamic vinegar as an ingredient on the tv menu I would not have chosen that flavor. It wasn't until I tasted it at home and saw it was listed as an ingredient on the pint that I realized this terrible mistake. The flavor of the chocolate ice cream reminded me of a Wendy's frosty but creamer and the rocky road was lacking in all aspects.
