We took a reide down Fenelon Place Elevator and stopped here for ice cream. Been here twice now when in Dubuque for baseball tournament and their ice cream flavors change. I had the Fat Elvis the first time, that was there the following year so I had to try the Jacked UpTennessee Toffee. Lots of candies, chocolates and a few other craft items for sale. Some seating inside. Just a fun place to stop for your sweet tooth. read more

Great little ice cream and sweets shop sitting at the base of the Fenelon Place elevator. It's a very unassuming shop that's run out of what appears to be an Old Town House. Upon entering, you're met at a counter that boasts 16 flavors of ice cream as well as 30 or more types of Handmade Chocolates, fudge and divinities. What type of ice cream you say! It's not a brand that I'd heard of, but it was something from Wisconsin and the logo with a cow eating some ice cream so I feel like it has some street cred. There was plenty of other stuff to keep us busy had we needed something to do. Lots of trinket type stuff that's worth looking at if you need a quick gift or dig that sort of action. A good find in the end, especially with the benches outside! read more

This is an awesome little hole-in-the-wall place that has candy, both handmade and bulk, delicious ice cream and souvenirs and gifts. There are several tables inside you could sit at or you could sit outside on the benches. The horse and carriage rides starts and stops here and it's just feet from the elevator that goes up and down the hill... A great local attraction. There are lots of other shops in this area that you can stroll around while you nibble on your candy. I particularly like the dark chocolate coconut clusters! read more

This was such a fun place to explore. Not only did they have great chocolates and other sweets, but they also had local artisans' goods.

An obvious stopping point before or after the Fourth Street Elevator, Sweet Memories is a lovely little store. It's lovely because of the location, employees and independent nature of the place, along with the ice cream and awesome sweets they sell. There is a lot of corn-ball crap on the walls that serves as artwork, but the chocolates and stuff they offer are great. I got a chocolate-covered Nutter Butter and a small sheet of their house-made toffee. Yum, sugar high. read more

This place was an absolute gem. We visited recently on a family trip to Dubuque. Yelp almost led us to a shop a few blocks away. However, we opted for this place because it was within walking distance from where we were staying. SO glad we did. Everything was charming about this shop: the decor, the coziness, the owner, the location, etc. the ice cream was great as well. I cannot speak enough nice things about this spot. The biggest appeal is that they have real ice cream and they're at the bottom of the awesome hill elevator so it's a natural stop. Beyond that, the guy who was working was really nice. That's all good. It is, however, insanely small and when it's busy you have to take your ice cream outside. That's not a big deal as long as you prepare accordingly. They have some corny and old-timey collectibles for sale, plus some post cards and a bunch of mix and match candy. They also had some candy I've never seen anywhere else which was a nice surprise. read more

Nothing special. A nice location at the bottom of the elevator. Overcrowded room with toys from the 80s and 90s and not enough places to sit. Mediocre ice cream. Overpriced. $3 for a single scoop. My wife's butter pecan was barely worth eating. Candy looked good, but we weren't really in the mood for it. read more
