If it wasn't for the flapping signs outside the shop, I would have never known about this bakery. It's very easy to miss because it's tucked away a bit. However, once you enter it, you are instantly transported. The decorations, the feeling, the mood, it all screams enjoy to your hearts desire. They have so many variations of cupcakes, cookies, and even brookies. I ordered the cupcakes and brookies and I have to say it is some of the best stuff I've had in my life. I called in a last minute order because our cake lady flaked. I called and there was a sweet voice over the phone taking my order, she was so friendly and helpful, come to find out she's the business owner! She was able to take on my order and then some. When I walked into the shop I was impressed with the displays and how clean it was. My order came in cool little brown boxes with the sweet nothings logo. All this, and the pastries were DELICIOUS! Such a cute bakery! The simplicity and quaint decor welcome you in. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Isabel. She was so sweet and friendly. We ordered the mini cupcake flight for $16.50 so far have tried the red velvet cheesecake, and mini vanilla cheesecake. Although mini, the flavors were big! Moist, with the perfect amount of sweet and crunch. I'm sad this place isn't closer to me. But we'll make our way out here nonetheless. Oreo and birthday cake are next to try in this flight but I can already tell I'm going to like them all. Prices are decent for the quality and the staff is so friendly. The bakery is super cute and cozy - very country-chic vibes with a long counter full of the day's flavors. I usually go for their full-size cupcake "flight" that comes with 4 flavors of your choice. They also offer a mini-cupcake flight that comes with 6 choices. There are so many flavors to choose from in mini size and full size. So far we've tried lemon cheesecake, strawberry, chocolate fudge, vanilla caramel, and birthday cake. All the flavors have been delicious! The textures of the sponge are perfectly fluffy and the icing is light and not too sweet in just the right amounts. We've also tried their chocolate chip cookies and omg they are SO GOOD!! They're huge and soft and full of chips. Got a customized birthday cake. I gave them a 6 days notice and they were able to accommodate me. The cake came out exactly as I wanted. The archs and flowers were perfectly made. I added the balloons (per their recommendation) and added the candle and bluey/bingo figurines. The smudges on the cake were from my toddler but she absolutely loved it. Okay, this place is located in Duarte in a nondescript strip mall in the middle of a nondescript street. You would never think to come here just driving by. I don't know why I did pull over and go in a few months back, except my son goes to a HS nearby. I don't live in Duarte. The food I've tried around there has been less than exceptional on a general basis. Nonetheless, I decided to just pull in and give it a try, and I don't usually eat desserts. I like looking at them and fantasizing about eating them, but after actually eating a savory meal, I'm usually too full and don't want any dessert. I'm rambling. So, anyway, I got a box of mini cupcakes, so I could try most of their flavors, as well as a few brookies (blondies and chocolate chip cookies melded together as 1/2 and 1/2). First of the brookies are to die for. I have been looking for something similar since moving from NYC, where a similar item sold at the Film Forum and I ate way too many of in my youth. The cupcakes were also across the board fantastic. I hate overly sweet cupcakes. I want my cupcake to be sweet but tempered so they don't sicken me or make my teeth ache, like most respected places (looking at you Sprinkles, Cristina Tosi, and most high end cupcake joints). Everything was truly out of this world. They also do special cupcakes for the holidays, but you have to order these in advance, so sign up to their IG or if they have a website. I follow them on IG so see the posts sometimes. They also have cookies. I think I got one chocolate chip for my son and he also loved it, but I truly cannot remember. I've been back so many times since I first went. One thing to know is they have a loyalty program, so get a card the first time you go. The price was a bit higher than other bakeries we've recently ordered from. The big downside? The cake was awful. It was the most dense and dry cake any of us have had. The frosting was bland and tasteless. Two family members who are huge cake lovers, always have 2-3 pieces, didn't even finish one piece each. They both ate about half and threw away the rest. I stopped by to buy some cupcakes for my work. The parking entrance is just before the Highland light if you are heading west on Huntington. There was a small parking lot in front and I had no issues with finding a spot. The little cake shop is very cute with yummy desserts on display such as cupcakes, cake pops, and cookies. I love how they have a bunch of mini cupcake flavors as well since it allowed me to get more flavors without the price point of the regular dozen. My coworkers really enjoyed them! Isabella and her team were great to work with! We requested a simple 6 inch - Strawberry Shortcake theme "1st birthday Smash Cake" We ordered a week in advance which was plenty of time for everyone! Great communication over phone and email! We provided her with a couple inspiration pictures and she knocked it out! We had a mishap on en route home as the buttercream and finish on the cake fell over in the car - luckily we had time and she was able to bring it back to perfect the following morning!!! When I contacted the shop, they told me I have to place the order at least one month in advance which I did! They have their own catalogue to choose from or you can show them your own design. Sweet Nothings was so easy to work with. We had to postpone my birthday party due to the fires and they were great at keeping my information ready for months while we rescheduled. We ordered two cakes and both were delicious but the chocolate cake absolutely stole the show! Placed an order a month in advance and they were able to accommodate with my request. Came to pick up the topper and in amaze of how modern and nice the shop looked, it was very clean, well organized, simple and welcoming. Also tried two of their mini cupcakes red velvet and cookies and cream ($2.50 each) they were delicious, not too sweet and the cream is well paired the cake itself was fluffy and airy. I guess a lot of these shops use box cakes... is this the norm? If they aren't I would be very surprised... The frosting to cake ratio is off for me too but that's a preference I guess... too much frosting and not enough cake. For the quality, these cupcakes are definitely overpriced. Customer service was okay. Both times I've gone it was dead and we were the only customers and the person seemed rushed and like they wanted us to hurry up so they could go back to the store. I hate to leave a low star review but I guess in this area people are okay with mediocre since there are no other real competitors around (I know there are a few but also felt the same about those shops). It was an underwhelming experience overall. Would give lower stars but don't want to be attacked for my honest review but the people thinking this place is a 5 star. I had a terrible experience with this cake bakery. Despite reaching out less than 24 hours before my event to cancel the order, they failed to communicate or accommodate my request. The lack of responsiveness and customer service is extremely disappointing. I made an order five days ago via online form, but their lack of professionalism and failure to communicate less than a day before my event left me with no options. It's a complete letdown, and I won't be recommending them to anyone and I won't be returning. Edit: The way to place an order is via an online form in which it states I shall receive a response within 24 hours. This was placed on Monday. I received an email today (11/24) before the event stating they will not be able fulfill the order due to it being a Holiday. Which is acceptable and I completely understand... What is not acceptable, is not receiving a response on 11/21, 11/22, or 11/23 stating it cannot be completed. Therefore giving a reasonable amount of time to make arrangements elsewhere.
