If you're a big eater and want the additional potatoes and pancakes, I recommend paying a few dollars more and ordering the Breakfast platter. The Vanilla Latte came in a paper cup (a bit bummed out by not being able to take a more IG worthy picture of that), but it actually tasted really good! Same with the sausage links - it was probably one of the best tasting ones I've had for breakfast in a while. Aside from their wide selection of pastries and food options, their customer service was phenomenal. Every customer that walked through the door was greeted upon arrival and thanked on their way out. The restaurant was very clean and the cakes looked so beautiful behind the glass case. I had a pleasant experience today at Merengue Bakery & Cafe and can't wait to come back soon to try a slice of their chocolate cake!

Each cake was PERFECT and handled with such care and SOOOOO YUMMY. We did a tasting with Linda about a month before the wedding and selected our flavors. The cake was absolutely delicious, even better on the day of the wedding. Everyone was so impressed with how beautiful the cakes were - guests questioned if they could eat them. Lol. Linda was communicative, punctual, and delivered beyond our dreams. We are so happy we booked her and that we found her services through Yelp! I will definitely order cake from her again!

I was sent a menu to select flavors and told we could pick them up in the next 2 hrs. We sampled chocolate-walnut, campfire, strawberry shortcake, peanut butter, brownie, and snickerdoodle cookies to celebrate my niece's bday. Each cookie is hearty, filled with chocolate/nuts/fruit, individually wrapped, and they were still warm fresh from the oven. The bakery is not a store front, but they're baking and decorating goodies on the premise. The baker included a cookie care card with instructions on caring for the cookies...so creative and helpful. All of the cookies were amazingly delicious, fresh, gooey and filling. Our favorite were the strawberry shortcake, snickerdoodle, and campfire cookies. The classic, nostalgic look of Fortune Bakery's cakes (the old-school red gelee for lettering, the soft whipped piping all around) absolutely fit the bill and we placed our order about 2 weeks prior to our wedding reception. The timing initially made me nervous, but fear not-they're on top of things and your cake will be ready as promised! The folks at Fortune Bakery were so friendly and accommodating. Joe was totally game to take on my design requests (orange and white roses with vines; Chinese character for double happiness) and even offered to open up the bakery early on Saturday morning so we could pick up the cake and deliver it to our venue nearby in Pasadena (note: you must arrange for your own cake pickup). We ordered a vanilla with strawberry sheet cake for our guests (fed 75 guests with plenty leftover) and a single layer 7"inch vanilla with mango cake for us to display/cut. The cake was as delicious as expected and a huge hit with our guests. I was more than happy to eat leftover cake for breakfast for a week and look forward to celebrating our wedding anniversary with a vanilla mango cake for many years to come.
