We ordered the "tea lunch" which was $40 per person My friend and I each got 3 tiny sandwich pieces that were barely filled, mostly just bread. The scones were good, but the portions of jam and clotted cream were skimpy. The desserts were yummy. The tea was served in separate pots and was piping hot. Oddly, the milk served, on the side, was ice cold The service was lackluster. It was obvious the server was new. But she was not at all helpful or knowledgeable. Kinda ruined the experience. The older ladies working there did not help her learn what customer service is all about. And, the Tea Room was not busy and we were seated too close to another occupied table. Very cramped. There were so many empty tables available. I expect a more attentive and friendly service. And a more elevated food service. Skimpy all the way around. read more

Didn't get to choose our tea (they brought one pot per table) and there are lots of tables squeezed closely together with a high ceiling--gives it a cafeteria feel (really loud). The tea and scones were good but the rest was disappointing. The desserts were not anything special and one of them was just whipped cream and a few strawberries in a cup (was hoping it was a trifle ). The portions were tiny as well with the scones being about half normal sized and the rest looking like they had cut everything in half. Overall not worth $50 a person. read more

Unfortunately it's not as nice as it used to be in the old Battle Ground location. The new location is industrial with a tall ceiling and the echo and noise of people talking at their table was SO LOUD. You're seated, but no longer get a menu to choose from, not even the flavor of tea that you get. it's already on the table. no water, unless you specifically ask for it. You can tell the food items are not prepared, but out of a takeaway box. Price has really gone up too. They add an extra $5 for a cup of soup per person which used to just come with the tea. I would skip this place completely. It's very unfortunate but I guess I come from a place where we have the best of Everything. I thought the price was right for the "Easter tea time" if it was $20-$25 a person not $35 I appreciate a nice teapot and don't like it to be covered with the tea pot cover but that's how they do it there. The pastries were all a pass and well the sandwiches well..... the tiny smoked salmon one was the best. We usually stay longer but it was so bad we just wanted out, by the looks of it so did 2 other tables. The staff was very friendly and nice, but this place needs some real work. We went there on Saturday to celebrate my friend's birthday. It's $35 per person plus tax. On Saturday service, you don't get to choose your own tea. They bring out whatever is served that day. The tea temperature was luke warm and so diluted, can't they put a little more tea leaves in the pot? The food was so so. The cucumber sandwich was very disappointed. It tastes ok, but the layer of cucumbers were so thin. I wish they put more cucumbers in it. The dessert was too sweet and they look and taste like those you buy from Fred Meyer with some dress up. Service was wonderful, the woman was very friendly and fun to talk to. The price was very affordable. The tea room itself was very pretty and nice to be in, with nice classical music in the background. The tomato bisque I had was wonderful and I loved it. The sandwiches were fine, the cucumber was the best and the cranberry chicken salad was good, but I've had better pimento cheese as I used to live in the South. The mini quiches were surprisingly good with delicate crusts. We got one scone each and they were pumpkin chocolate chip. I do not care for chocolate chips in anything but cookies, and it made putting the cream and jam on them unnecessary because it did not help anything. I don't think strawberry jam goes with pumpkin and chocolate. I didn't like the scone at all and didn't finish, but other people might enjoy. The cream was made there but was not anything like normal clotted cream so I was disappointed in that. The sweets were ok. The macaron was fine, but I didn't enjoy the brownie bites. They were reminiscent of store bought with added Halloween stuff on top including strange gummy pumpkins I didn't care for. The sticky toffee pudding bite was very good. There was a nice selection of tea and was very good, I'm familiar with harney & sons so had no concern there. An important part of the tea experience for me is the scones and being able to have proper clotted cream, so I was disappointed in that. It's a long way to get to this tearoom as well so it's unlikely we'd return. We've had significantly better tea and food in Portland, but if you're in the Battleground area it's a perfectly fine place to stop. read more

My 2 aunts made a reservation and went, having gone many times before. Upon arrival, the owner told them they had canceled their reservation and wouldn't seat them. My aunts reserve things over the phone- they didn't cancel as it world have taken an additional call. Regardless, they did end up getting seated, but for the next 30 MINUTES the owner and cook from the kitchen were loudly calling them liars and insulting them to be sure that they could hear. Even if someone had been in the wrong, on what planet would it be ok to loudly insult and embarrass to older women who did not fight them or cause them trouble? I took my daughter here for her first tea experience, and the setting was great for a child's first experience: down to earth, sedate, and casual. I have loved my teas at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, but that's a little uppity for my seven year old's first experience. I called around 10:00 this morning for reservations, knowing full well they didn't open till 11:30 and just hoped for the best. The owner called me back a half hour later with plenty of options for us. I appreciated her initiative to contact me during off hours. They have a huge variety of teas to choose from, and we enjoyed the ginger peach and strawberry chocolate teas. The food came out in a timely manner: creamy tomato soup and then our assortment of sandwiches and sweets. The scones were still warm and fresh. There were likely some items that were not made in house, particularly the sweets, but they were still enjoyable. The reason I gave four instead of five stars was only because the person tending to us seemed less personable than I would have expected for a small establishment. She did not give the same welcoming vibe that the owner did over the phone. She was polite, but just very businesslike and didn't smile much. I'd understand if they were busy, but we were one of two occupied tables at the time. I wouldn't let it keep me from visiting again, though. The low key atmosphere and the price point makes multiple visits a viable option. read more

I have tea at a lot of places, so my standards are very high. I came for their holiday special so they had some seasonal tea offerings. The one I had was ok, but not something I'd choose to buy again. The real low lights for me were: - I am 90% sure the desserts are from Costco. I know I've had those brownie cake single serving pastries before. - Too much space emphasis on the retail section, making the tea section way too close together. I could literally have leaned over and eaten off the plate of the person at the table next to me. If I'm going to dress up and have a nice afternoon out with a friend, I want it to be a relaxing, long time experience. - I don't know if there were people out or if they generally have so many people having tea at once, but they felt understaffed. On the plus side, the retail section is nice and has some interesting items. It's not somewhere I'd choose to visit again. read more

I have been here twice and both times have been absolutely amazing! I have tried booth their full afternoon tea and their luncheon tea. Both were very filling and especially tasty. The lavender earl grey tea is excellent (including the other tea selections). The food is so tasty and if I could I would have it everyday. It is so simple yet very tasty. I would recommend their scones and clotted cream- it is to die for!! The customer service here is so great and I felt at home and was treated so special. Absolutely horrible! If I could give negative stars I would. The owner was absolutely one of the rudest people I have encountered in my life. They said our reservation was canceled which I had just confirmed 2 days before. They offered no apologies. The owner kept repeating it wasn't their fault. I wasn't happy of course, especially since one of our party had driven down from Seattle. We left her building and she proceeded to follow us and raised her arm as if she was going to hit me. I told her I would be calling the police if she did. She proceeded to call me a stupid bitc& and to "piss off" . I'm still in disbelief. She was either having a mental breakdown or is just a terrible, rude and horrific person and should not deal with the public. I have NEVER been treated so rudely in my life. We were so disappoint in the service we received and the food. Soup was on cold side had to ask for it to be warmed up. One of the sandwiches was a chicken salad style. My son had 4 small chicken bones in his. The desserts are a whole another story. Only one out of four was decent to eat, which was the lemon meringue tart. The raspberries mouse with a gelatin was the worst thing. Trying to get attention to say something wasn't happening. They were to busy ordering tea supplies. This will be the last time I will be going to this place. The food and customer service doesn't exist here anymore. read more

We went for their annual evening Christmas tea, which their site described as a romantic event. Upon arrival we were seated at a long table with approximately 20 other people. Hardly romantic. Had their site stated tables would be shared with others we would not have attended. Trays of food were to be shared by 4 (us and 2 strangers). We were not able to taste all the different foods available as they had miscounted their guests, requiring trays for 4 to be shared by 5. This was called to the attention of our hostess, who fussed over it, then proclaimed it was fine and left. British treats I have always wanted to taste I still wasn't able to try as they went to others, making small talk with strangers across and beside me was uncomfortable and unwelcomed. They posted on Facebook that they were open so we went there. Got there around 2pm and there were no guests and all tables were empty. One table of 8-10 was set though. We asked to be seated and were told since they expected a "large" group, they would not seat us and turned us away. If you cannot handle more than 10 guests at one time, maybe this isn't the business for you. read more

After being introduced to High Tea in London last year I have been eager to find a place here in the states that offers an authentic British high tea experience. Sweet Peas did not disappoint. The whole experience was wonderful. I'm visiting from California. My sister lives here. As a treat I brought her and my young niece. We happened to make reservations for the special Halloween tea time. Food was Halloween themed. It was great! Tea was delicious. Food was well displayed and tasted great! Service was excellent too! We took my daughter here as a surprise for her 11th birthday. We selected the "Full Afternoon Tea". The tea was hot and served with nice cozies, and my daughter was delighted to see sugar cubes instead of a bowl of sugar. The mango sorbet tasted just like fresh mangoes, and the tomato basil soup was wonderful. (Everyone at the table including me agreed it's as good as mine, and that's the first time that's happened!) The sandwiches included classics and some that were more unusual. Everything tasted very fresh. The tiny quiche had a fantastic crust. The scones were tasty, as was the clotted cream and the homemade jam. The desserts were petite and sweet and filling. I was very happy that we were allowed to take the two leftover scones home in a box...so full we couldn't finish! The service was also lovely, very warm and engaging without being overpowering, quick without being rushed (despite her apologies for being "slow"...not at all!) and the room was bright and airy and though a lot of people were packed into one tiny former living room of the Padden House (there were at least 14 of us in there at one point), it wasn't crowded or loud or uncomfortable. I will definitely return for another special event, and recommend it to others! Do bring cash if you can, they take cards but not checks, and there was no place to add a tip after swiping the card, so we left one in cash. read more

This was my second visit but my first time at this location (they used to be in Vancouver). The food was about the same, but the building seems more open and maybe a little larger although I can't be sure. I think I prefer the old building though for its quaint tea house atmosphere, as this looks more like a restaurant inside but it's still nice. Overall it's a fun experience and the food and tea are good. I went on a week day and it was quiet and relaxing. read more

Sweet Peas Tea Room is a lovely place owned and operated by a very British Mum and daughter. Located in the historic Padden House, set back of 78th Street, it has ample parking in their lot. They are just minutes away from either I-205 or I-5. Aside from the cute little rooms and tables set with lovely china, the food - which is the main reason you're here - is amazing. Sweet Peas changes their offerings daily. I visit for Tea at least once a month and I have thoroughly enjoyed every item they have ever served. And the scones - lovely, light scones with currents, jam, & cream - the scones. read more
