On a lark I thought I would try to grow the flowers for our daughter's wedding with no experience as a gardener. :-O That said, I didn't want all of the responsibility, so we hired Sweet Roots Farm for the bouquets, sweetheart table, boutonnières, and corsages. As the months went on, I got nervous because the weather was cooler than normal, and the flowers were growing slowly. So I added 400 stems of bulk flowers to my order for insurance. Deena was awesome. She was super willing with great information. I LOVE her event software that tracts your proposal, order, payments, etc. We were always in the know. As the wedding got closer, she kept in close contact, making sure we were all on the same page. We had the bulk flowers delivered the day before so that we could prepare the table arrangements. We picked up the other arrangements the day of the wedding to make sure they were super fresh. In the meantime, my flowers kicked in and were amazing. It was a wildflower-themed wedding. We kept our flowers in pots, and didn't have to worry about them wilting, etc., while we kept Sweet Roots Farm flowers cool to bring out at the last minute. The flowers stole the show. It was a huge success. The house was not landscaped. There was a lot of brown.....until all of the flowers showed up. It was beautiful! From the initial meeting to the multiple follow up meetings we did throughout the whole process, she was so kind and made the process feel so relaxed. I can't speak highly enough about Deena and Sweet Roots Farm. For my wedding she provided centerpieces, boutonnieres, small bouquets, loose flowers, and my flower crown. I only realized after the wedding that she's an organic farmer which made my esteem for her (and her prices!) rise even more. She's professional, super friendly, organized, a great communicator and incredibly talented at arrangements. Deena listened to my ideas and interpreted them perfectly. From my end it was tricky to explain everything I wanted because I couldn't find a picture that captured the look. So we reviewed lots of different photos where I pointed out the aspects I liked in each. She explained all the flowers available for the season and was such a great communicator that I really felt I was in safe hands. I totally was. She was very generous with her time and advice from the initial consultation to perfecting the flower crown on the wedding day (not that it needed improvement, it actually made me cry it was so beautiful, but it needed slight trimming here and there when we saw it with my hair). When she delivered the flowers I was so overwhelmed that my vision was there in front of me. Her arrangements and flower crown were works of art. I cannot say enough positive things about Sweet Roots Farm! First off, Sweet Roots is so much more affordable than all other wedding florists. I ended up paying around $2,000 in total including delivery the day of our wedding. And the quality of what you get is, in my opinion, even better than an actual florist! Deena was so helpful and communicative throughout the planning stages. She took a good amount of time to talk through everything with me on the phone and via email. I felt so confident that she understood my vision and would create it for me. A few weeks before my wedding I visited Deena on the farm which was so much fun! She took a few hours to walk me through the fields and then she created a sample bouquet, boutonniere, and table arrangement so I could get an idea how everything would look. Since it is a wild flower farm you can't choose the exact type and color of flowers, so I thought this was so incredibly helpful to be able to see how Deena found the flowers similar in color, size and shape to the photos I had shared with her and watch how she goes about building the arrangements. She is so talented! The finished product was even more amazing than I could have ever imagined!! My mom, bridesmaids and I were speechless when she brought the bouquets up to my room. They were exactly as I had hoped for and pictured! She got the colors and the loose and airy look PERFECTLY. For our Truckee/Donner Summit wedding in August, we were on the hunt for a local, budget-friendly, down-to-earth florist. Sweet Roots Farm was recommended to us by a local Tahoe wedding planning company and we feel SO lucky to have had them design the flowers for our wedding! Since they aren't on WeddingWire or The Knot yet, Sweet Roots is kind of a hidden local treasure (becoming less hidden-- catch them while you can!). We found out later that they provide flowers for a bunch of local businesses and are well-known in the Grass Valley area. What's so great about Deena and her husband is that, aside from them being the sweetest, easiest-to-work-with people who grow organically, they are extremely knowledgeable about the flowers they grow. They know what varieties will bloom when, which flowers will hold up best in certain weather/lighting conditions, and know how to clip the flowers just right so they retain moisture in a bouquet. We signed our contract with Deena about 9 months prior to our wedding and it was so cool that they planted the seeds for our specific color palette and were involved in the growing, harvesting, and arranging of our flowers-- talk about full service! We are based in Los Angeles and were doing a lot of the wedding planning remotely. Deena was a dream to work with long-distance. She completely "got" our rustic/elegant wedding theme, our desire for wild, natural looking arrangements, and our subdued color scheme. She's a great communicator and uses online tools that make the process simple. The icing on the cake was that we asked for an unusual floral "altar" piece, that would take the place of a usual arbor. We wanted two log floral stands at the front of the aisle. Without batting an eye, Deena said they could make these for us using a cedar tree that had just fallen on their property. The end result was that we had a beautiful custom "arbor" that was one of the prettiest I've seen. The value for what you get is off the charts. This is a special place. We picked up a bunch of buckets of flowers for our wedding here, and we were blown away by the quality.
