I also had horrible customer service from the women in the office and the delivery people. I would never give this company my money again. My experience with this business went downhill very quickly. Rude, entitled, incompetent. They tried to leave several cubic yards at the top of my driveway (after the delivery was 3 hours late, I had laborers waiting, and never got a delivery update). The delivery driver was a complete ass. I could not have my delivery blocking my cars in. I mean, WTF??? He even laughed in my face, which was so contemptuous and caused and argument and then left without doing the delivery. The previous delivery was on the side, no problem. Apparently only THEIR time matters. Customers are disposable. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL! I try to support local businesses, but the sloppy, snotty whatever their bad attitude of the day is... well, just plain WOW! I've only ever been treated with respect and professionalism at Rare Earth. Go there instead. Don't say you weren't warned. read more

Debbie (if I remember correctly) patiently helped me decide what we needed for our raised bed garden on the phone, took the order and scheduled delivery based on our request. The delivery man called and told us when he was 20 minutes out, put it exactly where we wanted it, smiled and waved goodbye. It was a generous 4 yards of the most luscious blend of potting soil we have ever used. Everything planted in it or that has been topped off with it is growing like mad! Loyal patron for many years, spent many thousands of dallors to be ripped off and told to try and measure it. Four seasons landscape supply, is ripping people off. My truck bed holds 1 yard, is not even 3/4 full. I stopped and asked the office for some help and was told to try and measure it. I said please step out and look at how much soil is in the truck before arguing with me, sorry I'm not gonna do that. When I mentioned posting an add, she could have cared less. Just lost my business. Beware, they are not giving full yards of soil and could care less about the customer. read more

False sample display. The Penn Valley store has samples of their products in the office. I used this sample to make a purchase, which they loaded in my truck. I took it home and began unloading the bark. I then noticed it was an inferior grade of bark. The bark was loaded with cheap pine sticks or filler. The next purchase was at Home Depot, which had bark for the same price and a far better quality. This complain of fake displays and cheap products was given to the store owner and they could careless about their reputation. read more

So good news, the company reached out to me about our discrepancy, and sought to right the situation. I met with the owner of Four Seasons, Jeff, and he gave me a half yard of soil. I would definitely buy materials from them again. Great company! read more

I got a truck load of drainage rock today. Luckily I put a tarp down first but the rocks still fell out of the front loader down both sides of my black Tundra with new paint. I was a bit horrified watching this unfold but hoped it wasn't actually doing damage. When he was done, I drove around the corner to check the paint. Sure enough, multiple chunks taken out of paint. I immediately went back in to tell the blonde lady who said, "well why did you use that truck then!" Another girl popped her head out from the back office and said it sounds like I got a bad paint job. Really!? Where is the courtesy and customer appreciation? It's not there. read more

I went to this nursery very recently. I asked for any indoor plants. The gentleman working there said that they do not have any indoor plants for sale, because they cannot keep them alive at this facility. I thought that was fair enough, so I proceeded to inquire about getting a plant for my patio (obviously, an outdoor situation) where it will "get a good amount of sun." He continued to shake his head and said "no.... we can't have those, they will die." So, if this business cannot sell indoor or outdoor plants, what kind of plants can they sell? I saw shrubbery and foliage all over the place, but I was so frustrated with this level of "service" that I decided my best bet was to go to Home Depot. So much for shopping at a small business. read more

I picked up a truckload of soil for starting my veg. It seemed loamy at first, and I planted about 1000 veg and flower seeds into pots in my greenhouse. A couple weeks later the soil had started turning into bricks. Started smelling like dead animal and rotten eggs. Killed every seed, only two veg seeds managed to pop and I dumped each pot, one by one. Used it to fill in pits in the yard. Absolutely heartbreaking. This isn't my first rodeo; I've been starting veg from seeds my whole life, in crap soil, in blends, in native soils, and never had anything like this happen. Days of work, a hundred bucks in organic seeds, and by the time I realized what happened it was too late in the season to start over. Talked to a few other people with similar stories, and one friend who found a syringe in his load. Gross. Had 20(?) cubic yards of the mushroom compost delivered last year for my garden area, now I'm scared to plant the starts I had to buy. Thanks for ruining my garden for the entire year. read more

Outstanding Service! I had a split load (6 yrd Garden Soil, 3 yrd Top Soil) delivered yesterday and was very satisfied with the soils and delivery. The driver had to get up a somewhat steep grade to get the load where I needed it and had no problems at all. I really didn't think he would have attempted it but I was wrong and this guy saved me a serious amount of work. Had he placed it near my barn down below as I thought, I would have had to use my pickup, loading & unloading it by hand and shovel one cubic yard at a time 9 times. He also had no problems maneuvering my narrow drive with a pond to one side and low hanging trees to the other side. Great Job, need more like him! read more

For eight years I have used this business for stone and soil amendments. Not anymore because I just had one of the very worst retail experiences ever. I called ahead the afternoon before and asked about the availability of the mulch and explained that I would be picking it up myself since I had no place for delivery. When I went through the purchase, in what I considered a friendly and civil manner I was told by the counter person that I was "battling her every step of the way, and they hadn't allowed people to fill their own containers for 3 years. She was making an exception for me this time only." Whew! I don't have any idea why asking for help (as happened usually) or requesting a shovel caused her to explode. read more

i got a load of compost from four seasons last year and in it was a nasty super invasive weed called bineweed. the owner of the company did not reply to my emails about it. don't use four seasons landscape materials. the invasive weed that was introduced from a load of compost from them is extremely difficult to get rid of. the owner could care less about it. don't use them. read more
