My stylist of ten years moved to New York four months ago and I finally got fed up with my hair. I called Sweet Salon based on their high Yelp reviews. The first point in their favor, is that Andre agreed to see me as his last appointment of the day on same day service. It's a clean well maintained salon and the other employee greeted me friendly when I arrived. After just a few minute wait, I sat down with Andre. He was able to immediately match the color I wanted and even recommended highlights. He then mentioned that I would need a toner for the best results. I'd never had anyone mention a toner so was a bit skeptical but in the end he was absolutely right. After the color processed, he asked about my cut. I've been all one length for a few years and wanted a more updated look. I showed him a photo I've liked for some time. He nodded and went to work. I wasn't entirely sure because I'd never had my hair cut with a razor before. But again he showed he's a true professional. I am THRILLED with my hair! It's exactly the style I wanted and one of my clients complimented me right away yesterday. I know Andre is new here but I hope he stays for a long time as I'll want to see him again each time I need a touch-up. read more

I went to Sweet Salon to get low and high lights in my hair. I use to go there before , therefore I was not expecting anything bad to happen. I explained to the hairdresser what I want, I show her pictures and I suggested that she look in my file to see what color was used at my last visit. Unfortunately she did not care and did not do it. Color ended up all wrong. I left salon looking like I had cheap , home made color on my hair and I paid over $150.00 for this " professional" job. After I got home I realized that this is not acceptable and I call Sweet Salon back, I got Angela Perrone on the phone ( manager ) who told me to come in and she will fix it. I called them the next day and made appointment -- there was new guy in salon who took my call and wrote the appointment down. When I show up Angela was extremely surprised seeing me , and stated that my appointment is on a different day, I told her I have all written down, I took vacation time for this appointment . She went somewhere and when she came back she stated that this new guy put my appointment in wrong spot, and she agreed to take me in. But she already had customer , and she concentrated on the other customer, chatting with her and her friends while I was sitting there with color on my hair. I was sitting for VERY long time with the new color on my hair ( about 40 minutes minimum ). I asked Angela more then once if she is using Italian product, which is plant based and not damaging hair , because I have very delicate, fine hair -- her answer was yes. She was so much in hurry when finally she washed color off my hair - I had no chance to really look at her job, when I got home I got shock of my life : hair on top of my head were white! She stripped my hair of everything, every bid of pigment. It became obvious that she used harsh product , not plant based Italian one. I called her very next morning and she took me in, in order to fix the problem. She put something on my hair and I was sitting there for about 30 minutes, after she washed it out she put another product on my hair. White was gone, my hair had normal color. Well, it took only about two weeks after this visit where I realized that she totally burned my hair, they were breaking off , they were extremely dry. I went to hair salon -- in Scottsdale - to find out that there is NOTHING no one can do to fix what Angela did; they told me that damage she made to my hair is irreparable, and the only solution is to wait for the hair to grow back. They look at my hair and show me that in many places my hair is breaking off in huge amount. In the next weeks my hair got worse and worse, I lost the whole length of my hair because my damaged hair did not stop breaking off. Today - over two years later - I am still waiting for my hair to be the same length as it use to be. It looks like it will be another two years for me to have hair about the same length as I had before. My hair was very long, beautiful and very healthy before I went to Angela. Between the first lady, who color my hair in the wrong way, and Angela, I spend much over $300.00 for this " treatment " incl. tips. I endet up with ruined hair -- it took me many years to grow my hair -- she destroyed my hair beyond repair or any chance to save them. I will never in my life go to this salon again and I warn everyone out there. If anyone would like to see my pictures before I enter salon, after I left Angela Perrone, and what my hair look like today - I will be happy to provide the proof. read more

The last time I had a haircut was over 10 months ago. I was in desperate need of a haircut, and decided to give this salon a try since they had hairstylists previously participate in my school's Cuts for Kids benefiting the March of Dimes. I heard positive things about their cuts from that charity event. I called in for an appointment, and was promptly scheduled for a haircut at the end of the week with Lisa. When I arrived at the salon, I was immediately offered water. Lisa pleasantly greeted me with a smile. She attentively listened to my preferences and concerns as I discussed how much I was willing to cut off and the length of the shortest layer. I showed her a picture of the layered V shape haircut. She then gave me a nice shampoo wash with soothing, warm water. Once my hair was dried with a towel, she cut about 3-4 inches off; which was the length I showed her. Lisa had a great arm workout, blow-drying my long hair. Furthermore, we had a great time chatting while she was working. I was very happy with the way the cut turned out. All my split ends are gone, and my head feels lighter. Lisa did an amazing job giving me that layered V shape cut, and maintaining my desired hair length. I would definitely recommend her. She loves her job, and is definitely wonderful at it. read more

I had called prior to going there requesting them to shave my hair off! First off all the other salons I went to refused to do it, even though I was the one wanting the cut! When I first walked in and told the person at the desk what I was there for again there response was WHY?? After their initial shock they told me to have a seat and Anthony would be right with me. They do offer water and tea for those who are waiting. Anthony was so excited to do my hair! His personality was great. Went for the first time a couple days ago, and had my hair cut by Amy. She was new to the salon; however, she has over 20 years of previous experience. And it showed! She was very friendly, and gave me some great advice for my hair--which is very curly. I have had my share of bad haircuts as a curly-haired individual, but I am very pleased with the one I got from Amy. She listened carefully to my request and then fit it to my specific hair. In my book, that's quite the talent! Plus, I found out that Amy grew up in the same hometown as me in central Kansas, lived in the same state (about an hour away) where I went to college--Joplin, MO, and goes to the same church I do--Christ's Church of the Valley (Phoenix, AZ)! It's amazing the connections you'll find in the Body of Christ! A beautiful sister indeed! Lastly (but not most important), the reason I give it 5 stars is for the cleanliness, friendly atmosphere and professionalism. I call this salon at 10 am, and they were able to squeeze me in at 10:30. I got there and had been set up with an older gentleman named Andre, Who was completely amazing! Was left under the dryer too long and my hair broke off. I went in for blonde highlights and came out with white, grey, brown, and black highlights. I know the stylist meant well but it didnt turn out as planned. My hair is ruined I had to cut it above my shoulders and go back dark. No, I didnt go back or call because at this point my trust is lost. I paid someone else to fix it and they were embarrassed for me and so apologetic that this happened. This my second time coming to this salon. My hairdresser moved to California and I wanted to stick with Davines products. My mom had been trying to find a salon and decided to start coming here when her hairdresser, Andre, moved here so I thought, why not? For the first cut, it was just reshaping and color. Amazing job! He takes his time which I appreciate. I don't feel like I'm in and out of the chair so the next person can come in. The second cut has bit of a story. I wanted to try a Mohawk shaped undercut similar to Kelly Osbourne but instead of skin, I wanted a fade. I did not explain it that way though so bless Andre's heart for trying to understand my jumble. We did have a misunderstanding but let me make this clear: the misunderstanding was solely on my end. He asked me a question, I said yes to it so he gave me what I asked which resulted in my hair being cut shorter than what I wanted but Andre being the talented hairdresser he is, he made it look good and even better than what I wanted. Same with the color. He blended the brown and blonde so it all came together. If anything, I feel bad for stressing him out. I ask for custom haircuts that are variations of multiple cuts in one so, obviously, my requests aren't simple but talented and experienced hair dressers can handle them. End result? BEWARE!!! Do not go to this salon.. They are absolutely horrible. They lack experience, ethics, and customer service. I went in for an ombre and the the hair stylist left me with spotty hair that didn't even run through to the ends of my hair. When I called to get my money back it took several messages of going back and forth arguing. For them to finally only agree to half... I told them I was not satisfied with only half and that due to their carelessness I would have to go to another salon and now have to pay double to fix the damage. Several weeks later I get a call from the manager (Michael) who was extremely rude, and was putting the blame on me for not wanting them to fix my hair. He said I was threatening his business by telling "people" which was the other salon about my experience. DO I NOT HAVE THAT RIGHT? Especially when I am going somewhere else to get it fixed... He only called me because he was worried about his reputation as he repeated that and argued that over and over again. Not once did he apologize for putting me through this or let me know how he would handle the situation. Instead the only thing he was willing to do was send me a "contract" to not talk bad or post a bad review on the salon and would then give me my money back. He has yet to send me anything and it has been a month.. mind you I have sent him several emails to not get a response back. His excuse is he is undergoing surgery and even if that is the truth.. its no excuse to let your place of business handle these type of situations in this manner, if anything I have been threatened to sign a contract that was never sent to me... Due to his limited availability I have cc'd his staff on every email asking for updates when am I going to get my money back.. He (MICHAEL) was supposedly going to resolve this for me. But instead this just continues to go ignored. I have pictures to post as proof of what this salon did to my hair and it is horrid. When I went to the other salon they could not believe how lazy this person was on how she did my hair... Get this! When I was in the salon that fixed my hair.. someone called and asked on prices because "SWEET SALON" messed up their hair too! David did a terrible job on my hair. I went to him after reading couple reviews on here. I didn't had any color on my hair, when I went there thinking it will be a blank canvas for him. It's not even close to the color I requested and very uneven. I could have bought a $5 color from CVS and handed to my 8 years old he would done a better job. Way over priced. I have done highlights before many times and my hair has always lifted very nicely and not much damage at all. The reason they don't lift your hair to the color you want for the first is because they want to go again and pay them an arm and leg again to get the color. Or maybe not, probably will tell you to come one more time. I have colored my hair with a store bought color and the color came out very nice without putting any extra bleach on my hair. I'm very disappointed with the color I got. I was thinking he would have at least style my hair after word, but to my disappointment he just blow dry it without giving it any volume. I didnt mentione it eaither because i didnt care anymore, was pretty upset about my hair. I'm a kind of person that usually don't burst in anger, so I just paid and calmly walked out. I'm sure these good reviews are from before when those 2 other ladies used to work. Most of the good reviews I read here was about those 2 ladies, that doesn't work there anymore. I can't believe that I paid this much for what I got. There are other salons that charges a lot less and does better job. I'm a very busy person with kids, school, and home choirs, I don't get much time for myself but I spent about 3 1/3 hours there plus emptied my pocket without getting good results. As I explained how busy I'm I don't find much time to write reviews, unless I really need to like writing this one. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL. Updated: OMG I must be dreaming!!! I called the owner Michael to tell him that I'm losing lots of hair because David put a low volume bleach and left it on my hair for over an hour. Now I'm losing my hair in bunches, he started cursing me for leaving bad review and telling me I ruined his reputation. I told him David ruined my hair he said he doesn't care about my hair and I take my business elsewhere. I have never had a store owner talking to customers like this. Annette Dematteo CANNOT cut hair - I went in with all one length hair almost to my shoulders. She was "supposed" to cut layers in and then "taper" the left side in front so it doesn't fall in my face. The layers are okay - a bit too short. BUT... the way she cut the left side was an absolute mess! She cut a massive BIG chunk out that DID NOT blend in. Also, this stylist, whom Sweet Salon told me has been doing hair for "many years," was very rough with my scalp and hair during the shampoo. I had to go the next day to another salon to get this fixed. I could have gone back to Sweet to get it fixed - BUT do you think I TRUST them?! I just moved from a different state so I wasn't sure where I should go to get my haircut as I'm very particular about my hair and how it is cut. I was very disappointed when I started the process and I felt like my needs were not even important. They were very rough with my hair and didn't care to ask how I would like it textured or anything. I didn't know I had to specify these things. My layers were not even and the texture was completely butchered. I like a very feathery texture (how my hair WAS before they cut it) and they made it more of a straight cut...but not evenly. When it came to styling it, it didn't seem like they really knew how to do that either and I was just very disappointed all around. Paid $55 for a cut I hate. read more

I am so glad this salon is open in the West Valley! Sweet Salon has a great vibe and the staff are wonderful. As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted with a warm welcome and offered a refreshment. Michael came and got me from the waiting area and took me to his station. He did a thorough consultation with me, asked me what I wanted him to do to my hair and also made some suggestions. I was looking for a change from my boring hair color and style. Michael was able to make my brown thin hair look full of body without taking too much off the length. He also lightened it up just the right amount for summer! I never would have pictured myself with bangs, but my husband and friends love my new hairstyle. Overall I would give this salon a 5 out of 5. Sweet is indeed very Sweet. Paige is professional, is a perfectionist and an excellent hairdresser and colorist. Blunt A-Line bobs are really difficult to do, much less do well. I am a difficult client, in that I want a perfect bob. Paige did it! I was very impressed with her on so many levels. The salon itself is lovely, painted in soft and relaxing greens. The chairs for washing hair are like massage chairs. I had found out about it from another stylist who had moved there. Apparently, she is no longer there. Pricey. Very eclectic bunch of stylists. Asked for highlights and got them but they also bumped my base and charged me for it, without asking me. Didn't realize that's what had been done til I got home because of the lighting in the studio. Probably done so I'd have to come back sooner. I love this place. I tried so many places before I found "my girl" Gaby. She really cares and listens to what you want. She is very attentive and skilled at what she does and is a master at the balayage technique. The salon is super cute and the owner Michael is a fun guy with great energy. Hadn't had my hair cut in over a year and it was long and stringy. Called to see if I could get in same day and I was able to with David. He was very nice and talked to me the whole time, but he wasn't annoying. The salon was dead on a Wednesday afternoon. Everyone there was friendly. David did exactly what I wanted. It took at least 45 minutes-1 hour for a cut and blow dry. He was very thorough. I love my hair and would recommend David. read more

For the most part, I'm very low maintenance when it comes to my hair. I get basic trims and every once in awhile get a drastic cut. So when my mom visited and asked where there was a good hair salon, I didn't really have an answer for her because in the 3 years I've lived here, I never really sought out a nice salon. I looked at what was close to my home and saw that Sweet Salon had great reviews and it was just up the street, so mom and I popped in one morning to see about availability. Initially, I was a tad bit annoyed because there was one person who didn't even acknowledge us from behind the desk while she was on the phone, even a smile in our direction would have been nice, turns out she was one of the hair dressers, then the receptionist came from the back carrying a case of water and asked if we could be helped, very friendly. We asked about availability, and she did what she could while looking at the computer over the hair dresser's shoulder. It was looking like we would be out of luck on scheduling an appointment that day, but then the owner, Michael, stepped in to save the day! He offered to take both of us at 1:30, so we ran some errands and came back at our scheduled time. While we waited, we were offered tea and coffee from their Keurig or a cold bottle of water. Michael took my mom back first and did a fantastic job on her hair. Her only complaint was that he may have left it a /little/ long on top, but since we were squeezed in together, she didn't want to take up more time to ask him to fix something that wasn't that big of a deal. My turn! I feel bad about this part, but I had very long hair and waited until I was in the seat to say "I'm going very short!" Which took up quite a bit of his time. This is important to know for a later incident... When I showed him a picture of how short I wanted to go, the first thing he said was "we could probably donate this then!" I was super excited. This took up some time as he had to locate some rubber bands and section my hair off into four parts. But yay for donated hair! I then got shampoo'd and conditioned, and was very thoughtfully given some advice on how to get all the shampoo out of my stubborn hair in the shower. Michael has an excellent personality and we bonded over similarities between our lives and we didn't stop laughing the entire time that he cut my hair. Let me just say that his precision and attention to detail made for an excellent hair cut! However, my appointment ran very long and unfortunately ran into the time slot of the lady who was after me. Like I said before, I did not make Michael aware of my intent to do a drastic hair cut at the time our appointment was made. The lady after me was noticeably upset and I can understand why, I wouldn't want to have to wait that long past my appointment either. But I'm not gonna lie, Michael is totally worth the wait in my opinion. Overall, my experience was FANTASTIC!!! I will be returning for my next hair appointment for sure! read more

I had Michael do my hair last year and liked it. I am a snowbird and booked an appointment in December for a cut. I showed up at my appointment and the two young men at the desk looked at the computer and had a funny look on their face. I said I do have an appointment today and the one responded yes, but Michael has left the salon. The customer service at this salon has gone down hill and quick. Have been a client of Michael Sweet for 20+ years. He blew me off three times when I had scheduled appts because he wanted to leave early. Whatever happened to good customer service? I guess it is hard to come by now days. Most of my friends and family also quit going to Sweet Salon. I would not recommend this salon to my worst enemy. Went to this salon on a Groupon offer. First impression was great. Had Marissa for stylist. We discussed a lot of things for my hair. Told her I was trying to grow my hair out but needed a style for it and my back thinned out. After a few days of working with it I am very unhappy with it. I did mention that I really liked the picture on the wall but a shorter version. I have nothing like that and my back is pretty short. My sides look like I have ear muffs.
