It was root touch-up time for me, and I figured--why not get a haircut too and finally say goodbye to those damaged ends? I checked out Groupon and found Olivine Salon. They had a good deal and relatively good reviews, so I booked it. I was running 5-10 minutes late due to traffic, so I called to give them a heads-up... but no one answered. I left a voicemail and hoped for the best. When I arrived, the front desk was completely empty. One customer was getting her hair done on the left, and on the right, behind a wall, I could hear another customer chatting with her stylist. So, I waited... and waited... and waited. My appointment was at 3:30, and I finally sat in a chair closer to 4. Okay, take 10 minutes off for me being late--but still, about 20 minutes of being completely ignored? Not great. My stylist was nice, but the overall process didn't impress me. I have wavy hair, and as anyone with wavy hair knows--it looks totally different wet vs. dry. She cut it wet, right after the root touch-up. Also, she didn't wrap my hair while the color was processing, which was a first for me. Every other salon I've been to always wraps it up. So, the service included root touch-up, wash, haircut, and a straight blow-dry. And yes, it looked good when I left the salon (because doesn't it always?). But once I got home, washed my hair the next day, and let my waves come back... it definitely wasn't the length I wanted. :( And to top it off--when I was leaving, I went to give the stylist my Groupon voucher number and a tip. That's when the mysterious front desk person finally appeared... and asked for extra money. Why? Because "color wasn't included." Um... it was a root touch-up. How exactly do you do that without color? The deal literally listed root touch-up, haircut, blow-dry, and conditioning as a package. I was tired, didn't argue. Paid off and left. I'm new to the area. I called around looking for an experienced stylist to cut my hair. I chose this Salon because of the reviews. When I made my appointment, I asked for a master/experienced stylist. Unfortunately, that's not who they scheduled me with. I'm sorry, but I don't remember her name. She was friendly; but very new to the industry. I just needed a basic haircut to fix my uneven ends. A couple days later when I styled my own hair, I noticed that my hair was still uneven. This was a wasted hour. I came in with a Groupon coupon for partial highlights for my hair. They sat me in a chair, draped me with an apron, ran a comb thru my curly hair and told me that the coupon does not cover COLOR, or TONER - which could run above $40...and so I left. I purchased the coupon for $24.80 and was never told about any additional expenses. I will advise everyone who goes to this salon to ask about price hikes BEFORE they get in the chair. This should have been told to me when I called for the appointment. I would never go to this salon again. It's a matter of ethics and communication. Not cool. read more

I called & made appointments for my husband and myself for haircuts & asked if they honored their Groupon ad. GIrl told me they did and set up an appointment, but was notified the price would be about $11 over Groupon ad. I agreed to this and gave her my email address and received a confirmation. On day of appointment I got a call saying 1) they could not honor the ad because I had been there sometime before and 2) they don't honor them for men (even though their ad is under men's hair salons on Groupon)! My appointment started promptly and we discussed price and options. At no point was I made to feel pressured into going above my budget. We decided on a few things. I literally got the ick from this salon .These people are so rude. I bought a Groupon and The lady made sure to let me know the price is only to see if I like their services , as if I need the lower price? I had a tip ready that was more than my haircut. On my way to get the tip I had locked my keys in my car and paid $115 dollars to get the keys instead of waiting a few hours  because I didn't want my hairdresser to lose money. I show up and the lady cutting my hair had the nastiest worst attitude I've ever seen. Why would I want someone to touch me who doesn't smile at all.  I try to explain what I want , she comments that It won't look like that unless I style it ( layers ).  Comments how I have black hair color ( hairdressers know  ) then I realized I forgot to brush my hair in the very back, because she looked disgusted and claimed my hair was " completely matted " . loudly saying " no like it's completelyyy matted ! Im glad she did because I walked out , brushed my hair out in 1 min and went to another salon with a woman who was so incredibly sweet and did a perfect job. They then charged my account knowing I left in 2 min . So I'm not the one who's  desperately trying to look chic yet on Groupon while every salon was completely booked out . That's why I came. I went to this salon today (10.07.2021) as a walk in. I have read good reviews on Yelp and since my beautician of 15 years retired I was looking for a new salon. As I walked into the salon, there was no receptionist but 2 nail technicians busy with clients. I stood at the desk for about 5 minutes waiting for someone to help but no one acknowledged me. They did not even look my way even though I was clearly in sight facing the workers. After 5 minutes I turned and left the salon. Very rude employees in my opinion. I would have happily waited if anyone had acknowledged me and told me to wait. I did not see any hairdressers in the salon at all and all chairs were empty except 2 nail stations. I am going to mention Groupon a lot because that is what led me to this salon. It hasn't happened in a long time that I have felt using a Groupon for a service meant I should receive substandard service, but this was one of those times. When I made the appointment, it was communicated to me that only certain people would do Groupon services which is fine, but it gives the impression that I am putting the salon out or maybe they are doing me a favor. It was like it was an inconvenience that I was using a Groupon. I had a terrible feeling about the salon which, unfortunately, came true. The stylist was very sweet, but I think inexperienced. The entire appointment lasted 2 hours for a cut, partial highlights, and wash/blow dry. This is not the first time I've had my hair highlighted; the appointments usually last 3 to 4 hours. My hair barely appears to have any highlights. She left the bleach on about 30 minutes before she washed it off. I do not think she left it on long enough. Initially, it looked like caramel highlights but, when I went home, I could see there was barely any color. I waited until the day after to submit this feedback because I wanted to see how it looked the next day and no, it looks pretty much like it did yesterday. All I've got was a $90 haircut, wash and blow dry. In addition, I have never been charged an additional cost for toner. I purchased a Groupon last year for a similar service at a different salon and was not charged for toner. This is essentially the equivalent of Chipotle and their guac. I think that should have been communicated that that was a possible charge upfront when the appointment was made however, I feel like the salon was charging me more because I used a Groupon. And I felt like I was being judged for not paying the full price for the service. And not from the stylist but from the blond woman who took my appointment and checked me out. It was a very disappointing experience and the lady who checked me out was correct, a Groupon is a way to see if I will come back to the salon. But what she understands is that you must do something to gain me as a customer. And I will not be going back. I can't imagine paying full price for this same service. I would have been pissed if, after 30 minutes of bleach application, my hair looked the same. So, I will need to have it done elsewhere and pay more money to get it the way that I wanted it done. I could have done it myself and gotten a better result. But I got my $90 haircut (wash and blow dry) and I guess I should be happy with that. I selected this salon because many of the ratings were very good, but I would avoid doing the same. It was a waste of my time and my money. Because $90 for a haircut (wash and blow dry) is still a lot of money. I could have gone to Great Clips for the same haircut. I hope the salon takes this feedback seriously and doesn't disregard it because they don't like accepting Groupon. If you do not like people purchasing Groupon and coming to your salon don't participate in the Groupon program. Again, I got my exposure to your salon and will NOT return. read more
