I have gone to Zhila several times (not regularly like I need to) and I can't imagine going anywhere else. I like to believe that her warm sugar concoction is less painful than wax. Also, she has many years of experience and is very good at what she does. I don't know about you, bur I prefer the tv on in the room as opposed to a silent "relaxing" atmosphere where I can psych myself out with all my "ouch this is gonna hurt" thoughts. I expected a Brazilian to be the most painful thing ever but surprisingly it wasn't. She also gets the most painful areas done first so it gradually gets better...and goes super quickly. My advice? To summarize, I was skeptical and now I'm a client for life. Absolutely love this place! Zhila is through and really wants the best for you. I came into this assuming that it was going to be INSANELY painful (both brazilian and leg wax) but it was incredibly easy! She was super fast and kept me comfortable the entire time, making sure I was comfortable the entire time since she understands that Brazilians aren't exactly the most comfortable things to do. Another thing is that she has pure sugaring ingredients (sugar, lemon and water). This is pretty rare nowadays and since she does "strip waxing" instead of the "balling" method, it makes everything go by super fast while avoiding cross-contamination caused by the balling method (can cause infection - not pretty). She was awesome and straight to the point which I appreciate. If you want the real sugaring experience without the insane pain, I definitely recommend this place! Sorry for posting such a graphic picture- I wouldn't usually share it on the internet but I feel a responsibility to warn people. There is no better warning not to come here than a picture of the state of my coochie right now. Hopefully I can help other people not be tricked by good reviews on this website like I was. Immediately after the wax, bruises appeared all over my bikini line and my um, majora was really red. A couple days later and the red has faded to a brown color as is obvious in the picture (my skin there was previously the same color as the rest of me) and that brown pigment is actually a permanent scar called post inflammatory hyperpigmentation! It is caused when the skin produces melanin to heal trauma. I'm not on any medications and my skin is not particularly sensitive or prone to scars of the PIH variety so I am sure that this was caused by the technique of the waxer, especially since it is accompanied with so many bruises. I'm not an expert on waxing but I know how it is typically done and her technique differed in a couple of ways. She basically waxed the whole area in about two rips (doing the mons, majora and part of the leg all together on each side) and then proceeded to go over each area several times. Because she did such large sections at a time it would have been impossible to pull the skin taut in each area and she had to to use both of her hands to hold the giant cloth strip to be able to rip it off anyway. I am pretty certain that ripping the skin in such a sensitive area the way she did repeatedly is what caused the damage. I've waxed myself many times before using smaller strips and holding the skin taut and never experienced the problems that I am having now. I followed her aftercare instructions diligently and only applied Thayer's witch hazel and Nature Republic aloe Vera to the area so there was nothing I did to damage the skin further. The waxer herself was actually nice and fun to talk to during the appointment. I really did want to be okay with the results and even brushed off the bruising at first. However, once I experienced the skin darkening from the hyperpigmentation scar I realized that my skin had been permanently damaged. The only way that I would be able to fix this scar would be to go through the long process of peeling it off using some serious fading creams so now I get to choose between peeling down there or being discolored. I can only speak for my own experience at this establishment but what happened to me here can just as easily happen to anyone else! read more

Writing my second review after going 3+ times and I still swear by this place. So many spots are giving sugaring a horrible name because they aren't doing it as it was originally intended, they aren't sanitizing like they are supposed to, and using the same sugar patty over and over again. Zhila uses completely new ingredient every single time and uses 100% natural strips to pull everything up which gets ALL of your hair with no ingrown hairs. She was over 15 minutes late for my appointment. Came in, never washed her hands. Answered her phone while waxing me and never changed her gloves. When I sat down on the massage bed, there were dirty paper towels - probably from the day before. I mentioned I have curly hair so some areas need to go over more than once. Her response: " I've worked with several African Americans before you just weren't going to the right person" The appointment felt rushed, she missed a lot of hair, never asked me if I liked it. Mentioned I had some hairs that the wax didn't get (which I had given her a heads up in the beginning) and she said it was because of who I was going to before.
