The window display and interior design caught my eye while passing by the area. I chose the taro milk tea with 25% sugar and less ice solely based on the drink colour. As expected the tea taste was lacking and with overpowering taro sweetness. I give the branding and decor a solid 5 out of 5 but as a bubble tea place it had a lot of signs saying (do not touch, do not place drink here for photos, do not place your kid on counter) and no chairs or a bench in sight even though it had space to do so. It's a fun place to take photos but I probably won't be back for the drinks unless I was in that area again. read more

So many bubble tea shops in this area, which to choose? I suggest this one. And not only for the selfie opportunities (you'll see why when you walk in). The drinks themselves had the flavours and freshness that can be hard to find in similar bubble tea shops. True, the drinks took awhile to make but they seemed to be handcrafted with care. While I waited, a regular walked in and ordered 'the usual.' Also, at one point, a really friendly lady (the owner?) came out to chat with me. Overall, the tongue twisting Sweet Shady Shack definitely stands out in a crowd. read more

Totally a hidden gem in Midtown. I was quite hesitating to visit at first due to his techno colours, but things turned out delicious. I would highly recommend their milk tea, slushie and the brown sugar series. The flavour is more on the intense side here, which is why I love it. For my palate most of the items can be less sweet. Feel free to let them know and they'll be more than happy to adjust for you. Service is warm and attentive :) As of August 2021, there have been days when they closed with short notice. Best bubble tea in the area! Menu goes beyond standard options found at most places and the quality is great. The store is super cute and the owner is a lovely man. The recipes were developed by his wife, who he lost last year but her photos grace the walls. It's opening week!!! That being said, they are giving away free cotton candy which is definitely enticing! As far as their bubbletea goes, they only serve cold drinks. With Fall coming up, that maaayy be a downfall BUT they are also a coffee/tea/sandwich shop so there are some hot options there! The bbt comes in one size, in a cute little branded cup. What I like about this place is that their prices aren't taxed, so I paid $5 flat for a taro bbt with tapioca. I hadn't asked about altering the sugar levels, but I didn't see that option on the menu. Unfortunately, the space is not wheelchair/stroller friendly because there ARE a couple steps to get to the cash BUT it IS kid friendly (as the decor and art around the shop is colourful and vibrant). There IS a seating area right when you get in, but seating is limited (there are about 10 chairs to sit on). The staff are very welcoming and friendly (I believe it's a family franchise). & (assuming BECAUSE it's opening week) the place itself is very clean and well-kept. read more

This brand new bubble tea place is absolutely Adorable! The cheerful cartoon-ish decor will delight adults and children alike. Even the cup looks like a person wearing sunglases! The price point is great, $4.99 for their standard size. I ordered a brown sugar milk tea. I found it to be the perfect amount of sugar and flavor, but I tend to like my brown sugar drinks on the sugary side. The staff, who I believe is a mother son team, is very friendly and helpful. The lady who made the drinks, hand delivered my drink to me and offered me a free macaroon since they have just opened. They had a variety of flavours but I chose the bubble gum one. The macroon itself was excellently made. Flavour wise the bubble gum macaroon has a very intense flavour, which made me thankful I had a delicious drink to wash it down. She also informed me that since my drink was freshly made so I should stir it up to get optimal flavor. This is important because the brown sugar flavouring is at the bottom, so if you drink it without stiring it up, you will be left with slightly brown sugar flavoured milk. Besides bubble tea they also serve grill cheese sandwiches and macaroons. The space itself has seating either along a wall across from where you order or at the front of the space. The seating is ideal for groups of 2-3 but not for larger groups who may wish to sit together. read more

What a treat! My partner and I were craving bubble tea and out of all the nearby options, Sweet Shady Shack was by far one of the most welcoming. The owner does all of the digital artwork both inside and outside the store, and he and (I'm assuming) his wife were friendly, up for a chat, and had no problem with how long it took us to make our choice (there are a LOT of options!) It's a great little shop with amazing owners. Very friendly, kind, and always a pleasant conversation with them. The drinks include real fruit juice and pieces as well as tapioca, jelly, or chia seeds depending on the drink. The price points for the quality and value are definitely reasonable, especially when compared to other bubble tea shops. My favourite is getting the fruit teas with the mango popping boba, which you don't often see at most bubble tea shops. It adds a fun and pleasant burst of flavour to your drink. I have easily become one of Sweet Shady Shack's "regulars". This place boosts a lot of vibrant energy, yummy milk tea drinks, and quick bites (hotdog and grilled cheese sandwich are both awesome). They are probably the cheapest around the area and since it is a small family owned business, the service is always warm and welcoming. My favourites are Kumquat lemon green tea with Chia Seeds (healthy stuff), and brown sugar Mocha (for treat days). The design and liveliness of the place is perfect for the gloomy winter weather! soo i've heard a lot about this place a lot and wanted to give it a try. many bubble tea places don't take cash but this shop does, which was a relief after going to 2 more stores the same day and getting rejected by both o()o one of the best customer services i've received tbh, the lady was so sweet and nice to talk to. she complimented my outfit and mentioned her wedding. so cute (ノ・・)ノ i got a large brown sugar milk tea w/ pearls and it was really tasty! but i don't recommend getting large size drink after eating a meal. so don't do what i did because it made me get stomach ache but that is 100% on me after all, everything was nice. would go again read more
