This place is cute, sweet (literally!) and an easy day trip from Atlanta - only about an hour away. Perfect for anyone, young or old. Just two things you need to know before you go: **Note that the farm is EAST of I-85**. This means if you're coming down from Atlanta, take a left turn off the exit, and it will be about a mile and a half up the road on the right. The map on this page and in Google maps is correct; the map on the farm's Facebook page and Apple Maps is wrong! They both show the farm west of the interstate and we spent some time driving around there trying to find the farm before trying the other side of the highway.** [glad we did or we would have missed out!] **CALL BEFORE YOU GO!** Every few days or so the orchard needs to close down to allow more berries to ripen for picking -- this is common for all strawberry patches. If you're driving any distance, you don't want to come all that way just to find you can't pick. If they're open, I advise arriving early so they're not over-picked the day you arrive. Current hours (as of 5/7/18) Tues, Thurs, Sat 10-6 Sun 1-5 Or by appointment Now for the experience itself: Utterly charming! Once we did find the farm, we had a lovely time. There were plenty of berries. It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon and there was a lot of space; no crazy amounts of crowds. The owners were just as lovely as can be. You collect a basket at the start and fill to your heart's content. (note: the darker the berries, the sweeter they are!) You pay by weight; I got a ridiculous amount of berries for only $10. Note that you'll be bending down a lot - strawberry plants are low to the ground, after all. But it's not a strenuous workout. Ripe berries will pop right off easily! And the patch is literally right there at the entrance where you park your car, so no need to worry about walking a long distance either. I went with two other adults and we had a grand time. There were also families there with children and they were having a blast too - so definitely pack up the kids for a day of fun out in the sun and come here.

We were the only ones present & it felt like a private Family picking for us. It was a hot day. It was surely fun. I've picked cherries previously, however, this was first for Blueberries. We picked up about 13 pounds. We plan to alert Blueberry Jam. We would come back again.

The first thing my husband did was ask about the peaches. Of course that's the reason he went there. My search was for the peach preserves like my great grandmother made. I didn't stop there, I saw many condiments, salad dressings, old fashion candies. They also have a dessert eatery inside. Customer service was very insightful. Because we didn't go for the activities or petting of the animals, I can't write much about that. Overall, on my next visit I will try the famous MiMi's pound cake which they rave about. A fun fall date!…read more Southern Belle Farm, located in McDonough, provides hours of wholesome fun and free parking. My wife and I arrived on a warm October day to enjoy the pumpkin patch and U-pick flowers. We arrived in the afternoon, but there was plenty of selection and nothing was "picked over." I paid $16 for a quart sized plastic vase for my U-pick flowers. They sell gallon sized buckets as well. Scissors and water are provided. Be mindful of bees in the field. They won't trouble you if you don't trouble them. There is an area in the back for you to arrange the flowers; I took full advantage of this because this trip doubled as a photo shoot. There were all types of people enjoying the farm; IG girls, families, even one couple using a wagon full of pumpkins as a baby announcement. Pumpkins range from $5-$20 each depending on size and breed. A nice young man named Luke helped us corral our pumpkins and carry them to our car. I didn't know they offered that service, but we tipped well. If you run up an appetite, they have a snack bar with fritters, ice cream, and lemonade. I'll be back next fall!

Like I said, this place is a hidden gem in a hidden location. Its basically in somebody's back yard. lol You will need to go through a railroad track and the small driveway with a sign will be on your left. The employees here are super friendly. They won't say any smart-ass comments like, "I don't mind you sampling 1 of 2, but don't be there eating a lot." They also won't be there staring you down and following you. You can either get the $12 small buckets or the bigger baskets which is $2.00 per pound. Of course, I wanted the bigger baskets. LOL The farm is HUGE! Countless rows of Green and Red muscadines! Be careful of bugs especially ants and bees. There was many mosquitoes but I sprayed myself with tons of "Off" repellent. The muscadines here were big, ripe, sweet, and juicy. I also hit muscadine picking season around Labor day weekend and it goes into early October I believe. But you want to hit it well before October or most of the muscadines will be already picked. I have been here many times during October and it was super hard to find any muscadines as most of them have already been picked. There are port a potties here. Plenty of grass parking here as well. I highly recommend this place if your into some muscadine picking. I can't wait to come back again!!

Beware that the ground can be wet so be sure to wear shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Everybody was so kind and my daughter was offered a popsicle after we were done picking blueberries. They also sell a variety of homemade foods. We tried the blueberry lemonade and the chocolate pound cake. The lemonade had a robust blueberry flavor and just enough lemons to give it a kick. The cake was not overly sweet but it was still very delicious. While we were on the field they played classical music which gave a nice ambience while picking blueberries. I highly recommend this place for people with kids.

Well, it's closed now for the season but keep this in mind for next year. This family-owned and family-friendly farm is a quick drive from town. Besides families, it also seems popular with college students and couples. Parking is easy and admission is $2 which isn't bad for what you get: access to several pumpkin patches, the corn maze, sunflower picking, farm animal viewing/petting, tractor rides, and amusements for kiddies including a game where you see who can pump water the fastest to float a rubber duckie down a slide. Yes, I had too much fun playing this duck race. I saw hot dogs and lemonade for sale, but nothing pumpkin-related such as pie. I think an opportunity is being missed! Local honey is available for purchase too which is cool. The pumpkins aren't cheap, but then again, you're paying for an experience. I recommend bringing your own shears if you have them since the patch might be all out. The big pumpkins are already detached from the vines but if you want a smaller one, you'll have to snip it yourself. Also, it sounds like Farmer in the Dell will be offering pre-cut Christmas trees during the holidays and will be having peaches next year, so it's not just squashes. The staff is always on their game, and they always have a smile on their faces. The quality of their products are always top notch. Best part....it is affordable compared to most family activities.
