We went in to "town" to shop last Monday before we departed Tuesday morning. As the ladies finished up shopping they made comment of everyone walking by w ice cream.... then spied a sign that they gleefully read aloud "76 flavors!!" I opted for a cup of the delicious Ultimate Peanut Butter Brownie!! It came w a small waffle cone piece on top. The ice cream flavors are so unique that it's not too overwhelming. I didn't shop around but I'm pretty sure I was in candy heaven! I didn't peruse the taffy wall, just enough to see there were dozens of flavors for $11.99/pound. There are several candy/fudge stores almond this main artery that I didn't check out so I'm not sure how Sweet Spot stacks up, all I know is that the four of us left satisfied. (I didn't check to see if it was pet friendly, I just automatically believe a food-service place wouldn't appreciate a 90 pound dog blowing his coat in the store!) The horrible service is a great distraction from how gross the fudge tastes. Highlights here include: being blatantly ignored for no less than five minutes while employees chat with their friends and being condescended to when asking what the difference was between two flavors. "There's like 50 flavors and you think I know what they all are?" is not an appropriate answer especially when most of those flavors are as as difficult to understand as Dark Chocolate and Mint Chocolate. This seemed to be the go to place for tourists and visitors for locally made ice cream in the area, and wow, they offered so many different flavors - from classic flavors to local or Michigan specific ones. Judging from the amount of ice cream left at the shop, it looked like 'Superman' was the number one most popular flavor. I decided to go double with that flavor and 'Blue Moon', both of which were quite delicious - sugary and most definitely with very fun colors. The blue in 'Superman' was actually 'Blue Moon' though, just FYI. The red was cherry and the yellow was just vanilla. I had to have it cause this flavor screamed the most Michigan. I think a double cup was $4.99 if I recall correctly fly. The shop sold far more stuff than just ice cream, just so you know; it was basically a fusion of an ice cream shop and a candy store, so you'd find some fudge in here as well. read more

This place has four cases of about twenty different flavors of ice cream. It could be bad if you're indecisive... but you'll definitely find at least one flavor to love! This place was a pretty nice surprise. They have a TON of varieties of fudge. We didn't buy ours from here, but they had flavors that I've never seen at the other ones- like Superman and Cheesecake. The slices are prewrapped and look a little thin and soft, but I can't speak to that from experience. What we DID buy here is popcorn. There's a whole wall of it. We got some sort of special combination package pricing that was like four bags for $30 and it came with a tote bag. We got a large bacon cheddar, a large ranch, and a small banana split, plus a large of plain ole buttered popcorn. The flavor on the bacon cheddar one was explosive, and well worth the money. The banana split one is (obviously) super sweet, but definitely tastes like banana. I want to come back to try the Mountain Dew flavor. read more

This place was great. Lots of treats and they kept giving me samples!!!! With that said, I had to get some ice cream (before dinner) and picked up five bags of popcorn. Very cute and fun place. So much so that we went back and sampled MORE then had to try a new flavor of their homemade ice cream. I think their popcorn here was a tinch above the rest as each place has their own unique styles of making it. They also have candy and truffles. I had to try a couple of the raspberry chocolates. The raspberry truffle was much better than the raspberry jelly filled chocolate. If you're in mackinaw city this is a must do...fun little place with delicious treats. read more

Stopped in here to try their ice cream during my trip to mackinaw. What really made me choose this place over the dozen other shops was the flavored cones! I ordered a chocolate cone with Amerreto Cherry & Superman ice cream. The cherry was reaaally good. The service was ok, definitely far from friendly. If the service was better I'd give a higher rating. They also had sweets popcorn and fudge. It's like a one stop shop, but I'd rather get all that from stores dedicated to popcorn, fudge, etc. I'd say give this place a go. I will try other mackinaw ice cream then leave a review to this! Gale force winds on a ridiculously blustery fall afternoon could not keep us away. The winds were actually blowing the door open if left ajar at all. We could see the waves crashing at the ferry dock down the block, but we still wanted ice cream. It did not disappoint! We each chose some sort of "Mackinac Island" flavor (how could we NOT based on where we were), one chocolate based on one peanut butter based. They were both fantastic and the portions were very generous. We ran to the car to seek refuge from the crazy winds. But, we're looking forward to returning to Sweet Spot when we'll actually have to be concerned about our ice cream actually melting if we don't eat it quickly enough! read more

On a trip to Mackinac Island we stopped by this ice cream place in Mackinaw City. They make their own flavored cones which are delicious. My friend got a blue raspberry cone with candy play dough ice cream and she enjoyed it. I got the Michigan Pot Hole ice cream in a chocolate cone and it was so creamy and chocolatey. Awful fudge! Go to the authentic fudge shops. When we asked to try different flavors the girl gave up pieces the size of eraser heads. She seemed bothered by our request. They offered the best deal on buying fudge, but it wasn't worth it. The fudge was oily and soft even after being refrigerate. We had the same experience with the taffy we purchased (half the taffy was stuck to the wrapper and super gooey). We asked if we could have a refund considering we thought it was a bad batch, but the worker said there was nothing she could do otherwise her manager would make her pay for the refund. . When we told Kilwins about it while we were buying REAL fudge, they told us sweet spot has their fudge & taffy shipped from China. Moral of the story, stick to the authentic places and don't go for the best deal at a random place. read more

This place is amazing! It looks so cute and very inviting from the outside. The minute you walk in you feel like you're in ice cream heaven. I don't think there's any flavor they don't have. The portion are huge and the waffles delicious...I only had one scoop and my waffle broke, haha it could've been my grip, so much excitement to taste it...haha. Well, they gave me another one. This place was pretty awesome! They have different flavor waffle cones including a superman one!! I got the chocolate with brownie batter ice cream! Tons of different flavor ice creams! There are also more flavors of popcorn that I've ever seen in one place including the classics such as caramel corn, cheddar, etc. There are also fun flavors like beer, and again superman! I didn't buy any popcorn though because the girls behind the popcorn counter were kind of rude (the reason for the 4 stars rather than 5). The ice cream people were super friendly and helpful! Were looking for a local ice cream place, and this one came up often. But I have to say we were disappointed. There is a lot of variety, but we got attitude asking for more than one sample. There also seemed to be a language barrier. I asked which flavors they were known for and/or were the most popular and she couldn't give me an answer. Thought the ice cream was fine, but not something we would eat again. Too many other places to try. Probably the most disappointing part, though, is that even though the place is large, they have no seating. The entire back part is dedicated to toys and other money grabs. It was raining, so we ended up eating our ice cream huddled in a neighboring doorway with others who also couldn't believe they had not one table. Best place for ice cream in Mackinaw City. No matter how crowded it is there is never a long wait. A lot of flavors to choose from.

We got 2 different flavors of ice cream, orange pineapple and sea salt caramel and both were delicious! There were so many different flavors that it was hard to choose what to get!
