They don't say too much when you come into the store- I guess to let you browse but it was a little awkward. No prices are posted anywhere - she said 'it has to be weighed' - how about just a sign with the normal lb price somewhere besides the scale? So sharing here- $25.95/lb for just a single slice purchase. This is a gift for our family reunion so will weigh in on taste later. They do have specials - I've posted the current ones, but you have to buy quite a bit more and we just don't have room for anything else at the moment. Smells amazing in here tho. read more

This little shop is in the downtown area where a lot of people walk around. Parking can be a bit difficult depending on the time of day, but I luckily found a spot out front. First off, when you walk in, you're not greeted or anything. There's no information on prices or details on the flavors. When I asked, a staff member told me the standard price of each piece. It wasn't obvious that it'd be weighed, so I was very surprised when my price was even more than I expected. Additionally, they made an odd comment regarding how little I was spending, which felt off to me. It definitely wasn't little to me. I took my expensive slice across to the beach to enjoy. It was not the best in my opinion. I'd try a different kind, but not for that price. I wouldn't return. read more

In a place that has a fudge shop every 100 feet this was the shop that everyone recommended. The fudge was deliciously creamy and vey rich. They have a great selection and the staff always had a smile on their face no matter how busy they got. Be careful, the selection is so big and everything looks so delicious, it is easy to order more than you need. read more

I have been a customer here for MANY years always stopping on my way back to California or now Las Vegas. I'm a transplanted Yooper. Grew up in the UP. My last visit this past weekend was somewhat different in that, as a Disabled Veteran, I'm now in a wheelchair. Imagine my surprise when I realized I could not even get in the door because of the door sill with no mini-ramp. Aren't ALL businesses required to comply with ADA allowing wheelchair access. Mass confusion all around of who was next. Ended up with a lively, but short, disagreement of who was next. The employee did nothing to help the situation as she "did not know who was next". The wait seemed mostly to do with the customer uncertainty of what they wanted yet unagreeable to the worker moving on to those that were not looking to waste everyone's time. Fudge as good, but they lost around half the business they could have had from them just walking out the door from the poor line management and slow turn around times. read more

Yes, I'm a tourist and couldn't wait to try the fudge onMackinac Island. However, I was admittedly a little disappointed. The fudge we tried, with and without nuts, was a little dry and just okay. I know this place has a great story, history and following, but I prefer a fudge with more moisture and flavor to it. I'm sure it tastes different if you get a fresh batch, but for this "fudgie" and for the price you pay for just about anything on the island, I might try a different place on my next visit to here. read more

There are a million places to get fudge in northern Michigan and especially on Mackinac Island. Murdick's, however, started it all as the first fudgery in the mid-1800s and I'm a sucker for tradition. Even if the old world charm is a bit gone in this modern day, there's still something wonderful about watching the process of goopy fudge being poured onto big marble slabs while you sample a variety of creamy sugary treats. Like all, Murdick's offers a slew of inventive options, but I tend to stick to the classics, chocolate and chocolate peanut butter. However, I did venture to a Murdick's staple, double chocolate sea salt caramel and it was worth the adventure! read more

I really enjoyed the fudge I got at Murdicks, but the next day I had Joann's and found it to be better overall (and more affordable). If you are just in st ignace, I'm not sure that there's a Joann's, so I would recommend getting this over not trying the area's fudge. If you will be heading to the island, hold out for Joann's. better cs, prices, and fudge. read more

Yay! I was on the hunt for plain chocolate fudge with caramel. I can't eat nuts, so this was a challenge. Luckily, Murdick's had just the fudge for me. It had salted caramel. It was fresh, very carmelly, and it is already all GONE! It was good, folks. I recommend getting some fudge here. read more

We came to northern Michigan to enjoy he fall colors and planned on going to Mackinac Island for the day. However, being Michigan the weather changes at the drop of a hat. It was windy and rainy the day we planned to ride over and we were bummed to decline on the day trip since it would've been miserable for out 4 year old. We were already booked at a hotel in St Ignace which is to the north of the island. We still wanted to make a day out of the trip and get some fudge. Even though this is not off of the island, we still really enjoyed the service as well as the quality provided here. I would definetely recommend if your not riding the boats to Mackinac Island. :) read more

I visited here on the way home from the U.P. because of the great reviews I read. I got 5 flavored; cherry, chocolate, peanut butter, some kind of coffee flavor, and walnut. We only liked two flavors but at that we really liked them. The walnut and the coffee flavored. Very good and I don't usually like fudge. read more
