    Taro grand slam bowl
    Lilian N.

New dessert place at Langham Place with classic Chinese style ambiance. We went there 2 months ago, but there was a long queue, so we gave up. This time we went there at 10pm and not so busy. However, there were a few items we wanted to try that wasn't available, the ginger milk pudding :( We ordered Taro Grand Slam bowl and Stewed peach gum & snow swallow with papaya. Both are not too sweet and the taro balls are chewy. Fair price and quality.

If you enjoy Chinese or Hong Kong style traditional desserts with a fun modern twist, this spot is perfect. There are lots of toppings and customization options to choose from, which makes it even more enjoyable. We ordered the mango-based dessert with taro ball toppings and the Taro Grand Slam, which comes with coconut milk, grass jelly, taro, red bean, and sago. Both were super tasty and served in traditional bowls, which was a nice touch. Service was great too, the staff kept refilling our tea without us even asking. You line up at the entrance, get a buzzer, and wait for your turn. We waited a little over 30 minutes after dinner, but it was totally worth it. Overall, a cozy spot for classic Hong Kong style desserts with a modern twist. Definitely worth the wait and hype!

The desserts were all very good and not very sweet. Good traditional HK style desserts. It is a small place so you may have to wait if full. The service was very good and efficient.

The spacing is small, clean and bright. Overall comfortable spot for a quick dessert place. Make sure to come early because it does get busy at night time. You may have to wait a but to get in line. Tips: Go to the front and ask for a handheld vibrating device to wait in line. The desserts were delicious. Loved the coconut milk purple glutinous selections. We tried both items from the glutinous rice options and enjoyed it. I will definitely be back to try other items.

If you're planning to dine in, be prepared for a bit of a wait, as the store tends to get quite busy. We tried the Chewy Mango Delight with sago and the Double Skin Milk Pudding with red bean both were enjoyable and not overly sweet, which we liked. However, either didn't particularly stand out, especially with so many similar dessert spots in the area. The pudding in my opinion was also on the smaller size for the price. Since the store is newly opened and experiencing high traffic, the overall experience felt rushed we felt pressured to order, eat, and leave quickly. The space is also quite small, with only six tables, which added to the feeling of being hurried. Many items were already sold out by the time we arrived, which was understandable since we visited about an hour before closing. However, it would be helpful if staff informed customers about low availability in advance so they can better decide whether it's worth the wait.

The glutinous rice was a bit stronger in taste than I expected, but still enjoyable.

That level of care really comes through in the cup; you can taste the depth and intentionality in every sip. I ordered the vanilla bean iced latte, and it was easily one of the best espresso bases I've had in a while. The shot itself was rich and layered: deep, chocolatey, and nutty striking a really nice balance between bitterness and acidity. It finished with a smooth, almost creamy note that made the whole drink incredibly enjoyable. The only downside is the size-to-price ratio. At around CAD $8.50 for what felt like a 10 oz drink, it's definitely on the pricier side for something that goes down this easily. Still, I'd absolutely come back when I'm in the mood for a more premium coffee experience. (Funny note - the barista and I had a small rant together about how people order "iced cappuccino" and macchiato expecting Starbucks milk sugary drink instead of the "proper" shot with dollop of foam. I understand their pain hahah)

My cousin and I arrived shortly after opening on New Year's Eve. The cafe has a small interior with minimal seating, mostly bench seating along the wall with small round coffee tables. Even though there was only one barista working that morning, she was efficient at taking orders and making drinks despite several orders happening at once. We did not feel like we were waiting very long. I ordered a pour-over with the Finca El Paraiso Peach Colombian beans, which use a thermal shock washed process. That was something I had not heard of before. The tasting notes listed nectarine, tropical fruit, and caramel, and it was recommended since I was looking for something more out of the ordinary. I enjoyed the wilder flavor profile, but it was hard to fully appreciate because the coffee tasted overly diluted. The barista mentioned she used a 15g to 250g bean-to-water ratio, which is higher than how I normally enjoy my pour-overs. My cousin ordered a flat white with whole milk that was very creamy with strong espresso notes. We also ordered a matcha latte for my other cousin, which was apparently too creamy. Overall, the beans themselves were good, but the pour-over leaned watery for my personal preference. The bag of beans used for the pour-over was priced at $32, which is only a bit more than double the cost of the pour-over itself. In hindsight, I felt slightly ripped off and should have just bought the beans instead.

They only sell high quality special coffee beans. On the wall shelves, you can see the special coffee tools they sell. The interior style really like a lab or a factory. Raw but stylish. It's more like a roasting factory dedicated to perfecting coffee. I ordered a pot of hand-drip "Melona." The first sip wasn't particularly amazing. But it was very clean. Slowly, the clear fruity aromas of honeydew melon and cantaloupe emerged, not overpoweringly acidic, but rather a gentle, restrained layering. It's the kind of coffee you find yourself drinking the whole pot without even realizing it. The space inside is also a big plus. The front area displays various coffee beans and related products, and a whole wall of transparent glass allows you to see the roasting factory in operation behind it. And their product line is incredibly comprehensive: coffee beans, equipment, instant coffee, canned coffee, espresso, and even ice cream (The most complete I've ever seen) I didn't have time to try many beans today, but I'm already looking forward to the Lychee flavor I'll be ordering in a few weeks More suitable for coffee enthusiasts (especially pour-over lovers) Clean flavor with detail, not the overly pleasing type Perfect for sitting alone for a long time
