Came here for a midnight snack, but was surprised to see that dozens of other groups had the same idea, but it just goes to show that Sugar marmalade is a great hangout spot (Both for the day and night). Although the inside was packed full, the turnover was fairly quick. We were seated within minutes. Sugar Marmalade is one of the few places that are open past midnight, and it makes them a great choice, not just for their hours, but their variety of food. If you want a meal, snack, dessert or drink, they have it. My friends and I shared the mango sago, condensed milk toast with black sesame icecream and the hong kong style rice rolls. All dishes hit the spot. If you like "not too sweet" this is the place. Definitely keep this place in mind for your next hangout!
We got the diy shaved ice with mango matcha ice cream lychee jelly and popping yogurt. It was really good I wanna come next time and try their other dessert. The portion is so big, the matcha ice cream is so good with the lychee, it's pretty easy to order just scan the QR code, order press confirm and they bring it to your table. It was packed like crazy very small space I wanna come again and try their other desserts.
It's like a one stop dessert shop that has bubble tea, snacks, Chinese desserts and more. They're a fusion dessert shop and I've been here a couple of times and also at their other locations. The desserts here are okay, nothing really special with them but it does hit the spot sometimes. A great spot to work from during the day as they have free wifi for paying customers. There was only one other table there at the time when I decided to work from their shop while enjoying my honey green tea. Drink came out quickly and it was a nice quiet space to be at.
Visited Sugar Marmalade on a busy Friday night with a party of three. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated, which felt reasonable given the crowd. Once seated, ordering through the QR code was quick and efficient, though the seating felt a bit cramped. Despite that, the atmosphere was lively and the late hours are a definite plus. We tried the Mango Shaved Ice and Hazelnut Chocolate Toast. The Mango Shaved Ice was refreshing, with a nice tartness from the mango balancing well against the vanilla ice cream and shaved ice. I did find the shaved ice texture a bit coarse compared to other spots where it's finer and fluffier. The aloe vera jellies added a pleasant, refreshing twist. The Hazelnut Chocolate Toast was a bit too bitter for my taste and lacked a hazelnut flavour--I prefer a sweeter chocolate flavor. The ordering system was slightly confusing regarding whether chocolate ice cream was included or an add-on, so we ended up with two scoops by mistake. Just a heads-up to double-check when ordering. Overall, Sugar Marmalade offers tasty desserts with good service, though seating can be tight and some menu items might not suit all palates. Worth a visit if you're in the FMP area and craving something sweet late at night!
My cousins live in Markham and know all the best places (although I've yet to visit any place there that didn't impress the socks out off of me). This place was no exception. They have a bajillion things on their menu from drinks, desserts, actual entrees, savory snacks, ice creams all with the best Asian flavor combinations like mango, black sesame, red bean, condensed milk, mmmm... Our group ordered Hong Kong style French toast (which is vastly superior to any French toast I've ever had in my life!), mango sago tapioca liquid dessert, durian cheese toast, deep fried PB cubes!!! OMG!!!, san-bei ji (3-cup chicken), Taiwanese popcorn chicken, 2 specialty smoothie milky drinks, mmmmm! Everything was absolute bomb but the 3-cup chicken had a slight curry taste which was unfamiliar in this dish. Still good but not my favorite version of this classic dish. It's open late and so packed that we had to wait like 20min for an open table but I loved the lively atmosphere and cutesy decor. Wanted to order everything but this was already 2nd dinner, hahaha. We NEED something like this in the States where even if there was a dessert place, it closes at like 5 or 6pm...
After a nice dinner with my GF the past Friday, we were in the hunt of some desserts in Markham area. We always enjoyed sweets from this spot n it never disappoints. It was pretty packed n we got a table quickly. I got Fresh Durian with Pearl Delight $11.99. Very much you can smell the durian as it approached the table. I would love the durian meat to be a little bigger as a durian lover. It is overall tasty n refreshing. My GF got Mango Mille-Feuille $15.99 which is huge n delicious. It came with 3 puffs, whipped cream and fresh mango in between plus a vanilla ice cream on the side. It was in a shareable portion. Overall we enjoyed our visit. By paying by cash, we got a 5% discount.
Definitely overrated and over hyped! When my partner and I arrived, there were absolutely no seats. We decided to order to-go through their kiosk. The service was not too friendly, not sure if it's because they're overwhelmed. There's no greeting of any patrons entering. They also don't call you if your order or table is ready. I ordered a tofu dessert, and my partner ordered a boba. The tofu dessert was not what I expected. They did not give me any sugar syrup to eat with it. It ended up being plain Jane, and that's not what I'm used to for this specific dessert. My partner enjoyed their boba, but I personally find it too sweet. I can't speak on their other desserts. It was also tough trying to find parking on a Saturday night, when it's shared with the entire plaza. I'd suggest coming when they are not busy, and reserve a table ahead of time.
We arrived at 10pm on a Wednesday night and they were still very busy. Wait time was about 10 minutes and we were seated. However, you have to order thru the scan code which took us a while. But with modern technology, I guess this is the way to order food nowadays. I just don't know how the older generation will do. We didn't have dinner so we made the mistake of ordering rice dishes and udon and that is NOT what they are known for. My son got the curry chicken over rice and my hubby and I shared the picked cabbage with pork belly over rice and both of the dishes was super tiny and NOT worth it for the price. My little guy got the beef udon and it was not great either. The desserts was a completely different deal. Desserts was super delicious. We got the mango sago with tapioca, cheesecake, ginger milk with mango gluttonous tapioca balls and my favorite, Ube shaved ice with lychee jelly, watermelon and black sesame ice cream. All the desserts was fantastic! Service was not great. No one check in on us. Didn't get any water. No napkins and they were soooo busy that no one really serviced us I am only able to give 3 stars. 1 star knocked off for terrible rice dishes and 1 star knocked off for the service. I will come back and try again and perhaps my review might change!
3.5 STARS Met up with my two friends to catch up and decided to sit inside sugar marmalade. Place is cute, and already had some customers enjoying their desserts while chatting. We were instructed to take a picture of their QR code and order from there, simple and easy. We got the cheurng fun with peanut and hoisin sauce, Dalgona milk tea and the mango slush. We really enjoyed the cheurng fun as it came hot piping hot, and the sauces along with it was the right amount of of sweet and savoury. I took a sip of the dalgona milk... did not like it. It was very bland to say the least. The mango slush was okay, it tasted watered down, but it was a lot better compared to the coffee milk tea.

The coco torpedo is amazing. Papaya snow fungus is the best, Mango shave ice is a Wah! Grape crystal Raman is a must try and don't forget the durian pancake ( the pancake is a must try). Be adventurous.... They are all good. read more

Horrible service, dishonest billing, and food that doesn't match the menu! Avoid this place. The male server we had was incredibly rude, the food was a total mess, and the customer service was downright shady. The "Shaved Ice" Scam: My friend and I ordered matcha and strawberry shaved ice. When they arrived, there was zero ice--just heavy scoops of creamy ice cream. We only touched the top digging for ice we thought was hidden underneath. When we complained (after ringing the table bell 4 times just to get him to come over), the server aggressively insisted it was ice. He asked if we wanted to cancel, we said yes, and he took BOTH bowls back to the kitchen. Messed Up Second Order: We ordered replacements, including mango and black sticky rice with coconut milk. It came out as a watery liquid with the consistency of soup, filled with sago (which isn't even in the dish) and zero sticky rice. Before even looking at it, the server got defensive and lied, saying "that's what you ordered." He didn't even apologize when he finally took it back. Shady Billing Trick: When the bill came, he had only canceled ONE of the shaved ice desserts he took back. They charged us for food they physically took away! When I called the restaurant immediately after leaving, he had the audacity to argue, claiming he told me when he brought the bill. You are supposed to tell a customer before you take their food away, not sneak it onto the bill. He then tried to act like he did me a favor by canceling one because "half was gone" (a total lie). No apology, just awful attitude. Look at the photos: I uploaded what the menu shows versus the disgusting, watery soup I actually got. Absolute garbage customer service. Save your money. read more
This Asian dessert place is conveniently located at First Markham. They offer many different types of dessert and drinks. I was a bit surprised they also have rice and noodles. I ordered a golden treasures mixed and a mango coconut sago mixed. Both were delicious - definitely satisfied the craving. However imo it is a bit overpriced and not quite worth it. read more

September 16, 2025 - I tried the Hong Kong Style curry chicken on rice. It is really good comfort food. The curry had a bit of a spice to it and the sauce went really well with the rice. read more
This is my go to place for a quick dessert. I have had various desserts here all good. I also enjoy their chicken wings and fries. Wings are fried well and the fries are crisp with a nice salt seasoning. My favourite, the mango shaved ice. So good. I will continue to visit this location. read more

Not my first time having Sugar Marmalade but it was my first time visiting this FMP location. Pros: -Opens till late (1am) so it's a good hangout spot with friends after dinner. -Reasonable pricing, cheaper than a lot of other dessert chains. -Ordering system via QR code makes it easy to split the bill if everyone orders off their own phones. Cons: -Food is just mediocre. My "black sesame egg waffle" tasted like plain original batter. It was also a bit dry. Not chewy and fluffy like I'd hope. Mango Pearl Delight was also just standard. -Seating is a bit tight, especially in the winter when everyone has jackets. Overall, this chain is not my favorite for dessert but I occasionally enjoy their snack/hot foods. read more
This review is for the First Markham Place location. I came here on a Friday evening around 8:30 with a party of two. The place was pretty busy but I only waited about 10 minutes for a seat. Sugar Marmalade has a large menu with food, drinks, and desserts. I ordered the kimchi fries and the original egg waffle, both which were so good. The portion sizes were pretty good and prices are reasonable. You order directly from your phone which is quick and convenient. read more

Pretty disappointed with my dine-in experience! I ordered the frostbite taro drink ($7.49) which supposed to come with fresh taro. Also, the pictures on the poster clearly shows fresh taro. When I received my drink, I didn't receive any fresh taro so I decided to tell the server about the issue. The server response was " no it didn't come with it" and proceed to walk away. I wished the server could've done more with the service as I wasn't happy with the drink. I find the price of the drink a little over priced for a regular sized drink and the service was pretty much to non-existent. The only way you can get service is to press the button located on the side of the table. read more
I came here today to try their drinks and light meal/snack items. They specialize in drinks so I had high expectations for their drinks especially since these were so expensive. We got the Durian Deluxe for $8.99 and Passion fruit iced jasmine tea for $7.49. The drinks were good but a bit too pricey. Maybe these drinks would be more enjoyable if we were dining in chatting away with friends. We also got the HK style steam rice rolls and Taiwanese mince pork rice which were both pretty good so we'll likely come back for the food. read more
4 stars for the desserts we've tried so far. Love their steamed ginger and egg white dessert. Perfect sweetness and gingerness. Very tasty. This is my go to and repeat order. Their milk pudding was also nice, light and not too sweet. Strawberry shaved ice was also pretty good, especially for takeout. Coconut sago was decent, sometimes feels a tad watered down but would definitely get mango sago during the summer when its at its peak freshness. Solid spot with a lot of different dessert options. I would definitely keep ordering my fave steamed dessert and continue trying different items on their menu. read more

Here on Saturday night, prime time for this dessert restaurant, it's not my first time here. Walking into the establishment, you notice the young trendy decor, then a wall of noise hits you!!! OMG!! It's deafening! I've to put on my headset to cut some of the ambience noise out! Very tempted to drop the rating by 1 star to 3 due to the noise level. Dessert is dessert nothing fancy nothing exceptional, looks nice. But the cooked food taste like it's cooked meat, served on package gravy. But coming to a dessert place to eat main dinner entree, mea culpa. Price is on the high side, but it is in par with this type of establishments. My suggestion, come at off peak hours for friendlier atmosphere. It's more enjoyable when I was here in the afternoon for tea snack. read more
My hubby and I decided to treat ourselves with some dessert after a long stressful day. We ordered thru Uber and got 40% off plus a free Golden Mango Sago if you spend over $30. My go to is the Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken cartilage... our usual orders since pre-covid19. Amazed to be able to taste it again, still perfection, crunchy, chewy with the sauce. We ordered fried man tou which is good, but nothing special with this dish, came dipped with condensed milk . I wish the outside crust be more fried. The Fresh durian with black grass jelly mixed was the highlight. The combination is so refreshing. A bite with durian, mixed with the grass jelly was so good. Finished my night snack with cold milk tea with coffee jelly. I was a happy camper after eating all! read more

This is another branch of the one off Finch . Not impressed with the quality even though same menu. Service was off and menus were not so clean . This mall is crazy busy so parking was challenging and parking lot very dark . Drive slowly people . The oreo dessert was nice . The durian pancake roll was durian ! read more

We went for dessert on a weekend night and it was very busy! We were still a low to get seated relatively quickly though, even with a large party. We ordered their egg waffles, mango drink, and the millet. My favorite was their mango drink! So creamy and perfect balance of sweetness and cold. read more
Sugar Marmalade has very decent dessert, although the portions for their sago is smaller than I expected. Nevertheless their dessert menu is quite big and there is a lot of options to choose from. They are also open late which makes for a good place to come sit and chat with friends. I'd definitely would want to try out other dessert options. read more
2.5-3 stars. The food was fine. But I am not happy with their service. I ordered two items and the waitress messed up one of the item. When the food arrived, I told her it was not what we ordered and she insisted that was what we ordered. Then, we just accepted it. However, when we almost finish the food, I remembered I took a picture of the menu. Then, I showed her the photo at the end, no apology and didn't offer any compensation. I guess that was Chinese store operates. Would I return? Em.... there are so many places in the same plaza offered Chinese dessert. It will not on the top of my list. read more

I wouldn't be the first one to suggest Sugar Marmalade but I wouldn't turn it down if my friends wanted to go. I don't think there's anything that makes them unique or sets them apart from other dessert places. I've tried a couple of things on the menu but none are particularly good or stand out in my mind other than: Japanese Teriyaki Fries ($6.99) - Not enough sauce. It's just regular fries after you finish the top layer. Still good and very crispy. I'd order this again but would ask for more sauce. Marshmallow Toast ($6.49) - Definitely need to share this unless you have a major sweet tooth. One bite was enough for me! We must've ordered 4+ things to share but we weren't given any side plates/bowls until we asked. On another occasion, I ordered a Green Tea Egg Waffle but it was meh. I love egg waffles but I wouldn't order any of the egg waffles desserts again - that's how underwhelming it was. As someone that doesn't carry cash, I dislike that cash is their only accepted form of payment in this day and age. In case you decide to share, be aware that they also have a minimum spending of $4.99/person. read more

I guess it was a wrong decision to order dinner at a place known for its dessert. Ordered two japanese curry pork cutlet rice via ubereats. $10 each plus delivery plus tax. First, I expect the pork cutlet to come on the side so that it won't get soggy. Second, I expect the sauce to be curry. Not curry flavored corn starch mix! So gross. The egg was so dark but it doesn't taste as strong. Wonder how long the egg has been sitting in the bland sauce. Potato was soooo soft and so was the little carrot. Rice was a bit too hard to my liking too. Overall it's such a pathetic pork cutlet rice. the $20 we spent is worth so much more at other restaurants that offer normal curry. Btw the one star was for the pork itself which has good texture and thickness. Not the batter tho cuz it's all soggy. read more

I enjoyed the signature dessert and regular sweet items from this place. It is probably my favorite dessert restaurant in Markham. It is clean and soft lighted. I would say this is a relaxing space for family and friends. They accept Vicinity program and offer affiliated promotion. Price is reasonable but it is quite busy when there was only one server when we left around 8pm. We came early after an early dinner. It was easy to get our server attention. Great dessert chef and friendly server. Generally, I would recommend it to my friends. We will be back to try other savoury and drinks. read more
Reason for Visit: Decided to try their Taiwanese shaved ice. Menu: A lot of options. Some things that are a bit different include their egg waffles with ice cream and some durian /black sesame desserts. Anyhow, I got their honeydew shaved ice. Price was similar to other shaved ice places ~$10 per bowl. To my surprise, this was huge! You should definitely share it with people. So at the end I prefer the Korean version a bit more. Service: Pretty standard. Nothing special. It does get busy so don't expect someone checking on you. Atmosphere: Pretty nicely renovated. Good atmosphere for a date. Overall: I would say it is worth trying once but probably won't be coming often unless it is for a quick date with someone. Come here if you like desserts! Also, come here if you don't like desserts! A great little dessert spot in the heart of Markham, specializing in small snacks and Chinese desserts. With an extensive menu, and everything being quite amazing, picking something out from the menu is tough. But, my go to is the red rice with coconut milk topped with durian. The durian is always nice and sweet, with creamy coconut milk and chewy red glutinous rice. A perfect dish! Another go-to of mine is the mango sago, which is I believe their most popular dessert here. The mango is always sweet, with nice chunks of mango and the sago is always there to provide some interesting texture. 3.5 I came here a few times and every time, it was busy. I tried the mango shaved ice - Taiwanese style shaved ice with lots of mango flavours. if you love mangos this is a good dish for you. It is good portion size for 2 people to share. I tried other stuff like Oreo pudding which was meh. They have a wide menu which I would like to try. Service is meh, you have to get their attention.
