Be advised, if you have to cancel for a very legitimate reason within the 24 hour window on a busy day, you will lose $70. I have been a Sweetheart Tan customer since 2017, always with Audrey. I get tans for special occasions/vacations a few times per year. I am as pale as they come, Audrey was always cognizant of that and conservative with the color. You will never leave ST orange, but sometimes you could barely tell I had a tan. I didn't mind, because even though I didn't look "tan" I always looked better and just shared my preferences with Audrey as I became more experienced and she accommodated. I am no longer a ST customer following an emergency cancellation I had on Memorial Day Weekend. I had a skin issue come up less than 24 hours before my appointment and prevented me from getting a tan (doctor's orders). Since I was a loyal customer who never cancelled (even when I cancelled a vacation that I scheduled a tan for to attend a funeral for a close relative because I could physically still get a tan) and was always EARLY to appointments, I thought Audrey would work with and allow a partial or full credit for a future tan because the cancellation was out of my control and I offered to provide a medical note. Nope. Similar to the lengthy explanation of the cancellation policy on the website, I received a few emails from Audrey telling me how small business cash flows and the "industry" work. She offered to have me come in the following day because someone else cancelled (for an additional reschedule fee). Of course, I still had a skin issue the following day because it was legitimate. There are two ways to lose money (1) first time no-show and the business eats the loss (2) rigid cancellation policy where the customer eats the lost cash flow due to unforeseen circumstances, stops coming 3x per year, writes Yelp review that may prevent new customers from purchasing service. Audrey, quick math, you may lose more when you enforce the no-show policy on the wrong type of customer. If you don't care about being charged $70 for services you will never receive due to unforeseen circumstances, this review is probably irrelevant. I get it - there is a policy and I received several notifications about it. But it bothered me so much that I was a loyal and professional customer and received absolutely nothing in exchange for $70. I would have offered the spot to a friend or come in for a tan on a random day when my skin was healed just so it wasn't a complete waste. read more

There is no option for zero star, and this is what this place deserves. Audrey is rude, she rushed me, the results weren't good, I called and she didn't even try to make it better or feel me less robbed. I basically had to come in and get charged entirely a 2nd time. Also, she charges upfront, and is very condescending in the sense that her time is so valuable and precious, and she makes you feel like she's doing you a favor because she has a gym class and you were 2 minutes late. I was greeted by Audrey, and she was so cool I was immediately comfortable with her. She explained all the Do's and Don't's about Spray Tanning being it was my first time. Moved to LA a year ago and just had my first winter without tanning -- and I was miserable. Until yesterday! Audrey sprayed my "lower half" and I'm wearing a short skirt for the first time in ages. I have had several spray tans by Audrey in the privacy of my own home over the past two years. It is the quickest way to look instantly 10 times better, without the need for makeup, and 10 pounds lighter! She sets up in your bathtub very quickly, sprays you perfectly and evenly in about 10 minutes, then quickly cleans up your bathroom. The spray does feel a little cool but it is so worth it ($75 plus tip) and lasts about a week. Audrey is very nice and professional, and you get loyalty points for each spray tan that can be used towards a free tan at the salon. My dog loves her too. One of the best decisions I made was to get a spray tan 2 days before my wedding because it makes your skin glow like you've just been on vacation, and it looks great in pictures... Before my experience with Audrey at Sweetheart, I'd only spray tanned once before where the results were decent but the whole day post-visit was super sticky and messy. So when I called Audrey up I expected it to be kind of the same thing - TOTALLY wrong, she's officially made me a true believer and repeat customer in just one quick visit. She was super accommodating in terms of schedule and made it to my place in Bed-Stuy just a few hours after setting up the appointment. Super cute girl who puts you right at ease - just 5 minutes after arriving she had her equipment out and had me step into the shower. It wasn't sticky at all, nor did it have a strong fake tan smell, which was definitely the case the first time around. I'd say that overall the whole thing didn't last more than 15 minutes. I had such an awsome expierence at the Williamsburg studio! Now I am no stranger to spray tans but usually in the past I would leave salons looking orange right after and I would have to wait a day or 2 before the brown really kicked in, But Not at Sweetheart tans ! When I tried Sweetheart for the first time I left the salon NOT ORANGE just very brown (which is exactly what I wanted ) I felt like the tan lasted a good week and a half and evenly got lighter as time progressed . Finally I did not have to deal with the random orange/brown spots or brown and white scaley looking legs as I have in the past . This was the first spray tan I've ever gotten, and I couldn't be more satisfied! I've used all types of self-tanner lotions and such, but the manual labor and inconsistent results of them began to exhaust me. I feared the stories I've heard of the machine-spray tans at salons and was appalled at how expensive salon tans are in NYC - so Audrey was superb. Plus I have very fair skin, but with Audrey, that was not a problem at all! Audrey is really great at making you feel comfortable. You can wear as little as you'd like - it's up to you. I was naked, but it was not the least bit awkward at all. She's very professional, friendly, and a great converser. I was very comfortable for how awkward a situation like that can potentially be. She's been doing it for years, so she's used to it, and makes you feel used to it too! It felt like I knew her for a while! The tan came out great. Since I am fair skin, I feared turning orange, but I wasn't at all. It was the most naturally tan I have ever looked. You can tell her how dark/light you want to be. I didn't know exactly how dark I wanted to be, so I kind of let her use her expertise to figure out a good shade, and it was perfect! It lasted a week too, probably would have lasted longer if I took better care of my skin (lotioning and such), but it looked great for longer than I expected. All in all it is probably the best spray-tan experience and results you can have. Such a great price too. Don't pay tons of money for the overrated salons in the city. Go to Audrey, or have Audrey come to you, and I promise you'll be more satisfied then you could imagine. read more
