Not only is Evan a skilled baker and decorator, she is a professional, and a super sweet person. I decided to go with Evan for the cake for my daughter's baby shower based on other reviews I'd seen. So very happy I did! I sent her a few pictures of the invitations and other decorations we were using for our "under the sea" themed shower for our soon-to -be-arriving granddaughter. She replicated them beautifully for the cake. It was adorable, and everyone raved about it. The picture doesn't do it justice, as there are many more cute sea creatures all around. I am generally not a fan of bakery cakes. They are often overly sweet and a bit dry. But this creation was not only lovely, it was delicious. We had two flavors, chocolate with coffee cream filling and vanilla with strawberries and cream filling. Both were excellent. Her fillings in particular are flavorful and generous. The fresh fruit was a nice touch. Evan is easy to work with, usually quick to respond to questions or issues, and I would happily contact her again the next time I need a special cake. read more

We didn't have a specific design in mind, but had some basic ideas that we were able to send over to Evan along with our color scheme. By the time we saw the cake the day of the wedding, it was exactly what we dreamed it would be - the bride is still amazed with how it was exactly what she dreamed it would be. Regarding flavors, Evan had some of the most unique (and best) cake flavors we tried of all the vendors we contacted. The only caveat with using Sweets By E is that it took us a while to schedule a call with Evan to talk through our needs because of us being in a different timezone and only being able to talk in the evening. I was looking for a simple cake for a small wedding of 20-25 - though it ended up being 19! She was more than willing to work with me (where many other bakeries said they wouldn't make a cake that small!) Evan was timely getting back to me by email, phone, or text. My fiance and I had a hard time deciding on what flavor we wanted as they were all amazing! We settled on chocolate cake with coffee filling, it was TO-DIE-FOR. She was even kind enough to make my mother her own cupcake with a different type of frosting because of a soy allergy! I initially contacted Sweets by E because she was close to my wedding venue, which was out in Bluemont, VA. I was hoping she made great cakes, but that was to be determined. I really wanted to find a baker who made moist cakes with delicious frosting and fillers that were not too sweet or too waxy. Evan (aka E) has a wide variety of cake flavors, fillings, and frosting types to choose from, ALL of them are DELICIOUS! I mean super super yummy. I was floored how good every single one of them was! It made it hard to choose my three flavors! I knew immediately that she was my gal. I wanted a wedding cake that would knock peoples socks off. Evan not only made me three different layers of perfectly moist, flavorful, sweet cakes but she also did an absolutely AMAZING job on the design of the cake: smooth ivory fondant with petals and pearls on each of the three layers, matching the petal color to my bridesmaid dresses almost exactly. I enjoyed working with Evan from the start. We exchanged a number of emails to answer all my questions about wedding cupcakes, flavors, delivery and pricing. She was always prompt in responding and explained everything thoroughly. I was sold on using Sweets By E after I went in for the tasting. I didn't really know what I wanted so Evan asked me lots of questions and helped me come up with what would work best. T here are a ton of flavors to choose from and all four that I tasted were delicious. What I liked most about the cupcakes is they are actually edible. So many places have these giant cupcakes with tons of frosting that are more for show than actually eating. The cupcakes at Sweets By E weren't small by any means but they weren't over sized, perfect for eating at a wedding while mingling and they looked great while on display.
