Sweet's has always been great every time I've been there. Food, service, and ambiance of the environment has always been great. I took my buddy there for the first time for lunch and he loved it. We ended getting the "OG" plate with some rainbow otai and the food was fresh off the grill. We will head back for our next training and try some more stuff on the menu for sure!! read more

Sweet's Island Restaurant is such a sweet place! It was super easy to find and it is really close to downtown. Sweet's Island Restaurant is ever so slightly out of the normal commute, but still in a convenient spot as far as I am concerned. They have a pretty clear and direct menu; it was super easy to read and figure out what you would like to eat. I also noticed that their pricing was very very fair and came with lots of stuff! The person that was taking our orders and dishing up the food had great communication about the food items. She offered more teriyaki sauce to go on the rice, she asked "Do you want ___ or ____?" instead of saying something like "What side do you want?" and having us confused about what the options are. She was also just super nice and friendly! When I started eating the food, I was EXTREMELY impressed. The food had wonderful flavors and it was so awesome to see all the things that came with just the one meal/combo. The teriyaki sauce was especially amazing. I also redeemed my check in offer and got to try some of their signature drink. It came with coconut and mango flavors. I thought it was super yummy on terms of flavor but I wasn't a big fan of the texture of the drink. It had very small chunks, almost like pulp in it but that is one thing I always love about the check in offers on Yelp! It gives you the chance to try something you may not have ordered otherwise! I loved the atmosphere as well, both inside and outside. They had music that reminded me of my trip to Hawaii and even a cute mural outside with my favorite Disney character--Stitch! This place serves up some of the tastiest hawaiian bbq/Poly food and best customer service in Utah! It sucks that it's all the way in Provo, but I am happy we were able to try this place out. They were super warm & friendly when we walked in and helped us feel comfortable. I had the 3 meater lunch plate with rice, mac salad, kalua pork, kalbi ribs & chicken katsu. Everything was very tasty...the Mac salad had a great consistency but there was something abt the aftertaste, could be the mayo but everything else was great. Also, the mango otai was a little sweet for my liking. I definitely thought it was worth the drive to try it out. Best thing about Sweet's is the choice of getting a small plate. Worst thing about Sweet's was the macaroni salad. Everything else was very good. We had the kalua pork, katsu chicken, and kalbi ribs. All three meats had very good flavor and I would recommend either of them. The kalbi ribs were sliced quite a bit thicker than I have ever seen before which made them a little difficult to eat. The rice and noodles were also good. The small servings are big enough for one person for a satisfying lunch. The regular plate is quite big so better for someone with a big appetite. We didn't try the pineapple because we like macaroni salad, but this macaroni salad had way too much mayo and no other flavors. For my taste, it needed more vinegar, onions, and salt. read more

Disappointed. I had high hopes for this place because I've heard so many good things about it. I ordered the poke bowl, kalbi & kalua pork plate, and mango otai. First of all the poke bowl and mango otai, and kalua pork were good. The tuna was fresh and marinated perfectly. The mango otai was creamy and smooth, tasted very similar to lassi. The kalua pork was very tender. No complaints so far. My disappointment comes from the kalbi, which weren't cooked all the way. All 3 strips were still bright red inside and impossible to chew since it was basically raw. Also one of the strips were burnt completely on one side, making it completely inedible. I decided to throw the whole thing out at this point... Other than that, the service was great and the rest of the food were amazing, so I'll definitely stop by again. Hopefully the kalbi is fully cooked next time. read more

The people at Sweet's are sooooo welcoming! Even if the food wasn't great, I would go back just for them! BUT, no worries because the food IS great! I ordered the Sweet's Plate Lunch (kalua pig & teriyaki chicken with mac salad) and two Otai drinks (a mango/coconut one and a watermelon/coconut one). First of all, the teriyaki chicken was some of the best I've had in Utah! I was so impressed, the sauce was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. The kalua pork looked a bit like soggy tuna fish salad, but looks aside, it was also very delicious. With the plate lunch, you get SO much food. I shared with someone and was STUFFED before we even finished the plate. Such a good value! Second, that mango/coconut otai was DELICIOUS. I had never had otai before but I loved it! It had slivers of coconut in it which I loved because of the texture it gave the drink. This place may be my new go-to Hawaiian restaurant! You've gotta try it out! read more

We came on a Tuesday around lunch time and were immediately greeted by a friendly lady behind the counter. She was very helpful in explaining the options and giving recommendations. I ended up choosing the Sweet's combo (kalua pig and teriyaki chicken) and then got a split of rice and noodles and the mac salad. The food was incredible! I'm a sucker for sticky rice and Sweet's was no exception. It pairs perfectly with the meats and I also loved the noodles. I'll take into consideration that i got the very last portion of the day and maybe the sweet part of the sauce was sitting at the bottom of the tray but I just did not like the flavor at all. The restaurant is family owned and operated and has the best customer service in the state of Utah. The food is a mixture of local Hawaiian and Polynesian cuisine that I give a 10/10! Their specials of the day are a magnificent modern take on local favorites. The chef, who is also a music artist, and his crew, put a lot of time, effort, and love into the food they produce. When there's some down time, he'll pop his head out and say hi to see how your day is going and to make sure everything is tasting the way it's supposed to.
