The way people talk about this place I thought it was going to be a mind blowing experience, it wasn't. Pretty mediocre food. The Galley Boy was quite small. The flavors weren't terrible but it also wasn't great. The tater tots were pretty bland. The cold brew whipped was pretty good but for a burger joint the burger definitely missed the mark. read more

I learned about swenson's from George Motz on YouTube and since we were already coming to Ohio on vacation I added it to the list of places to visit. What a great bit of history to experience. I enjoyed the Galley boy burger. It is smaller than I anticipated but had a great flavor combo, and everything worked well together. It's actually the perfect size so I didn't feel like I overate. I also tried the potato teezers, which were okay. Regular fries are better. The teezers need more jalapeño spice imo. I also had a strawberry shake which was good. All in all. One of the bucket list locations we were alerted to seeing when arriving in central Ohio. It's a drive-in, like the old a&w from years ago. I'm not even sure you can walk inside. Let's start with: The highlight of today's visit was meeting Ella (hope I got that right). Hard working, smiling, spot-on efficient, Ella. She's a cutie. More importantly, talented. She'll guide you through the process, quickly but clearly. She then takes the time to educate you for future visits in a comforting manner that screams of "Come back and see us!" The menu is limited and has a couple of surprises. We just tried the staple 'Galley Boy', which is a double cheeseburger with two special sauces. I ordered fries and the thin mint shake. Mrs E went for the rings and an iced tea. The food was tasty enough. Nothing earth shattering. I built it up bigger that it is. Shame on me. I know better. I absolutely love the metal tray hanging on the driver's side window. What a fun throwback to the original old time drive-ins. After pandemic, most went to paper bags and stayed that way. Sad. What happened to Swenson? I used to have them in Akron and tasted difference when it came to Columbus; however, it is not good. Well, I will say the onion rings were delicious. But the burger was gross! I'm not a sauce person so I just got cheeseburger with mustard. WHY WAS IT SOOOO SWEET?!! I don't want a candied burger!! What made that thing so sweet? I'd passed by this place a few times, so I figured I'd check them out. The wait seemed to be a bit much for my taste (no pun intended) and I'm not entirely sure that they didn't serve someone before me who didn't arrive before me. I could be wrong and it's not worth being angry about. The burger was good, as was the fries, but I felt it was a bit pricey for the end-result and as I said, the wait was longer than I'd anticipated. Still, the staff was quite friendly and the food was hot and fresh, so I'd definitely suggest that you check it out. I'm sure that my next visit will be better. read more

11/29/25 1 PM: Very disappointing meal. Incomplete order, so had to drive back to pick up what was charged but not included the first time. No attempt was made to compensate. Food was terrible, far below expectations from previous visits. Sloppy Joes were barely a spoonful on a cheap small bun which wasn't even covered. Burger was cold in the center and came with only an abundance of mustard and two pickles. That's it. No cheese, no tomato. An uncooked patty with too much mustard and a couple of pickles. I threw that away. The fries would have been ok if they were fresh. In the end I spent $40 for three people, and it was not nearly worth that even overlooking the poor quality and two drives. A fake old timey veneer doesn't cover up the corporate shenanigans, poor management, and lousy quality of this place. A good manager would never let an incomplete order with undercooked food leave the building. NEVER AGAIN read more

This was my first time eating here. I loved the nostalgia of having a car hop! I order the classic Swenson burger. It was really tasty but didn't come with any topping except the sauce so that was a little disappointing. The fries were crispy & hot. I really enjoyed them. The pinnacle of the meal had to be the Skyhawks. I ordered the seasonal pumpkin and it did not disappoint! All In All better quality than most fast food and fun too! read more

Landen and Carter were absolutely fantastic. They were hysterical and plenty of fun. They were plenty helpful and our food was really pickly and delicious. The food was also fresh and would definitely come back just to see them and also the great food..... and pickles. Pickles are great. Especially theirs. It's amazeballs. The mountains of pickles and meat were so delicious, that Steak N' Shake will never, ever, and absolutely, indubitably cannot fathom to compete. Wow...what a delish and juicy burger. It was so juicy that it took three napkins!!! They asked me how I wanted it cooked (medium or well done) and it was cooked perfect - just a little pink. I appreciate that they only offered two ways. This was my first trip and it was well worth the 20 minute drive from Canal Winchester. My daughter had been to the original Swensons in Akron and raved about it. We also got the potatoes with jalapeños. They were yummy too. And we just had to have a shake!!!! What I loved the most was watching Tireeke (sorry if I misspelled your name). The young man ran everywhere and had the sweetest smile!!! So....if you want a great lunch, a great price and great entertainment, head to Swensons for a good old fashion - eat in your car experience. I know I'll be back the next time someone says...I'm hungry for a burger. read more

Been ordering sloppy Joe's from them for the year and a half that They've been in business here in Reynoldsburg and now when I order two sloppy Joe's, they put the same amount of meat that they used for one on both. It's pretty pathetic. You pay almost 4 dollars for a sandwich barely get no meat on it. Swenson is amazing a Akron native so kinda bias because I have been eating here for years. I went yesterday one because it's right in front of my house I could hear the music through the grand opening. It was busy but it was good. Opening Day and we were excited. A fresh face in the Burger scene for the Burg. Having eaten Swenson's for years I kinda knew it would be Great and it was ! Place was Hopping, Track Stars taking orders and delivering it Hot, Music in the Air. Root Beer in my hair..It was all good. It truly was a fun night with gift's Cheers, Music and smiling faces. Swensons is really proud of their bland food. Went to the Main Street, Reynoldsburg Ohio location and was unimpressed. Got a double cheese burger, small shake and fries. Had to throw away the brown lettuce on the burger, that cost an extra $.60 for 'deluxe' toppings. Fries were not fresh potatoes, obviously previously frozen. The shale was the tiniest tiny shake I've ever seen, and it was not handmade. For the price ($9.45) I felt cheated. At Steak and Shake you can expect a 'wow!' burger and at Sonic you get fresh meat burger with great, fresh toppings (that do not cost extra, unless you get jalapenos). And on top of that - the servers expect to be tipped, my server trolled me for a tip. I don't know how much the servers get paid, and they were pretty quick and efficient. The servers were the highlight of my visit, sadly. I figured, what the hell, I got $8 back from a $20. So my total for the bland meal was $12!!! BTW, I noticed the reviewers giving five stars mention nostalgia. Good for them, but with so many better choices in Reynoldsburg Ohio I expect the Swensons here is NOT going to last long. read more

Arrived at 1:05 on a Sunday - about 15 cars in the parking lot - many of them empty (obviously employees) - waited several minutes with lights on (as required) just to have an employee stick her head out the door, shake in hand, and stare at us for several minutes before disappearing - she then reappeared to walk at a snails pace to our vehicle - you could tell that she was very inconvenienced that we were patronizing this establishment in order yo pay her salary - silly us. After the surly reception - she walked back even slower (if that's possible). The wait was not terribly long - about 20 minutes - and thankfully another employee brought us our food. The food was hot and correct (which shouldn't be a measure for success - but it is for fast food establishments) Overall a mediocre experience. Won't make it a point to go back - it just happened to be on he same side of the road. This place has certainly gone down hill since it opened......those employees were "on the bounce" and looked happy to be there...... Oh well. read more

Been enjoying Swenson's for 20+ years... the Reynoldsburg location is the bottom of the barrel. Waited 35 minutes for the worst Galley Boys we've ever had. Burger was cooked to a rubber like consistency, barely any sauce...bun was hard. Potato Teezers were forgotten, then came out over cooked. Fried zucchini was under done. Shakes were fine. Won't be back here. I'll drive to Akron next time! read more
