One of many Yecky Soap Dispensers!
    Mariaelena G.

This was the worst laundromat experience ever! I happened to be in the area while a friend underwent an emergency procedure, nearby and decided to do her laundry as I waited. I hesitated once I realized how filthy, moldly and clogged the soap dispensers on one, after another machine were but finally found two that were the least disgusting and paid my $8.00 to start 2 loads, despite my trepidation. As the clothes were noisily spinning, a woman approached and and apologized for the squeaking and shaking. I responded that it was not an issue but that the moldy soap dispensers were something she should attend to instead. She became outraged, pacing and carrying on about how she had videos of the machines being cleaned and how her husband was disabled and what more could she do, etc. and that I should just leave, instead of trying to ruin her life. I was very much taken aback by her aggressiveness and both tried to show her that while I had washed my loads anyway, every other machine on my end was badly in need of attention. She refused to even look and that lack of regard prompted me to photograph the dispensers to show her across the room as she ranted at me. Realizing that neither was she the least bit concerned at how gross her machines were and after seeing her escalate, would ever have to see me again, I attempted to wait elsewhere, as my clothes dried. 20 minutes later, Not one but two Greendfield Police Officers, were called. When I saw them I asked, point blank "Did this woman really call you because I told her that her machines were clogged, moldy and needed attention?" And they answered "Yes and she wants you to take your clothes and leave." I did exactly that and drove away in disbelief. As a result of my attempt to bring the condition of her washers to her attention, in a passing matter of fact way, She escalated to aggression and along with her friend in a camo jacket, ranted about how hard it was to run a business! I very, very rarely post a negative review as I am very easy going and generally, a grateful person but this unique experience has caused me to want to warn people to take caution when laundering their clothes in an establishment that so devalues cleanliness or their customer's experience. There are far safer and more trustworthy laundromats, very nearby. I hope I can post photos here or elsewhere as no one would want that heck run through their clothes. I rewashed everything!

Laundry Party - 2 formerly identical shirts. The one on the right was washed by Laundry party and ruined. They had washed both shirts many times before.

Overall, recommended. Thoughts:…read more BAGS, NOT WEIGHT: Unlike other services I've used in the past, who "weigh" your clothes, LP charges a flat fee per bag - so whatever you can stuff in their large bags is $20 per bag. I like this system a lot, as I don't have to worry about certain items being more expensive and I know what I'm going to be paying without waiting for someone to come and weigh everything. My husband and I have done some testing and found that the bags come out to a little under twice as much cost as doing the laundry ourselves at the laundromat. It depends, though, if that time is worth it to you. It is to us. ONLINE ORDERING: They have a nice online ordering system. You can specify days/times and locations for pick-up/drop-off. On that first menu, they also have additional services for around $4-$6 fees such as stain removal, special delicate wash, same-day service and other things I've apparently never used because I can't think of them. SERVICE: Service has been prompt. Clothes has been delivered well-folded, although packed in a plastic bag rather than a paper bag (so things do get wrinkled) and nothing lost as of yet. I order the unattended drop-off/pick-up and I like that I get email notifications when that has happened. If it is a day I'm off work, I actually do head home to bring in the laundry (tip for management if you are reading this - putting undergarments somewhere hidden would be appreciated; the bags are clear!) UPDATES: *March 2016: So far great service. Highly recommended. *July 2016: I've had two white items come back recently with stains. A few days later: Good response from Laundry Party (Ben) via email that attests to how much they do seem to care about customers. For me, I haven't been able to reach them via phone, but email was prompt (between one minute to one day except on the weekends, I think) *August 2016: I'm graduating to more delicate items that I care about; so far, so good.

Suzee's Third St. Laundry - Bizarrely enough, they really do have an annual fashion show out of here.

Huh. I patronized the place for about a year until getting a washer/dryer, and I didn't much mind it; it was in close walking distance to my apartment. The pros: It has a couple comfortable couches, a TV, a soda machine, coin dispensers, the usual. If you lose money in a machine you can get a refund (but see below). The owner is provably laid back (see below for that as well). With it right in the downtown, it's perfectly possible to grab a bite while your stuff is washing. There's a free municipal lot right next door and reasonably ample on-street parking. It's got free WiFi. The hours definitely do not suck, and given my sleep problems being able to pop in at 6 AM to do laundry was a good thing. The cons: This is a low income area, and a number of the patrons are "colorful." Children being brought here to run around, scream and go crazy in lieu of babysitting is a common occurrence, especially in the evenings. Homeless folk, secure in the knowledge they're unlikely to be rousted, sometimes hang out where there's a free TV to watch and a warm couch to sit on in winter, and I read in the local weekly's police log about one such whom the owner purportedly allowed to sleep on one of those couches for a week. On the Laundromat Scale of Dinginess, I'd rate Suzee's a C-. (Mind you, that's on a laundromat scale.) On any given day, nearly half the machines are out of order, and if you lose your money in the next one to GO out of order, you can fill out a card, sure, but it took me three months to get that money back the last time I did.

Checked it out once, more than 1/2 the machines do not work. Very mildewy too. Not worth it!read more
