I had a disappointing experience with this repair center. Initially, they offered a reasonably attractive quote for MacBook repair, which included a non-refundable portion and a promise of a final quote after diagnosis. They claimed to be MacBook specialists, but it became clear they are more of a general phone and computer repair shop without a professional setup for Apple MacBooks. Despite our agreement, they did not provide a clear diagnosis or repair quote--only a data recovery estimate that was 25-40% higher than quotes I received from certified Apple partners in San Diego. I ultimately had my MacBook repaired by a professional who specializes in Apple hardware. Unfortunately, I lost both time and the non-refundable amount. Their communication felt more like a tactic to lure in customers rather than a genuine effort to help. If you need MacBook repairs, I strongly recommend going to a specialist who works exclusively with Apple devices and has access to Apple tools, chip serial number reprogramming and reconfiguration capabilities. This shop appeared to rely on board replacements and part swaps, which were priced higher than buying a new laptop. This will be my last Yelp review of 2023. I will not be writing anymore Yelp reviews until next year. For me and my family's Christmas gifts, I purchased new iPhones. In order for all of us to get the full dollar amount for trading in our old iPhones, our old phones needed to work and they couldn't have major cracks or damages. 3 of the 4 phones met this criteria, but my son's phone was all jacked up. This was the result of my son not utilizing the phone cover we purchased for him. Due to my son's negligence, he was going to have to pay to repair the large crack on the back of his phone. Swift Repairs repaired my son's phone for a reasonable price, in an expeditious manner, and they provided quality customer service. Swift Repairs is located in North County San Diego area, specifically in the Carmel Mountain San Diego confines. To get to the cellphone repair shop, take the 15 freeway, exit off of Carmel Mountain Road, head west, and make a left on Penasquitos Drive. It's located within the outdoor shopping center that also contains 24 Hour Fitness, Jack in the Box, and Evans Tire. Swift Repairs is close to a 7-11, next to a dentist, and next to a spa. As you enter the store, it's clean, there's distressed laminate flooring on the ground, and they sell cellphone accessories. Before deciding to bring my son's cellphone to Swift Repairs, I called around to several cellphone repair shops in the surrounding areas. Swift Repairs provided the most reasonable estimate to repair the large crack on my son's phone. It cost us just under $130. When I called the shop, I really appreciated the friendliness of the employee on the phone call and his customer service. When I actually dropped off the phone, the person I spoke to was as friendly in person. I dropped off the phone on a Saturday and it was ready on the next day. Loved the expediency and their handiwork in repairing the phone. If you have a cellphone that needs to be repaired, I highly recommend you bring the phone to Swift Repairs. I went to plug my in on Thanksgiving morning so I could talk with my kids to charge, and the plug key getting pushed out and I could not charge the phone. Talk about crazy! I was working on my computer one night and the screen, mouse and everything started going crazy. I thought I had either been hacked or aliens had taken over my computer. I had cracked the glass all the way across the screen. I needed my computer back quickly so I called a few places and settled on Swift Repair. I took my computer in and they told me it would cost more than my computer was worth to order and fix it. Don't you just love honesty? Came in with a cracked screen and some LCD damage on my iPhone 11 and was told that it would only be about 25 minutes. In a bit of a boring area so I was forced to step inside of Floor and Decor to kill my 25 minutes. Came back and it ended up being about 30 minutes due to other customers coming in, but wasn't an issue at all. I already knew the issue, but they assured me the $30 would be a part of the cost repair cost so I didn't mind. A week later my laptop was returned to me with a fresh battery. Thanks for the help! TL;DR: zero communication as it took 10 days to replace a MacBook battery. As much as I hesitated posting this and want to support small businesses, they have cost me some of mine and I am appalled at how I was treated. This is my personal experience and I still believe that this is a probably reliable business for phone-related repairs. Context: I do wedding photography. My laptop was draining battery too quickly so I reached out through Yelp to ask for a quote and time estimate. Was told $169 for a battery change within 1-2 days. Stopped by late afternoon Thursday 9/1/22 before Labor Day and they told me that it was normal that a MacBook Pro 2019 drained in a matter of a couple hours because I used Lightroom on it. While we chat, the open laptop (with no app running) drops 3% in battery...After insisting that I believe there is an actual issue, they said they would test the battery and call me by Saturday to let me know if it needs changing. If it did, they would have to order it as they just used their last one; would be 1-2 days. Perfect timing as I'm out of town until 9/5/22 (the whole point of dropping off my laptop then!!!) Fast forward Tuesday 9/6/22, no call. I assume it could be because of the extended weekend and reach out, they tell me they're still testing the battery, that it will be another 1-2 days and they would call me when ready. Fast forward to Thursday 9/8/22, no call. I pick up the phone and am told they are still waiting on the battery and it would get there by Friday so my laptop would be ready by Saturday morning. I had to ask multiple times whether they had even confirmed that the battery was defective. They kept saying that they needed the new battery to test. I'm a bit surprised that a phone/laptop repair business does not have a ballpark idea of how long a MacBook battery should last...Also, why not order the batter the week before then? But okay. Fast forward to Saturday afternoon 9/10/22, no call. At this point it has been over a week and I'm behind on editing pictures for my clients. I call and am told the person who changes battery doesn't work on weekend. Extremely annoyed, I explain the situation and my disappointment and the battery is miraculously ready Sunday 9/11/22 with a final cost of $179 (VS $169 quoted), not even a discount for the trouble. My laptop battery is better but it started periodically freezing and although there's a 3 months warranty, I unfortunately cannot afford to be without it for another week and having to jump through hoops to be updated. This shop is excellent! Had a busted front glass and the iPhone 11 became inoperative, and found this shop on Yelp (among 5 other ones). Got a quote quickly, fair/best price and good location (near my house/Costco/Home Depot), and those were the reasons for my business. Dropped phone off, got a promise "done in 30 min". Went to HD to get a new items, came back and it was done within the time promised. The phone looks new and functions as new. They loaded up some generic Apple apps to make sure everything is working properly. The good tech also installed a screen protector with no charge.
