ZoomCare fortunately takes my insurance (Providence), so I made an appointment for the next day. I teach communication skills to health care providers so am usually not too impressed when I have to interact with the health care system myself - but I had a great experience at ZoomCare! I was shown into an exam room as soon as I walked in, and I saw Erin, a nurse practitioner; she was empathic, warm, and collaborative. She shared her thoughts and recommendations regarding my options and asked what I wanted to do. We decided on a chest x-ray; she immediately printed out a referral form and they sent me over to Salem Radiology after a minute-long check-out process. When I got home, I was able to log on to ZoomCare to see my visit summary and notes, and there was an option to email the provider if I had any follow-up questions. So glad this place exists - hope I don't need to go again anytime soon, but it's good to know that it's there if needed. 3/20/23 update: I was back with another issue and saw a different practitioner, Joe; had yet another excellent experience (well, as excellent as a visit to urgent care can be). I didn't have child care so brought my toddler along with me, and they were 100% cool with that. I needed a prescription and was dreading rushing to a pharmacy with my daughter and trying to rush back home for work, but they had what I needed on hand, so no extra trip needed! (Note that it's not a fully-stocked pharmacy - the last time I was there they didn't have the OTC and prescription stuff I needed, but fortunately they did this time.)

They recently moved away from the more universal Mychart and implemented their own version. What a nightmare that has been. They lost records and I can't even work with them. I decided to start using a private lab because they offer substantialy more tests for significantly less money. Why should I be forced to use their lab? I assume they didn't like this because they absolutely refuse to load the results into their version of Mychart, despite me calling many times and providing them the results twice. I mailed them and delivered in person because they refused to accept them electronically or download them from the lab. Last visit they told me at least three times they are a business and eventually refused to see me as a patient. Keep in mind I owe them nothing so it is not a billing or payment issue. Go anywhere else if you can. They are horrible.

I was in a complete autistic shutdown/burnout and they had not a clue. As I mentioned, I didn't die -- but my doctor (the one with the great hair) commanded me to walk -- and not being able to walk was my primary symptom. So, I walked about 10 feet and nearly fell but stumbled back to my bed. They need to do better though, even though -- yes I am alive.

Just walked in, no call ahead, and they had me in an examination room within 30 minutes with an able and courteous nurse. One D.O. was on duty and had to bounce around between patients, putting out brush fires--I get that. Dr. Brown has a jokey bedside manner, which I dislike intensely, but I was civil. He seemed capable when he focussed. Dr. Vallejo (sp?--he seemed of oriental extraction) examined me the next day for possible neurological damage and had an efficient and dignified bedside manner. When you don't laugh at Dr. Brown's silly jokes, he seems to acquire an animus. He had his nurse remove the stitches and said over his shoulder that if any were left in place, "they'd just fall out." In fact, I did have to remove some missed stitches when I got home. I have been told by other professionals that forgotten stitches, once wetted, can become deep infection courts. Cost was only a little over $265 for three visits, which I consider good value. However when I checked out for good, I told the receptionist that I would settle all charges right then. She told me I was paid up with them--but I got a $65 bill in the mail some days later. Probably just a failure to explain their SOP, but leaves a bad taste.

After I sat down, he took my pulse and asked a few questions to clarify my responses on the intake form. And inquired any areas of concern I had, I said 'hormonal acne, left side of my neck is tight and right erector muscle' Then he left the room, I undressed to my level of comfort (I'm a massage therapist, so I'm super comfortable in this setting), placed my jewelry in the bowl provided and got on the massage table, under the flat sheet. During the treatment I was gently mesmerized by the music and felt a release in my left levator scapulae ( back neck muscle) as he needled it. He addressed my other concerns too and responded with a thorough answer when I asked what a certain point was for, or when I asked for the music to be a bit quieter he happily obliged. By the end I was drifting in parasympathetic mode aka 'rest and digest'. Very calm and peaceful place for your nervous system to switch into to heal and realign itself.
