Myself and a group of about 11 others visited Swift's attic for happy hour/dinner. The hostess was very kind in letting us sit at the bar until a big table was ready for us to be seated. Service was pretty poor for such a "high end" restaurant. We'd order a drink and go to order something else and our waiter had already walked away. There were also several people with dietary restrictions and we were told that the kitchen wouldn't make any small modifications to the menu. Many of us ended up eating Brussels sprouts for dinner. After we paid, which was a $400 bill, folks were still finishing up drinks and we were told we had to leave because they had a reservation for the table.... Unlikely on a Wednesday without 12 others waiting at the door, nor appropriate to ask paying customers to leave. The food we had was good, but pricey and really poor customer service. My friend and I were searching for a place to go on Saturday night (our one night in Austin!) Within walking distance, and Swift's popped up on yelp so we thought we'd give it a try.... Arrived at 6:15pm? Went upstairs from Congress and asked if we could get a table (no reservations) or sit at bar. The hosts told us we could have a table but needed to finish by 8 or the bar was open, so we were happy to sit at the table! Our server was really good, super friendly. Service in general was super great, my friend is pregnant and likes ice water, so they happily fetched ice for her. I ordered a new fashioned eventually, too. Which was good, maybe not my fave but it was my preference not any fault of theirs. We had a beet salad and some sort of bruschetta with mozzarella to start.it was delicious!!! I think I finished like, all of it. Ha. Then for mains we had the seared scallops and the Korean BBQ flank steak. It was perfect for us, we each had a snack at easy tiger earlier. I would've liked to try a number of the veggies and shishito peppers and some of the other entrees. But the food we got was perfect. It was our anniversary and we happen to be in Austin, Texas. We typically stay in the downtown area in order to be in close proximity to our a Longhorn. What a delight! Not that we don't love Texas barbecue. But we were ready for a change. The plates come out in smaller portions which is fabulous for sharing. We got some appetizers and dinner A few specialty cocktails he had it hit the spot. It was busy of course on a Saturday night but the wait staff was super friendly got us in and out in a timely manner. Probably one of the best service teams I've seen recently. The pork cheeks and shrimp boil were tasty and shareable. We ordered the Brussel sprouts, and quickly discovered I had zero interest in sharing those with my dear husband. Ha ha. He ordered the warm beet salad. It was a delightful meal in a delightful setting. Don't let downtown frighten you off on a Saturday night. It was worth the trip. We mistakingly came here thinking we'd be getting "order-your-own" entrees (the price definitely fooled us), as instead everything was a very small portion. If I pay $22 for scallops, I better be getting more than 2 scallops.... not the case here. Got a veryyy strong drink that tasted like straight gin- the flavored ice ball in the center finally melted in time to wash down the last bite of my *2 scallops*. Been a fan of this place for years and glad to see they are still thriving given the fire and COVID. Came here for a weekday happy hour recently and was seated in a prime spot by the window. The food here is all about fusion so highly recommend you look at the menu first if your a bit u sure what your getting yourself into. For starters I got this Chinese shrimp fried rice play on dish which was packed with flavor. The rice was more like spicy kimchi infused grits served with a perfectly Pablo fried egg. I washed this down with a refreshing sparkling rose vodka spritzer. For entrees I went with the how we roll with is basically a warm sushi roll served with sirloin instead of seafood. This will satisfy any of meat eaters or sushi naysayers out there. Lastly cannot forget about the stellar service as Paula our waitress was on point all night and made our experience that much better and can't wait to come back for brunch in a few months. read more

Swift's Attic is one of those places in downtown Austin that is a hole in the wall that is not to be missed during your visit. Here are some suggestions that you might like that I tried: Corn Fritters with rum raisin butter was delicious. For tapas servings, it was huge. It batter also was nice and crunchy. Korean BBQ Flank Steak with crispy kimchi jumeok bap cake, grilled scallion, sweet galbi sauce.... man... this was really good. This is probably one of their best signature dishes. The meat was very tender. My favorite of all, their Striped Bass with fingerling potatoes, zucchini, HausBar Farms florets, verjus butter was unbelievably soooooo goooood! I highly recommend. So flavorful. And I save the best for last... for desserts order their Purple Rain horchata Bavarian, sarsaparilla, toasted flour, cinnamon, ube-rice ice cream. Whooooweeee, man this was just fantastic. Now it's a little sweeter than some may like so if you don't like sweet desserts, this may not work for you but I think it's so worth ordering and trying. Heard about Swift's attic from a local bartender that recommended this place highly. I thought I would check out their menu and was sold by the unique culinary offerings. My guy and I made a reservation for my Birthday Brunch at Swift's, I really wanted the $2 large Mimosas and to make my own bloody mary. We made an early reservation, arrived and were seated right away. I ordered the "Pho"-ride Chicken & Dumplings with chile pho broth, poached Vital Farms egg and celery vin. This was the most amazing broth and unique breakfast fare I've had for brunch. The broth was fantastic. My guy ordered the Swift's Benny with poached farm eggs, taylor ham, pommes anna, sriracha hollandaise and a side salad. We both really enjoyed our meal. The waitress surprised me with a birthday dessert which was called popcorn and a movie. A beautiful little plate of popcorn and chocolate. Made my birthday morning, starting me off to a great day. Our server recommended sharing the meals since its small plates. We decided to each order our own dishes though because we weren't told hungry. The portions were definitely smaller than we expected but doesn't seem large enough for sharing for a group of 8. Food 4/5 We ordered pad thai (kohlrabi noodle, "soyrizo", peanut sauce, carrots, oyster mushroom, pea shoots) and added steak for $9. We didn't read the description very well when ordering because we were expecting noodles but kohlrabi is actually a German turnip. The sauce definitely tasted more like Dan Dan noodle sauce than pad thai sauce. I am not a fan of peanut sauce so I probably wouldn't order this again. The steak was delicious though. If you order this dish, I would highly recommend paying the extra $9 for steak. 3/5 without steak 4/5 with steak The Seoul food (grilled Gulf shrimp, Korean BBQ butter, kimchi grits, bacon, fried soft boiled egg, radish, cilantro) was tasty and unique. We went for the soft opening and loved this place. It's right above the Elephant Room on Congress, and it's what Austinites might remember as the Kyoto sushi restaurant. One might describe the restaurant environs as steam punk (think: Jules Verne, 2,000 leagues under the sea) meets lounge. It's very hip and fun and lively and really transports you. I felt as if I were somewhere in NYC. The tables are small and close together and I think the intimate restaurant is perfect for a romantic meal followed by a visit to a jazz show downstairs. Our party of 6 fit into the large booth in the corner and we had the spiced beer nuts, french fries, and blistered shishitos with Garrotxa cheese. The person with the spiciest shishito pepper won a shot of something something (shot of whiskey in pickle juice?). I think it was an opening night thing, so don't expect that, but do expect every sauce--including mayo, ketchup, squid ink, wing sauce, etc.-- be handmade, original and delicious. For the second course, we had the pork belly foie gras bahn mini mihs, which are a great combination. The foie gras melts in your mouth, along with the crispy bread, cilantro, pork belly, and jalepenos. Everyone loved the caesar salad. Note that the fish is served with its head on, eyeballs and everything! Zut alors! Again, very exciting, and one the most popular dishes of the evening, along with the scallops that are served on a cucumber sorbet with a spicy sauce on the side. We also tried the venison kebab, which is served with a purple squid ink sauce. The duck wings had a great tangy-sweet dipping sauce. The braised oxtail and blue cheese flatbread was really tender and yummy. My favorite thing of all had to be the squid fries. For dessert, we became gluttonous little fatties, as if we weren't already, and tried the Popcorn and a Movie, which was a salty sweet crowd pleaser. The Lemon Panna Cotta was excellent, and was a contender for my favorite panna cotta in town, which used to be located at Vespaio Enoteca. And then came the craziest thing of all: the Peanut Butter and Jelly dessert. There were cute little waffle things, fresh fruit jam, and the amazing foie gras "peanut butter." I will upload a picture of this sweet treat that I can't stop talking about, as well as some other fun pics. All in all, it was an exciting night for the foodies. The service merited five stars, just like everything else. Mostly, I was happy to finally see something more culinarily adventurous come to town. I remember when, in 2001, Wink first opened and how revolutionary it seemed at the time: wine pairing, food that was fresh from the garden, menus that changed daily. Honestly, I have to say that I wasn't as impressed with this place as others seem to be. The presentation was almost trying too hard to be unique, and the flavors didn't quite mix the way they should have in my opinion. I had the goat gnocchi, and was left underwhelmed at what should have been a super flavorful dish. For a drink I had the New Fashioned, which is a new take on the old fashioned, and it was good, but super pricey. I will say it has good ambiance going for it! Appropriately located up a long flight of stairs, making it seem like you are ascending into an attic, this hip spot served up some very underwhelming and very disappointing food. After reading nothing but good things on several food sites and getting wooed by items containing two of my favorite foods, peanut butter and popcorn, I put this at the top of my list of places to try. Sadly, it was one of the few real letdowns of the marathon eating trip, as most of the stuff we ordered was pretty forgettable: - Sourdough Toast ($6) One of the specials, this sounded a lot better than it looked and tasted. Writing this a few weeks later, I can barely remember what was served alongside the cold, hard toast, which is telling. - Crumpets & Rabbit special ($12) We happened to be brunching here on Easter Sunday, and we fell for this rabbit special like suckers. This was nothing but a run-of-the-mill take on Eggs Benedict, with the potentially good rabbit and crumpets drenched in the bright yellow and unappetizing hollandaise sauce. - "Pragel & Trox" ($15) This one sounded pretty exciting, but wasn't tasty enough to justify the mess of trying to eat it: smoked trout, creme fraiche and a poached egg on a pretzel bagel. The bagel was not chewy in a good bagel way, but more in a stale kind of way. The whole thing was overloaded too, which made it near impossible to pick up and eat. - Peanut Butter Pancakes ($6) If something has peanut butter in it and I don't like it, then it's a major problem. The problem here though was that I could barely even detect any hint of peanut butter taste in these. They just tasted like regular old straight up pancake batter. Luckily these were just a side, so I didn't mind taking just a bite and discarding the rest. - Commander Crunch ($8) Things got much better with dessert. This chocolatey dessert consisted of dark chocolate mousse, chocolate "soil", chocolate tuile, Cap'n Crunch ice cream and blueberry bubbles. The best bites consisted of that crunchy, rich soil along with the creamy ice cream. - Popcorn & A Movie ($8) One of the major reasons I wanted to come here, this was another tasty dessert. This was a small dessert laid out on a relatively gigantic plate, with kernels of caramel corn decorating everything. At the center was a housemade candy bar topped with a scoop of butter popcorn gelato. The candy bar wasn't too memorable, but that gelato was insane - it really tasted like buttery popcorn. This is a great end to the meal for popcorn lovers. I love sweets, but these weren't good enough to salvage the rest of the meal. Perhaps it's best to come here for dessert after a meal elsewhere. read more

This was my first meal in Austin and I picked it for it's southern asian fusion. The decor is dark and artistically decorated. I ordered an iced tea and was surprised to find it unsweetened as we are in the south. The bartender gave me simple syrup which helped but not the southern sweet tea I'm used to. I ordered the bahn mi sandwich and I enjoyed the fries more than the sandwich. The sandwich wasn't bad but it didn't feel Vietnamese to me and it was a bit sour for my taste. But they also had a new entree with steak on top of a fried risotto ball that was delicious. I could have done without the quail. It was a little too fatty. The salads were great. The grilled pears with creme fraiche were to die for! Not too sweet for an appetizer or a nice light dessert. We also had the tomato salad that was refreshing and I would definitely get again. The atmosphere is great with bar height tables and an open room. Get ready to share plates. It's not a place you order your own entree. Came here on a swanky date and it is definitely a great spot for that sort of thing! First time here, but I had been wanting to check it out for ages! I made a res on their website and even though we were almost 30mins late due to the parking nightmare that is downtown Austin on a Sat night, they still sat us immediately! My date and I had almost every cocktail on the menu (so I can't recall each one), but the Ice Ball Oldie was great and as the ice ball melts releasing more and more of the flavor, you can order additional shots of the Woodford Reserve Rye to keep your cocktail going. We also had the Prince Edward's Ass (which was very refreshing) and the Blackberry Bonded which was just fantastic all around! I also ordered their only armagnac (because it is a rarity to find one, let alone a decent one) to pair with one of their desserts (which I will get to later) and it was divine! For the food portion, my gracious date and I started with an order of corn fritters (omg, that rum raisin butter though!?!) and pop rocks edamame. I had been looking forward to trying the edamame since I'd heard about it because, c'mon, Poprocks!! I am sad to say, while tasty, it was underwhelming as the sea salt poprocks are served on the side instead of already sprinkled on the edamame, which I think would have been better served. I ordered the goat shoulder and my date the Korean flank steak and shared our plates. I was enamored w/the flavor and savoriness of the meat and smoked-fig tomato ragout. I was not so smitten w/the Korean flank steak. My date loved it, but I can't exactly put my finger on why I did not really care for it. It didn't under or over, it just kinda "whelmed" me... We then got the desserts! We got two and shared, once again. We had the Commander Crunch (which paired surprisingly and exquisitely well w/the armagnac) and one of the seasonal desserts that I cannot recall the name of because I was close to 6 cocktails in at that point (I had my cocktails and then the remaining half of my date's because it turned out he was a lightweight whose eyes were bigger than his liver) and already close to a food coma. Whatever it was, it was also delectable! I have to say, food and drinks aside, the standouts for the night were the service and the decor! Seriously top notch service! Our waitress, who was abfab was able to make thoughtful and informed menu suggestions for both the cocktail and food menus, which I appreciate. Also, I like that, even though you have a waitress, everyone kind of works together, so our table was always bussed, our water glasses always full, and when we needed extra small plates a passing by waitress to another table turned right around and brought them to us. The decor was just great, you feel like you are walking into a rustic speakeasy w/a contemporary vibe. I definitely want to go back and explore more of their menu (maybe their happy hour) and a friend's recommended Big Ass Burger Monday. What a cool place! Came on a Sunday for brunch after hearing some great recommendations. Really awesome decor- really feels like a fancy attic- and the Bloody Mary bar was decked out. Too bad I don't like tomato juice.. Heard the cocktails were a must so we got a strawberry fields iceball and lindacello. Both excellent and strong. I liked the way the iceball tasted better when a little melted into the drink. Bibimbap: interesting that we both decided to get Korean dishes for brunch. An interesting take on the traditional bibimbap dish, but very tasty and delicious nonetheless. Great flavors with a nice poached runny egg (just the way I like it), and the black rice was scrumptious. Flank steak: delicious. Worth the extra money. I was with a group of 4 who popped in on a whim on a Saturday night around 7pm. They were fully booked, but the hostess put us at a table that was reserved at 845. We still had plenty of time to eat and appreciated the great service! They serve tapas style and all of the dishes were amazing. I don't know for sure, but seemed like a seasonal menu with rotating dishes. We had the bacon wrapped dates (fantastic with a tomato sauce), the buratta (served with a thing grain cracker/toast that was incredible in its own right), Seoul Food (a leveled up shrimp and grits), Pork Belly (amazing) and the Brussel sprouts, which may have been my favorite. Everything was light, fresh and delicious. They recommend 2 plates per person and each is ~$14. We were fine with 5, but if you're hungry you'd definitely want more. They have wonderful craft cocktails as well. I got a Speed Ball with cold brew and bourbon, served over a round cube. Very good. They also had a fun specialty cocktail made with Malort. Yes, that Malort. As a precious Chicago resident I couldn't wait to try and it was surprisingly sour and tasty. In addition to great food and drinks the ambiance is also wonderful. The food was amazing. Get the halibut! The vibe is down to earth, fun, hip, sorta feels like the secret hangout spot. The service exceeded my expectations. I got home from dinner and noticed I lost an earring I called to see if someone turned it in. Andrea who I talked to on the phone didn't find it immediately but ask for my number (which impressed me, she thought to ask for my number). Over the phone I could tell she was actively looking. I knew after talking to Andre that if my earring was in that restaurant she was absolutely going to get it back to me. Which is the way a customer wants to feel. A few days later she left me a message saying she found my earring. I never dreamed I'd get it back. years ago I left a pair of sunglasses at a restaurant on west 6th. I was the last table before closing, I knew exactly where I left them and the person I talked to didn't want to bother helping me or stole them. I went by the restaurant the next day to look and they were gone. I never got them back. Because I think they were taken by an employee I'll absolutely never go back to the restaurant. My girlfriend and I were in town for a fun girls weekend and stopped by for dinner. We did a bit of a sharing menu, and had three great dishes. We ordered a bottle of Cabernet from Washington. Great selection and reasonably priced. We started with the Bacon wrapped dates, served 5 on a plate. Great for sharing. Perfect balance of sweet and savory with the addition of the chorizo. Would recommend! Next we got the brussels sprouts and loved them. Cooked perfectly with carmelized edges. Pickled onions on top for a nice finishing touch, and a good portion size too! Our "main course" was the flank steak- served 4 slices steak, again, great for sharing. Served over three cakes of kimchi crispy rice. A little spicy, but paired perfectly with the steak. My favorite!! Service was outstanding and ambience was perfect for a date night out or girls dinner. Based on a local's recommendation, my friends and I stopped here for drinks before our dinner reservation at Counter 3 Five VII and it was such an enjoyable experience we came back after dinner! During our two visits, I was able to try two of their specialty drinks: * Lindacello- Basil infused Grey Goose, limoncello, pureed raspberries, topped with proscecco * Strawberry Fields Ice Ball I really enjoyed both drinks. Their signature ice ball cocktails are very interesting and unique, and we had fun playing the waiting game as our drinks slowly began to form through the melting process. On our return visit, many patrons around us were enjoying their dinners in the bar area and I really wish we would have had the opportunity to enjoy the food here as we were certainly impressed by the drinks and service. The vibe here was great but the drinks and the food not so much I got a glass of red wine and it was horrible The old fashioned drinks were really good though We tried the pork belly buns and the pork was rubbery and horrible. Swift Attic has slowly became my favorite Sunday Brunch go to place. The service and the food is solid. My must order dish is the TBC. There's absolutely nothing more delicious than a peanut butter sandwich being made into a French toast. I always get a side of eggs and eat it with the bacon that comes with the TBC. The $1 mimosas during Sunday brunch is awesome. For breakfast and 4 mimosas, my bill usually comes to about $25. It's a really great deal considering the quality of the food and the amount of drinks. The only thing I would say is that it's better to call ahead and make reservations since there's generally a pretty long wait time during Sunday Brunch. Now on to the drinks review. Swifts Attic is also a very nice place for cocktails. Their ice ball cocktails are fun but it takes forever to finish because the ice ball takes forever to melt. I would recommend their regular cocktails over the fancy ice ball cocktails. read more

Love the vibe, darkish, can still read the menu without your phone, etc... great staff, willing and able to share thoughts and recommendations in a friendly, real and not overly engaging manner(whatever that means). Loved the Bacon wrapped Apricots on dollop of mascarpone cream with a cilantro oil kicker to liven things up. The apricot works texturally as meat, you won't notice the difference, and its not that sweet, even with the mascarpone, really. Cut each in half to make it last. Also had the focaccia with chicken and chorizo, avocado mousse, mustard grains, pickled onions on thin buttered toast. The combination really works, lots of flavors, nothing dominates but compliments. Will be back for sure! read more
