The happy hour menu offered a great variety, and we enjoyed the she-crab roll, jalapeño hush puppies, salmon with chimichurri, blistered green beans and several Peach Mezcalitas. Everything was delicious, but what truly made the experience stand out was the service we received from Levi. Levi was attentive, personable, and professional throughout our visit. This review is specifically for their Wednesday steak frites special with bottomless fries. There have been quite a few restaurants in Austin offering great weekday steak frites specials lately, so I was excited to try this one. Unfortunately, the steak missed the mark for me. I ordered it medium rare, but it came out closer to medium-well. The meat also had a bit of a funk to it, which made it seem like it may not have been the freshest cut. The fries were also underwhelming--poorly seasoned and pretty forgettable. Based on this experience, I probably wouldn't come back for the steak frites or another steak/meat entrée. That said, the restaurant itself is beautiful and very vibey, and I could see it being a great spot to grab a cocktail on the patio. read more

Aiden was our server and had great recommendations. We started with sharing the 'LOADED' HASH BROWNS (GF). I wanted to eat it all day but had to save room! It melted in my mouth and I loved how much cheese was on it!! For my main dish, I got the AVOCADO TOAST 'CROISSANDWICH' and the flakiness of the croissant mixed with the avocado was divine. The sunflower salsa added a bit of heat which blended perfectly. My husband got the OMELETTE. We both love goat cheese and truffle anything. The arugula salad was so light and refreshing. The omelette was cooked exquisitely and I don't even know how to explain delightful flavor combination of the truffle butter with the goat cheese! Visited here on a work outing and really enjoyed our time. We had a table of 15 and the restaurant accommodated us very well. The drinks were good- spicy marg and espresso martini. The food was delicious! My favorites were the whipped ricotta appetizer and tuna tare tare. I got the carbonara and it was amazing and so was the Cesar and steak. Lovely patio, huge cups of coffee, and friendly service make this little spot tucked away in the Hotel Magdalena a great brunch option that may be an easier reservation to land than some other more well known Austin brunch locales. My gf and I went here on Friday afternoon. I love that the location is a bit secluded so it didn't even feel that we're really close to the busy Congress St (during SXSW too!). Connected to Hotel Magdalena, Summer House is tucked back behind some other businesses so it isn't on the main street, but this slightly hidden gem is a great vibe. They have both indoor and outdoor seating (with heaters), mid-century modern decor, a large bar, and the restrooms are outdoors. However, we had some slight issues with the food. You can make a reservation for Summer House on Music Lane in Austin on OpenTable, and there is plenty of street parking available, paid via app. If you can't find street parking, you can also valet or park in the large parking structure for a slightly higher amount. The staff member Dom was super nice & went above and beyond with his hospitality. Hopefully he is working when you go! For food, we shared 3 things for a late dinner, ~9pm arrival on a Thursday. MUST ORDER - Wood Grilled Mushroom ($12, GF/V) with tahina, good balsamic, and rosemary. This savory-smokey combo was delicious, and paired extremely well either the tahini below. The texture of the grilled mushrooms was absolute perfection, and anyone who even slightly enjoys mushrooms needs to share this dish. WARNING - Broccolini ($8, GF/V) described on the menu as "Broccolini, lemon, chili." This should come with a fire spice marker on the menu or a warning from the server. I have never had such spicy broccolini in my life - my lips were burning for the remainder of the night, and it looked like I had gotten lip injections. There were lots of chili pieces, both seeds and bits of the chili pepper, and if you're sensitive to spice, I strongly recommend that you ask to hold the chili, or maybe they'll eventually change the spice level on this dish if it's too spicy for the masses. Carbonara Pasta ($23) with bucatini, shaved pecorino cheese, country ham, and egg. This pasta has a very creamy egg sauce, and the pork is extra crispy. Another positive was that the water came in a large glass fish, which came with matching cups that were such a cute vibe. Unfortunately, even though our food was very spicy, we didn't get another bottle of water brought to us. I'd return for the vibes, decor, wood grilled mushrooms, and to try other things on the menu. Next time, I'd inquire about spice levels - especially if it says the word chili. read more

I ordered the challah French toast and italicus spritz. Loved the drink, citrusy but not bitter. The French toast was huge and with the mascarpone hardly needed to add maple syrup to it. It was a tad expensive for what it was, would have loved if it came with a small side portion. My husband and i spilt the loaded hash browns. We tried nearly half of the shareables, and I'm still thinking about the donuts (not pictured). I'm usually not a donut person, but these were so fluffy and flavorful! My friend ordered a salad with steak, and the steak was cooked perfectly, melting in my mouth. On the other hand, my order of biscuits and gravy with turkey sausage was disappointing. The gravy was too thick, cold, and it was lacking something. The biscuit was hard--I only ate about 25% of it. They also advertised a Topo Chico with ginger beer, which sounded interesting, but they brought the wrong drink twice, so I just let it go. Such a cute spot--perfect for a girls' brunch! The vibe is very Instagram-worthy, with the greenary outside and terrace, and the food came out pretty quickly. I had the Avocado Toast 'Croissandwich, and it was delicious! Loved the twist of using a croissant instead of a biscuit--it made all the difference. The flavors were on point, and I definitely enjoyed every bite. I also really enjoyed my vanilla latte. It wasnt too sweet and you could really taste the flavor. The only downside was the service. While the food was quick, the staff didn't really keep up with basic things like refilling our water. My meal was a bit spicy, so I ended up needing more water and had to wait a bit longer than expected to get help.
