Stopped by for happy hour on a Friday and there was more than enough room to spread out. We got: -Veggie tacos (very filling!) -shrimp tostadas (comes with two) -queso (get the over-fried chips, they make it!) -mix of margaritas Service was great, the food just wasn't something I'd drive downtown for. I will say though- there's an off-menu veggie quesadilla (jalapeño popper dip inside!!) calling my name next time!

Slightly off the beaten path of West 6th lies a Tex Mex place that features eclectic decorations and delicious food. We recently stopped by Ranch 616 and were pretty impressed by what they had to offer. As mentioned before, the decor is a bit wacky but it seems to suit the place well. Since it is right off of 6th, be aware that parking may not be the easiest to find and you'll have to settle with what you get. The interior and exterior are clean and lively and there is sometimes live music on their patio section. When we arrived we were quickly seated and ordered quick as well. The waiters were attentive and quick, which is always appreciated. One thing we noticed is that water comes in repurposed candle holders, which is cool but also means you get only a bit of water at a time before you need to refill. For food we ordered a plain cheese quesadilla, quesadilla of the day (ended up being chicken), and their ranch chicken sandwich fried. All the food was pretty good. The plain cheese quesadilla was perfect, just the right texture and filling of cheese. The quesadilla of the day was a standard chicken quesadilla featuring refried beans, cream, etc; pretty good, but nothing special. Lastly, the fried chicken sandwich was great, the chicken breaded well and very juicy, although is came out very very hot. Ranch 616 was a very welcome change to what you would normally expect from West 6th's bar and fast eats scene. There's a lot of character here and as people always looking for reliable restaurants in different neighborhoods, Ranch 616 definitely fits that bill. We will certainly be back if ever out on 6th and looking for some southwest/Tex Mex food.

Loved my experience at Ranch 616! We had a larger group of 8 for a birthday and it was super easy to make a reservation. Also truly appreciate the flexibility to sit inside instead of out. Our server was amazing, knowledgeable of the menu/cocktails, and attentive. The ambiance is very fun and lots of great drink selections (cocktails and shots). We did a variety of starters and everything was delicious. I was extremely happy with the service and appetizing food. Great spot for a group!

The food here was awesome! We had the chance to try the quail, and it was absolutely delicious. We also shared a platter of appetizers, and every single one was fantastic. Our server was great, super attentive, kept our drinks full, and offered excellent recommendations. We sat out on the patio and had a blast enjoying the atmosphere. Can't wait to come back!

-No restaurant parking all street parking, plenty but know this area gets busy b/c of west 6 -very cute restaurant, staff is very nice... I wouldn't say like very instagram. But live music outside amazing -$20 bottle of champagne with juice, love that. -I had the chicken fried steak and let me say it was good but chewy, it was my first time trying it but it was good. I am definitely a chicken fried chicken girl and if they had one of those it would be bomb af!!!!

Enjoyed a nice casual dinner tonight here with my family. Drinks were delicious and strong and the food was pretty good as well. We went with the Patron platter and a cup of tortilla soup. The tortilla soup is great and definitely top 5 I've ever had. The patron platter is huge and definitely more than 2 people can eat. Really liked the quail and frog legs the most. For drinks definitely try a ranch water. Also really enjoyed my banana bread old fashioned. Service was great throughout the meal.

Food was incredible! Service was great from our waitress as well! Very small and LOUD establishment! It was very hard to hear my husband speaking to me from across our SMALL table. This may be a deal breaker for some but we would come back because the food was worth it

The happy couple with guests at Ranch 616

We rented the restaurant for a wedding reception, dinner and dancing in April. As we negotiated with the team we were becoming nervous that we had made a mistake choosing Ranch 616. Being from Seattle, there wasn't much we could do but trust. We also weren't going to be able to see the space event day until we arrived. So we were anxious to say the least. I'm happy to say all of our nervousness was for not. The restaurant looked amazing, the food was on point and the staff was even better! The bartenders were over the top with their speed and Texas style attitudes. Our guests didn't have to wait in lines and the drinks were fantastic. The servers did a great job of working the crowd with plated appetizers and when it was time for the meal they were very attentive but not hovering. Just perfect. The kitchen staff were light on their feet and made sure the guests were well taken care of. Bravo! We opted for family style and that was a great way of bringing two families together. Dancing on the patio was great and the send off toast with the jalapeño shot was pure Texas fun. We highly recommend Ranch 616 for any event or simply a lunch or dinner when in town. We'll be back to enjoy some Ranch Water soon! From our family to the Ranch team...Thank You!

We had a super fun time eating here when visiting Austin- we ate all kinds to TexMex and frog legs and fried oysters - we leaned heavily on fried food and cocktails - a bit retro and fun, we enjoyed the food but had way too much of it lol - the place was hopping and folks seemed to be hcing fun - appeared to have locals and tourists, and the weed van was parked just outside - a phenomenon I haven't seen elsewhere. This place was fun and the ambience was lighthearted and joyful - having trouble loading images but you get the gist - fun and tasty

Went in on a Saturday morning around 11 and got seated right away. The inside decor is very southern/texan. Our waitress was amazing and provided amazing service. We had the following: Divorced Chilaquiles - this dish comes with house chorizo and fried egg , however I asked for chorizo to be on the side and got scrambled eggs instead. It's a big dish and so filling. The verde sauce that is used is very tasty. Overall this dish was amazing and highly recommend it. Husband tried the "Hungry Rancher" Burrito - this burrito sure has a lot of meat & flavors were on point. We will be back to try other breakfast and lunch menu items.

Fried Frog Legs, coleslaw, and potatoes! No Flavor Nasty!!!!

They had no issues when taking our second round order while we were seated, but we were asked to leave the table immediately after. This round also took forever and we drank it standing, crowded, in everyone's way. I was embarrassed as it was my birthday, and I was taking a group of 7 other people - new to Austin - here to check out what was one of my favorite spots. I was bragging about it and chose it over other spots on their list. They hated it. I'm disappointed. Our server was great to us and apologetic about the service bar.

There are some tables, and big comfy couches around a coffee table in the middle of the bar which is where we sat. I had one of their happy hour cocktails that was similar to a creamy espresso martini, and they are 50% off on happy hour days/times! My friend got one of their floral cocktails which wasn't discounted but I LOVED it personally. I also got a strawberry matcha drink (non alcoholic) that was a little too sweet in my opinion; I finished it but wouldn't get it again. Overall though the cocktails and vibe in there are worth a visit alone! When it's not too hot, the area outside has little mini-chandeliers and is also very vibey.

I usually only go to coffee shops to work, but today, went on a coffee date with my dog instead. There's ground floor parking in the garage that's complimentary for two hours. I kept it simple with a vanilla latte. I noticed they had tacos at the bottom of the food menu, but at $13.25 for two tacos + an a la carte item, I decided to pass. Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
