Came here with 5 other coworkers without a reservation for some happy hour goodness. They seated us quickly by the window, where we could see the sunset past Congress Ave. We had cocktails, wine, appetizers, and even some dishes off the dinner menu. The brussel sprouts were sweet and savory. The edamame dish was so interesting - with salty pop rocks! The shishito peppers were blisteringly good and the sauce. The calamari was soft and not tough at all and had a great sauce too. From the dinner menu, we had the ahi crudo dish which was light and refreshing. The seared scallop was cooked to perfection. Seriously. The accompanying veggies were also so tasty. The char siu belly was crispy and savory at the same time. The KBBQ steak was not as tender as I would have hoped, and tasted like a generic soy sauce blend. Not bad, but not sure I would order this one again. I had a New Fashioned which was surprisingly sweet. Not sure if I loved that, but it was interesting to try. Great service from everyone taking our orders! I did literally get stabbed in the back with a knife - so I would say that the wait staff should be a bit more careful with the tables so close. read more

Walking in the restaurant was very cute but the vibe was thrown off with awkward 2010s hiphop/pop. The service was not great. I think we got unlucky with our waiter because the section next to us seemed great. Unfortunately ours was very unknowledgeable about the dishes, as well as just having poor waiter training in general. At this price range, the waiter should be asking about allergies and dietary restrictions. I asked if their french fry dish had any dairy in it as I can't have that, and he said just in the side sauce. It came out covered in parmesan and I didn't realize until after a few bites. It could've been really bad if I had a serious allergy. He also would leave us for 15 minutes at a time which is very poor pacing for the small shareable dishes typical of the menu. We sat there unable to ask for a remake of my dish and to order our "mains", which sucked again, for the high price of the menu. We would then see him walking around rubbing hands on his head looking lost. It got so bad at the end that the other, busier, section waiter ended up taking our check for payment. It was all just very disappointing for the $100 dollars we paid for five small dishes and two mocktails. I was very disappointed and hope the staff gets some better training in knowing the dishes and quality service. The food overall was pretty decent. 3/5 of the dishes we had were good. What a cool place! Located in the heart of downtown Austin, this restaurant was very convenient and the perfect choice. This place used to be a meat processing plant and one the original murals is still up there. The light fixtures keep you looking up and the intimate ambience makes you want just chill and enjoy your visit. There are very interesting brunch options all with Locally sourced ingredients; you can tell by the beautiful orange color of the yolks on my "croque madame" selection. This dish had two fried eggs in top of a prosciutto sandwich with gravy. The flavors were all balanced with an Arugula salad with a citric dressing. The final touch was the delicious iced coffee recommended by the server. Wish I had more time to spend in Austin and try their dinner menu. I guess I have a good reason to come back! read more

This place is fantastic! My colleagues and I came here for dinner during a work trip recently and couldn't stop talking about it for days. To start, the signature ice ball drinks, while they look fairly simple, were super creative and delicious. I had the Strawberry Fields, which was very refreshing. Pro tip: try to crack the ice ball when you're about 1/2 done with your drink. Flavor explosion! Food: Charred edamame: everyone seems to rave about this, but it was only okay to me. I probably just didn't get a decent-sized pop rock because it only tasted slightly spicy, nothing crazy. Bacon wrapped dates: I could have eaten a bucket of these Sweet pots: delicious, and not too spicy Seared scallops: again, a bucket of these, please. These were the best, most perfectly cooked scallops I've ever had in my life. Pork cheeks: presentation was a little weird, you just put a giant spoonful of pork on top of a piece of toast but hey, it was tasty Super cute, insta-worthy decor. Service was on par. I brought a big group here, so made reservations ahead of time online. We had a party of 12 and they made room for us, but required us to have a prix fixe menu. A lot of the food was good flavors, but tiny portions for us all to share. So basically you end up with a bite of each dish. I guess luckily we weren't all too hungry, because its tapas style, but about one tapas for 4 people. So that should give you an estimate of what to expect. I had a taste of what Chef Mat Clouser had in store for Swift's Attic back in November at La Dolce Vita Food and Wine Festival and have anticipated the opening since! I went during the soft opening and was pleased to see what they have done with the place. I love the decor and exposed brick walls. The decor is sort of Industrial with pulley light fixtures and door nob curtains. My favorite table, which I want to reserve next time, is a velvet U shaped booth, with a bird cage chandelier lighting the table. The dishes are tapa style with some being more filling than others. You are not expected to order all the plates at one time and they tend to come out 2 at a time unless you ask them to do differently. We started off with the charred edamame with house made "pop rocks". The edamame was warm and the char and chili oil gave it a nice flavor. I enjoyed adding the pop rock salt and it was more salt than sweet but, like the candy, pops in your mouth. Our first round we ordered the raw Maine diver scallops. I eat sushi but haven't tried raw scallops. I chose the perfect dish to do so. The scallops were laid on thin slices of cucumber and cucumber sorbet and topped with Hawaiian sea salt. This dish was light and the flavors were perfect. We also ordered the foie gras & Niman (Ranch) pork belly bahn mi minis. This is the new version of what they served at the La Dolce Vita Food and Wine Festival and there was no way I could pass this dish up! The foie gras was spread lightly onto thinly sliced baguette with pieces of pork belly topped with cilantro and fresh slices of jalapeno. The foie gras gave this dish a nice twist and I liked that the pork belly was in small portions, not making it too heavy or rich. The second round we decided on sharing the quail. The quail is sourced from Bandera Texas and tasted like it was seasoned sparingly with salt and pepper. It is served with Anna Mary's hot water corn bread and golden raisin rum butter on the side. The corn bread is simple, corn meal and water fried. The rum butter was delicious on the corn bread. Dessert kicked ass! We went with popcorn and a movie. I dubbed it "when sweet meets salty". It is pieces house made chocolate crunch bars, with popcorn ice cream topped with sea salt and cracker jacks and dollops of root beer syrup on the side. Things seriously got silent besides the "mmmmms" and eye rolls as this perfect mix of sweet and salty was devoured. Swift's Attic has a full bar with both an extensive wine and beer menu along with a small specialty cocktail menu. It's taken years for me to get around to visiting Swift's but I can finally check it off the list, by way of a recent Sunday brunch. We loved the space that revealed itself after a walk up a narrow flight of stairs. The long, shotgun dining area is divided in the middle by a bar, with the effect of making the place seem intimate and expansive at the same time. The rustic, steampunk-ish decor feels perfect for the room. That, as you might guess from the rating up top, was the good part. The food was okay but I think I'll leave Swift's for the downtown tourists and hip kids. A faint whiff of touristy schtick masquerading as hipster authenticity doesn't surprise me given the location, but I was hoping for more. We started out with a couple of mimosas, which were on-point. The positive momentum started to wane when the food hit the table. My chilaquiles seemed to be composed of good-quality ingredients thrown together in an uninspired way, as if the recipe was sourced from a Google search for "easy, shortcut chilaquiles." The striaght-from-the-bag triangle tortilla chips weren't simmered in the salsa, they were just thrown in the bowl together, cold. Whatever warmth the dish had came from the scrambled eggs, but there wasn't much left of it when it hit the table. The girlfriend ordered an egg dish (Egg Sandy, perhaps?) and neither of us were clever enough to figure out that sandy meant sandwich. No big deal, it was good if unremarkable, as were the home fries and simple arugula salad. It was a pleasant brunch experience in a hip, cool place, and I'd go back for a fun meetup with friends. I wouldn't schlep downtown for the food, though, and that's a bit disappointing given that Swift's been on my to-try list for so long. read more

I really miss Kyoto. I even miss the crabby old Japanese woman who would nit pick everything you did from the minute you walked up the long flight of stairs off Congress Ave. Kyoto was the established and famous sushi restaurant (one of the original sushi places of Austin) that was around for 30 years in this spot where Swift's Attic now sits until they abruptly closed their doors for good about a year or two ago. It is going to take several visits to Swift's Attic to rub out my fond memories of my many visits to Kyoto but luckily I don't think that will be a problem because I plan on coming back frequently. This is my new favorite restaurant in Austin. Their menu consists of dishes that are smaller portions (almost tapas style) with things like foie gras, Niman pork belly, bahn mini; crispy twice cooked duck wings, black bean glaze and kaffir chili sauce; Long cooked octopus, Spanish chorizo, Corona beans, yellow pepper preserves; and the best thing on their menu: Diver scallop tiradito, cucumber, aji amarillo. The grilled edemame is a must as they serve it with chili oil and your favorite childhood candy: pop rocks. The sensation of the charred grill marks along with the spicy chili oil and the sweet pop rocks snapping in your mouth are quite a thrill. The cocktail list is nice though they add an upcharge of $2 if you want something special made even if it is simple like a mojito. They have a nice selection of Texas beers on draft. The decor is beautiful with the corner round booth the best seat in the house. The middle of the restaurant has a large open glass skylight. So when Sole, our daughter, had to make a decision about where to have her birthday dinner, she recalled a story her mom told her about this amazing dessert she had at lunch once at Swift's Attic. Popcorn and a movie - which consists of Caramel Popcorn, Root-beer gel... So she decided she wanted to eat there. A veteran of such awesome places like Barley Swine, she is an 11 year old Foodie. So I made reservations on Open Table... We arrived early, and were one of the first tables in the restaurant. So let me get some of the obvious out of the way. ... Ricardo our server was excellent, he explained the style of service/plating we were to expect, we let him say his thing, even though we are not new to this type of dining... in fact we love it... So after some drink orders, BTW - get the Champampaloma Bawombamboo -- excellent drink.... Pickles, Olives, Pop Rock Edamame, Blistered Shishitos, Banh Minis with Fois Grois Mousse and pork belly slab, Goat cheesy poof with goat meat, Serrano Ham with cranberry mostarda and crema fresca, Pork Cheek with fig spread on sourdough, and for dessert - Fried Brie and Apples, The aforementioned Root-beer gel dessert and from the staff for the b day - Chocolate 7 ways which had chocolate pop rocks as one of the ways....Are u kidding me... Honestly, I could easily take or leave this place. I brought some family whom were visiting from out of town and had previously read great reviews; however, I am simply unimpressed. There are some creative and ambitious takes on dishes that simply fell short for me. Swift's Attic has a wonderful ambiance, quirky style, and great service. Our server was animated and fun to talk to; however, the food simply does not hold a candle to the ambiance or whatever appeal this place offers. To start, the drinks: I ordered one of their Ice Ball Cocktails which sound like a good idea, but in practice are not. The idea behind these drinks is the mix for the drink is frozen into one large ball, then they pour the alcohol over it. Starts off with a kick, then gets smoother as you get further through it. While this seems like a great way to keep your drink cold without using ice, it is far from practical. The ice ball simply takes too long to melt, so you have two options: 1. You can drink the drink and end up finishing the alcohol long before the drink melts (By the time my food came and I had finished eating it was still not melted). 2. You can crush up the ice ball, defeating the whole purpose of the drink. I would not recommend these drinks: they are an ambitious attempt that simply falls flat on its face. Order a normal drink and save yourself the hassle. Unless you want to have a non-alcoholic drink after your shot, whatever floats your boat. The food on the other hand is hit or miss. Most people dining with me ordered the Braised Windy Hill Goat Shoulder, which was served with ricotta gnocchi, smoked fig-tomato ragout, and arugula pesto. This dish was enjoyable and made me regret my decision. I decided to order the Orange is the New Quail, which was an orange spiced quail with lardo, bok choy, fennel, black rice, and a black garlic vin. For a dish being called "Orange is the New Quail," you would expect a strong orange flavor, wouldn't you? The orange flavor was not very prevalent in my dish, the quail was a little on the dry side, and overall the best thing about this dish is the name. The bok choy was good, but I would advise avoiding this dish altogether. Finally, a common sentiment everyone at the table shared was the portions were too small. After finishing our meals we were all still hungry and ended up getting a slice of pizza on 6th street after just to fill ourselves up. Between the disappointing drinks, hit-or-miss food, and small portions for the price, the value simply is not here. I reluctantly give this place 3 stars since there are some good dishes (like the goat shoulder) and the ambiance/service were great. However, I think Yelp says it best with 2 stars when I say "Meh. I've experienced better." I may give this place another try for brunch, but I do not see that happening any time in the near future. read more

A friend whose palette I trust, told me he couldn't remember his visit to Swift's Attic at all. This made me a bit nervous as I traveled downtown to meet friends there for dinner. Now, I kinda see where he's coming from. I'm gonna chalk it up to the fact that we had a large lively group (including a distracting luscious lady next to me), we were busy talking and laughing and taking pictures and the food came secondary to that. None of the dishes were bad, but most I honestly don't remember, with only a few that actually stopped the conversation with awe. What tipped the star scale for me tho was the service. Our waitress was knowledgeable and PATIENT and willing to joke around with us. Just like a sushi restaurant, we ordered in fits and spurts and giggles and she handled it all very well. When they delivered the wrong drink to our table I said "This isn't ours. To be fair, we tasted it to make sure." to which she offered just to let us have it gratis. I actually just double checked the online menu to recollect what we had but it's totally different. I will say that the standouts for us were the little prosciutto thingies and the rib eye served on top of the kim chi whoziwhatsit and the special some kind of fish served on the Forbidden Rice. Yeah. Even tho it was forbidden, I asked our waitress for another bowl of just that and she delivered. Gingery, coconutty and so hot it burned my mouth, I scarfed it down like I was mad at it. I also enjoyed the Popcorn and a Movie dessert with it's combo of sweet and salty flavors. For me, it was a three star dinner bumped up for the service and experience. I'd like to go back with just my hubby, you know, on one of those "dates" that old married couples have where they don't talk much, just concentrate on the food in front of your faces. The atmosphere of this place is amazing - and the location? Fabulous. I loved the wicker basket lampshades, the cool music, and the awesome decor. It's a cool vintage chic, definitely a great place to happy hour with someone you want to subtly impress. However, I was pretty underwhelmed by the food. We had the following: 1. Shrimp hushpuppies - good, tasty and crunchy, though I will always prefer a nice tempura batter 2. Pork cheek bao - I HATED that the white bun was charred on the outside. I get that they were trying to give it their own spin, but it just tasted bitter to me 3. Calamari fries - super tender, very nice 4. The naked egg ravioli - basically a poached egg on top of prosciutto and green beans - with TONS of liquid at the bottom of the bowl. The liquid kind of turned me off, It didn't taste like that much to me, and diluted the liquid egg yolk So all in all, you can find some good things here, and the happy hour is a GREAT value, but some of the dishes I got were just a bit off. As the reviewership has mentioned, Swift's Attic is a buzzy new restaurant that wouldn't feel out of place in New York, Chicago, etc. Housed in the old Kyoto space, the walk upstairs into a beautifully crowded, dimly lit, swanky space only lends to this ambiance. Service was stellar. Our waiter was witty and helpful without being overbearing. When my friends, with eyes bigger than their stomachs, told him we were thinking about ordering the whole menu, he playfully obliged. He said "everything was great" (he lied), but picked out a few of his favorite must-tries. He also managed to snag us the second-to-last Ramen special. Plates are brought Uchi-style, in a specially crafted sequence, with detailed explanations. Two immediate comparisons came to mind: the amazing new Underbelly in Houston, and the big bold Girl & the Goat in Chicago. Like both places, Swift's Attic's menu is small plate, table sharing friendly. The menu and ambiance falls somewhere in between Underbelly's rustic and earthy versus Girl & The Goat's glitzy and bold. Before I go into detail about the dishes, I'll lay it right out: almost exactly like Girl & The Goat, Swift's Attic is way, WAY too generous with the salt. It may have been our fault from ordering almost exclusively from the right side of the menu (the "heavier" side, per our waiter), but when in doubt, chef Mat Clouser is more than willing to go heavy-handed with his NaCl. My dining associate, a fanatic about Uchi, made the astute comment that at Uchi, all the dishes are chi-ly perfectly balanced. Suffice to say, we did not feel this way about Swift's Attic. The ramen special was my personal favorite, though it's ramen in name only. Flavor-wise, it tasted much more like Taiwanese niu rou mian than Japanese ramen. The heavy oxtail influence and thick broth contributed to much more of a beef than pork flavor. I loved the thick noodles, which, likewise, skew to the former Asian-based soup. The ramen was one of the "heaviest" dishes of the night, but luckily was brought early. The twice-cooked duck wings on their own were downright incredible, as was the venison kabab. Yet the sides, while similarly themed, felt disjointed from the dish in taste. Is that an acceptable Chopped phrase? I'm not sure how else to describe it. I was a fan of the oxtail flatbread after I scraped off the blue cheese. In keeping with the oversalted, we all felt that this dish could have used an acidic or refreshing influence rather than another huge wallop of savory. I didn't fancy the the pork cheeks, but both my fellow diners starred this as their favorite. They cited the refreshing jam and biting mustard as very helpful. In retrospect, the oxtail flatbread, pork cheeks, and banh minis are superfluous. Order one, not three. Same with the quail and duck wings, both of which serve the same function. I loved the Swiftine tater tots, perfectly fried bites of crispy, potato-filled goodness. But the ham hocks were over-the-top salty and unnecessary, and the cheese-gravy duo that turns ordinary potatoes into mouth-watering poutine was almost non-existent. Bookending our meal were the shishitos and the octopus. I preferred my first shishito experience at Bar Congress, while I think the octopus was good, but with one heavy dish too many, I couldn't properly enjoy it. We were way too stuffed for dessert. Drink menu was stout. Specialty cocktails were $10 and skewed girly, but I liked my cheeky-named Prince Edward's Ass. The beer menu is underrated, but I'm happy I didn't get too many to further bloat the stomach. Overall, I vacillated between 3 and 4 stars, but I'm generally generous, so 4 stars it is. read more

After seeing the Swifts Attic was "Hot on Yelp," the ladyfriend and I recruited some friends to check it out. We showed up around 6pm on a Saturday without a reservation and were informed that it was their busiest night ever according to the books. Unfortunately that meant we didn't have a full sized table, but that didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves. Switfts' is located upstairs above the Elephant Room jazz club. Once you walk up you are greeted by a very uniquely decorated restaurant. It's got a vintage vibe. There are paintings of Swifts (birds) that are slightly frightening because they're dressed like human's in them. They have an amazing round bench table that has a bird cage hanging above it. The bar is sort of shoved in an odd spot in my opinion, but I think that was to maximize the seating capacity because it's a very long and thin restaurant. Speaking of the bar, the dranks were excellent. I had them mix me up a tasty Sazerac and I also had one of their house speciality drinks - everyone seemed satisfied with their drinks. Their bartenders came up with quite a few excellent unique drinks. We started the meal off with the Blistered shishitos, which are friggen incredible little peppers. They're not very spicy, but very good when dipped in Swift's homemade sauce. Then we had the charred edamame with pop rocks. Yes, the same pop rocks you had as a kid growing up. Sounds gross, right? But it was one of the most memorable parts of the meal because it was so strangely delicious. For a final appetizer we tried a dinner special, which essentially was a bunch of deep fried veggies and meats. Good stuff, but some people were weirded out by the fried fennel. For an entree I ordered up the Springdale Farm veggie dish. It was made with "Forbidden Rice," which is quite tasty. The online menu doesn't seem to have it, but I believe that is because they rotate dishes frequently. Don't worry vegetarians, half their menu is made for you. For dessert we decided to go with Popcorn and a Movie. It's a bit difficult to describe. Ice cream and popcorn were involved; it's delicious, order it. Portions are small, so be prepared to order several things. Definitely call ahead and place a reservation if possible. This place has been hot on Yelp since it was opened and there is a reason for that. read more

Alright people, this spot is Uber Chic and definitely recommend this spot. The host and waitress were really polite and the waitress gave us recommendations which we ended up liking a lot. Love the ambiance, cool lights, bird body painting and everything. Went here with my best friend and we both loved this spot, very chic and happening. As for drinks, we got the holiday special - hot toddy and new fashioned. Both really good drinks and you need to try hot toddy if you have never tried it before. For food, we got the sweet pepper burrata, ooooooh its a must try you all. DO NOT leave if you haven't tried this dish. we also got the Brussel sprouts which was just okay and we got the Pork Belle Verde, loved loved this dish too. Definitely recommend this spot. read more

We were introduced to this place by a friend and it was very very good. The food is almost tapas style and very good for sharing. Their drinks are amazing and they have high quality liquor if you choose to. They also have a fun spin on cocktails and have sphere ice cubes that are filled entirely with the ingredients of your drink. You get to choose the liquor that you want to have added and you can get about 2 drinks out of it. Definitely a must try as this is the only place that I have seen this done before. Enjoyed happy hour with a couple drinks and 3 tapas plates. The New Fashioned was the better of the two based on personal taste, loved the grapefruit twist. Swifts Karaage chicken was good although we sipped the mushrooms, no harm against the plate. And the snack plate was basic but enjoyed the carrot hummus which has a kick of sweetness! It has taken me a while to finally dine at the swanky Swift's Attic! It was an interesting night out in downtown Austin - great ambiance, crafty drinks and creative dishes. Our group of 5 ordered about 13 dishes + a dessert and it was a decent amount. We were seated at a rather small table for a group of 5 (more like a 4 person table), though it didn't seem like there was anything else available. Our server was very pleasant with an upbeat attitude however, one busser was a little off. When the busser brought an extra dish to our table, we told her we had only ordered 1 not 2. She proceeds to tell us that she had already brought it over and insisted we needed to eat it. Very odd and slightly rude. Afterwards, we told our server and he took care of the issue. Anyhooo, let's move on to the more memorable (and worth noting) dishes of the night. The awesomeness: Charred Edamame with pop rocks - delicious and very tasty, you must add the pop rocks to give it that extra crunchy, popping texture. Devils on Horseback (figs & gorgonzola) - absolutely amazing. I usually don't like gorgonzola but the combination of that with the figs and candied bacon, so divine! Got that salty & sweet flavour. The beet salad & Grilled Butternut squash were delicious. Both dishes were dressed nicely and the flavours oh so rich for a plate of veggies. YUM. The Korean BBQ Flank Steak - flavour flavour flavour Wow. Party in my mouth! The steak was tender, the rice cakes were a tasteful addition! And the sweet galbi sauce brings the dish together. Slightly over salted, but nonetheless very good! The oh-so average dishes: Corn Fritters - nothing special about this dish at all. Just fried batter with bits of corn. Orange is the new quail (on fresh sheet) - quail meat was tough and the dish was rather salty. The fungi dish - creative use of the different types of mushrooms (even had snow fungus - a delicacy in Chinese food). However, this dish was by far the saltiest dish EVER. Lighten up on the soy & salt! You needed to gulp down a glass of water after each bite. The fried pig ears lettuce wrap - heavily sauced with not so crispy pig ears were hard to chew and tough. Perhaps the heavy sauce had made the crisp ears into soggy ears. Funfetti tres leches - pretty much grocery box cake in little bite size pieces. Pricey for what it is. So there it is. My experience with Swift's Attic. Overall most of the dishes we ordered were good, minus the few exceptions. Dishes were inventive and creative. Will come back again. read more

This small, somewhat upscale restaurant/bar sits above the Elephant Room and is geared for the older crowd. You will need reservations to eat there or arrive early in the evening to get a spot at the bar area. With all that arranged, this place is great for an evening out with your date or significant other. I was impressed with their weird beer selection and but mainly with their specialty desserts. We had some crazy awesome dessert made from banana creme pudding, chocolate dumpling things, chocolate flake, espresso ice cream, and candied pecans. Went here for a birthday dinner with my friend and loved it! We had the Brussels, Burrata, and the Korean steak with crispy rice which were all amazing! The steak was the real winner- perfectly cooked and the rice cakes were so delicious and unique. We had the tres leches for desert- also super unique having the flavors of tres leches without being heavy. It was wonderful! For cocktails I love their drinks with the frozen centers- so much fun- can't wait to try a new flavor. Make a reservation, it's a small space. read more

You know where the Elephant Room is? It's right above it! The layout and decor are uber cool! All the detail...the light fixtures, the paintings, the floor, the hostess table, the plates. My eyes were enamored. Great cocktail menu too! Then, came the food. Small plates. Unfortunately they were all out of their mussel dish, but happily settled on the quail, pork cheeks, and panzanella. If you had to choose only one, make it the pork cheeks. Holy crap. It adds up quickly, but it's worth it. I think some of the tables are communal and the others are about a foot away from one another with a shared bench, and it's a tad loud, so perhaps not a recommendation for a first date. This place. This place.... Love the decor. Very cool. My favorite is the bird cage in the back. Still trying to figure out how they did it. The people, very cool also. The staff was friendly, but professional. The perfect balance IMHO. The seating: Different. A large section is community table. Love it. Very European. But, it also means you might sit next to people you wouldn't have chosen. But go open minded (probably not a romantic dinner unless it's your 'thing') and it makes for a good time. Meanwhile, there's plenty of tables for a pair or a 4 top. Still has a good feel and is enjoyable to sit and munch. The food: Wow. It's so different. Nothing I can compare it to. It's good. Just gotta find the items you like most. We tried: The Kimchi sampler and it was actually pretty good. The only part: What to eat it with? It's just Kimchi. Not particularly spicy, good flavor, but I guess I thought it needs something to eat it with. The duck wings: YUM! I am a HUGE fan of crispy duck and was excited about these. Yes, I love them. and will get them again. Easy to eat, drumstick style. and I didn't need any sauce. They were perfect. A bit on the salty side, but hey, I've always liked my crispy duck salty. The cheese plate: Pretty good actually. Nothing too extravagant on there. This plate would do well for most anyone, except maybe a cheese snob. Mostly cow and 1 goat. But enjoyable. Will get again. The Squid Fries: YUM! We really loved these. the batter was perfect and the seasoning was great. Another favorite. The Venison Kabob: Hmmm, not so much. most of the pieces were the perfect texture and flavor. Not gamey at all. But I did have a piece that still had the chewy 'skin/ tendon' (forgot what it's called, it's the clearish layer on venison) still on it. No biggie, but gave the impression that the person prepping in the back maybe doesn't know better or missed that one? The ONLY bit about this dish that should be stated LOUDLY: It comes between rare and medium rare in it's preparation. It's seared only and the inside is still very red (uncooked) and the customers next to us, their's was still bloody. Not bad, just be prepared for a tartar kind of experience with this one. Drinks: I had their version of Mexican Martini and it was SOOO GOOD! I hate it when alcohol tastes so yummy. Just want more. :) All in all, really glad to see this place move into this location. I've been to Swift's Attic twice for lunch and have been slightly disappointed both times. The atmosphere is dark and cool, and the service is friendly but sometimes a bit slow. My main gripe is the food. It's just not that great, and it's expensive for what you get. I've had the burger, which was really over-hyped by my waiter and ended up tasting good but average. The french fries that came with it, though, were truly bad. No flavor, no salt and pepper or seasoning of any kind. I've also tried the steak salad, which sounded really interesting on the menu, with kimchi, rice ball "croutons" and an asian-inspired tangy vinaigrette. The steak came out lukewarm on my salad even though the restaurant was empty at 2 p.m., the lettuce was dressed really heavily so that it wilted, the steak was really tough to chew, and overall the dish was pretty disappointing. I do see hits of creativity all over the menu, but it just didn't come together for me in a taste I enjoyed. read more

I got to check out the soft opening last week & despite it being crowded and busy and noisy and brand new, the service was great, the staff was very friendly, the drinks were delicious and the food was great. we got to try most everything off the menu...for appetizers we had charred edamame, shishito peppers, onion rings, fries - all good, especially loved the peppers & sauce. also had pork cheeks with sour dough bread, fig & mustard spreads. chicken meatballs with a crazy weird/good nori sauce. scallop with cucumbers. trout with tapenade & broth. duck wings. pork belly & foie gras bahn minis. tater tot queso fresco poutine. venison kabob. and an interesting fennel & egg concoction. everything was really good. sadly they were out of the quail with rum butter, and we didn't even get to try dessert, so i'll definitely be back! highly recommend drink -- The Sir Gallahad! Whoa! 2-stars? Yes, 2-stars. Undrinkable craft cocktails mixed with no attention to customer service absolutely deserves 2-stars. My bitters was over the top bitter so I asked if it could be made a little less bitter. Yes was my answer. All I had to do was pour my hand-made $13.00 cocktail into another glass so the bartender could add sprite and viola. Another glass of an undrinkable $13.00 craft cocktail. How is this craft? How is this customer service? How can my GF and I justify spending $27.00 on two craft cocktails (before tip) on bad customer service and undrinkable craft-cocktails? Nice use of space. Nice bar. BF and I had an amazing anniversary dinner here! I made reservations online and in the special notes I put that we were celebrating our anniversary. As soon as we came in, our hostess wished us a happy anniversary! The restaurant may be hard to find because there is no big sign. We parked in the parking lot behind Frank's and it was a short walk. Their name will appear on the door but make sure you go upstairs! Their style is small plates/tapas. Our waitress recommended at least 2 dishes per person saying that the meat ones would be more filling. We ordered four and we were good. We started off with the squid fries which is basically fried calamari. It was good but the breading didn't stick. Next we had the crispy pig ear lettuce wraps which was probably my favorite dish that night. If you like chicharones then you'll love this! So crispy and light. Next we had the shrimp boil and the flavor was spot on. Final dish was the pork cheeks and those were so tender! I highly recommend that and the pig ears. I also tried one of their signature ice ball cocktails. It's fun and really refreshing. At the end of dinner our waitress surprised us with one of their popular desserts, movie and popcorn which was delicious but not too sweet. Service was great throughout our dinner. I highly recommend this place for girl's night, date night, or to celebrate any special occasion. They'll treat you right! read more

What I love about Swift's Attic is the excellent food and service. The staff here is very knowledgeable about the menu and the preparation of the food. They ask ahead about food allergies and can suggest accommodations. The plates are small shareable portions and it is the best if you come here with a group of three or four people so you can try nearly everything and you'll want to because everything sounds, and is, amazing. The wait staff expertly handles the timing of the dishes so you can enjoy a couple of items at a time. Then those plates disappear and new treats arrive. The brunch on Sunday's is also phenomenal! If you get there at 10:30, you'll get right in. I love Swifts and only wish it were closer to my house. read more
