It pains me to write one star reviews. 1. The chemistry was so off that it caused issues with our fountain. If you have green to blue discoloration, it can require sand blasting and very $$$ repairs. Chemistry is key. Eventually, we asked for readings but often did not receive them. 2. Now we know why we had so many issues as we have learned how bad the chemistry was...and even why we had mold in corners of spa. So many issues. Our pool cover failed too early too (though that may have been when we were going from Jared's company (see previous pool reviews) to Yaz, which was handed over from Jared due to geographical reasons. 3. Not honest about service (work done/time spent...sometimes he was in and out so fast!). Our pool was often not very well cleaned, even though we got the robotic pool cleaner (as recommended by his colleague Jared) and continued to be recommended by Yaz) 4. Would quote for work, and advise he was not up-charging but then his quotes were the highest. We did not have transparency on who would actually be doing the work and if they licensed etc (lights change out for example.) Née heater install was quoted with no transparency or details). to change out one broken light on the fountain, it was over $1000. Communication on the process was lacking as well. 5.Note, his website does not necessarily show his clients pools. He had to remove his facebook page for putting up other people's homes/pools/fountains that he did not service but implied he did. 6. As with any supplier, decide if you want your home used in their advertising or not...and be clear. Be mindful the image as you see on his website or other business pages are actually not necessarily of water features or ponds or pools that he services. 7. Improper maintenance of the pool also meant he would try to tell us that all the sand in the pool and spa was normal. It eventually lead to heater breakage and more expensive and problems not to mention a dirty pool after a visit. I do hope he is able to improve his service and that someday you will read many good reviews. We let him go in April and I have had to let some time go before i do the review. read more

Swimming Jewel has serviced our koi pond, pool & spa for over 20+ years. Yas and his team have always been there for me, even on holidays, with all the kids and company excited for a "California Christmas", where they get to go swimming. Even on a holiday if something has gone out unexpectedly or our gardener has tinkered with something by accident, he has always made it a priority to get back to me, come over himself to troubleshoot or send me someone to help. I enjoy talking with him and I trust his advice. He takes time to explain things to me verbally & follows up with an emailed proposal. This is my newest member of the family, my husband just surprised me with this gorgeous koi fish. Yas says it's a Benigoi, "beni"means red in Japanese, "goi" means fish. He's always made it fun learning so much about the Japanese culture and the incredible education he has had from the time he was a little boy growing up helping his father with the koi. I'm lucky I got in with Yas 8 years ago, when I first bought my home in the area, as he's not taking on new clients. So, let me say I wasn't the best pond owner pre-pandemic. To put it bluntly I was super cheap. Yas always worked with me and my, "budget", lol. During the pandemic when I couldn't travel and was stuck at home I realized I wanted to invest more in my pond. I was exercising and doing Tai Chi every morning and evening by the pond, having picnics and date nights by the pond, the pond and the grounds were finally getting 90% more use than EVER BEFORE. First request was higher quality fish I wanted my pond to be a show stopper, not just some pitiful old fish that came with the pond when I moved in, and I wasn't going to try to figure it out on the internet when I have a resource like Yas in front of me. I told Yas what I wanted and he sent me photos of available specimens from Japan and I picked out what caught my eye, I wasn't going to Europe anytime soon anyhow. After some other work that he subcontracted out to get done my new filter and UV system was up and running and the pond was like night and day. I should have done this years ago, but, like they say, you get what you pay for. Bottom line, aside from my experience, Yas is kind, considerate, conscientious and so flexible with customer needs. He never complained when I wanted tin can service, but excelled my deepest desires when I went ALL IN and TRUSTED HIM TO MAKE MY POND A WORK OF ART, LITERALLY! read more

Great business, down to earth owner, keeps it simple for me. We've got ponds, streams & fountains. When I was a young man many years ago the wife and I set up house here, gotta be some 40 or more years ago now. I built out the land around the house myself. I'm no professional, I just like to make things, my grandkids tell me they call it a DIY these days! Even though built out some great ponds, streams and gardens, I'm no fan of caring for them. That's where this fellow, Yas comes in handy. Over 20 years he's been here with us making sure the water stays clean, I like it natural, not all prissy scrubbed clean, but clear healthy and natural looking, like you just walked out the back kitchen door and wandered down them paths and found some enchanted gardens. I know there's different types of landscaping for every home, and Yas can satisfy whatever you lookin to do with your pond or fountains. Wife an I have referred him to lots of our friends in Hope Ranch an Montecito, lemme say those ponds and grounds are the bees knees! When I get this flagstone project done I'll get a photo or two to share with ya'll. read more

Yasutomi and his team are wonderful, they service two of our homes water features and our beach house. We have had him since 1998 before he even started Swimming Jewel in 2000. His family came from Japan and we used to go to his fathers Koi Store in town and also the one in Redondo Beach to visit and pick out specialty Koi. I remember Yasutomi as a young man with a wonderful work ethic, kind and the type of thoughtfulness you don't normally see in kids. His family distributed koi from Japan all over the world, they even had mud ponds for the koi in Camarillo in the 80's, my husband and I got to visit and see first hand. Yasutomi's father was an amazing and generous man, it's a shame that people took advantage of that man's kindness and generosity. We've been nothing short of eternally grateful to have him all these years, as his honesty and hard work isn't something to take lightly in this day and age where liars and laziness prevails.
