It was cold the day went but, if you get warm weather, try for their outdoor patio. I ordered the lemon rosemary hummus (delish) with gluten free crackers and it came out with lots of sliced veggies, olives and pickled carrots and onions. A great value! My main course was king salmon and it was perfect. I ordered a lemonade and was disappointed that the tall skinny glass it was served in was full to the top with ice, so there was very little left to drink. My husband enjoyed the Cesar salad he ordered, tasted like a traditional Cesar. He tried the special beef cheeks and found them to be very fatty and gelatinous. He wouldn't recommend them. Small wine bar snuggled in downtown Olympia (off Capitol not where i thought it was on the more downtown numbered streets). Prices are high but the staff is so friendly and answered all of our questions and we stayed for hours and we were not kicked out. We had brunch which is different from their dinner menu. Ordered wine flights, biscuits and gravy, croissant sandwich, and drinks. For 3 of us we spent about $200. Parking is interesting i guess Sunday mornings it is free at all other times it is metered and you walk up a 2 story ramp. There is a Parking lot that does not belong to the bar. My wife and I we were were fortunate enough to try, Swing's first ever brunch and it did not disappoint. We tried the Shashuka with naan bread, sausage, biscuits and gravy, with eggs over easy and roasted potatoes. Potatoes. We even tried their Mimosa flight which was very nice. What a treat! We started with the local red wine flight - such a great way to experience the region. Then came a crisp, bright Pinot Grigio that totally wowed us. Swing sits in a charming little old house perched on the hill, and the outdoor seating is a dream - the views of Capitol Lake are spectacular, especially at sunset when the golden light hits just right. East-west facing makes it even more magical. This is such a great "get to know each other again" spot - romantic, quiet, relaxed. Came down with my lady friends for Hapy Hour and it was so fun. It was a sunny day so like everyone else, we hit the patio. Did we get a pretty view? nope, so I have to judge based on food and ambiace so here goes. I started with the bacon wrapped dates and it was good. Sis tried the heese fondue and it was delicious and had lots of bread so we'll be getting that again. Our friend tried the pizza and it was pizza. Another tried the bruschetta dn it was pretty good. I had the Kobe burger and it was nice and juicy so no complaints there. We all also tried the wine flights and i thought it would be the typical board with a handful of wine glasses ina row, but instead they served their flights in this winding metal apparatus, like we were at an afternoon tea of something. We enjoyed the evening hanging out and it was a fun experience, but I don't know. The food was good but not memorabl, and I'm looking for memorable. read more

On our last inside visit in mid-January, service was just sad. We let our server know that we had made a 5:30 reservation because we had a 7:30 play. Our server later let us know that she forgot to "pace" our order and that our appetizer would come out with our entrees, "if we still wanted it...". We kept the order and waited for an hour. Our appetizer arrived--no entrees. At 7:00, we asked about our entrees and were told, "they are in the window." 7:15, and our entrees arrived with to-go boxes? Squash entree was really undercooked. This is a gem of a place that I stumbled upon while here for work. It had a small town charm with good folks. I'm not sure when I'll be Olympia again so I'm comfortable letting other people know. We had reservations fot our 49th wedding anniversary. My husband requested a specific table with a view. We were not seated at the requested table and instead seated in the bar. When my husband questioned this he was told that we would still have a view. After about 30 minutes we were asked if we wanted to change to the table we originally requested. My husband had the lamb which was good. I had the salmon cakes. They were so spicy I could only eay half a one. The menu did not state that the salmon cakes were spicy. When we mentioned this to the waiter- he said he was sorry. He did not offer to exchange for another meal or even ask me if I wanted something else. When we got the bill the salmon cakes were charged. When we said to the waiter that we shouldn't have to pay for it, we were told that he told the chef amd that he hadn't received any other complaints. I was appalled. The risotto was unexpectedly soulful, though not in the Italian way we were expecting. Instead of bold Italian flavors, it reminded me of the rice porridge my grandmother used to make: warm, gentle, and deeply nostalgic. A couple of mushrooms on top added a hint of sharpness, as if to remind you this was risotto, not breakfast at Grandma's. Small rusty-colored pieces of beet added a light mineral note and visual interest, almost like a deliberate design accent.We came for Italy, but left with nostalgia. This is a cute and cozy lounge with an incredible view. I can't believe I didn't know it existed until this weekend! There is both indoor and outdoor seating, but it is pretty small, so reservations are recommended. They have a delicious sounding menu, but we were full from dinner, so we just got the pepper and strawberry sorbet from a local company, and it was quite good. Cocktails were great, and I enjoyed my wine. Service was quick and helpful, and we loved the view at sunset. read more

Swing Wine Bar & Cafe offered us refuge after a long day. Perfectly situated, albeit hidden out of view, you might even miss it. But once you find it, this unassuming spot is truly a hidden gem. Time your stay with the setting sun, and keep in mind that your meal is guaranteed to be a romantic one (so be careful who you bring!). We had a flight of bubbly wine, carefully curated by the Swing Wine sommelier and presented in an artfully-geometric cascade with descriptions of each. We also shared the stuffed and roasted portobello mushroom with a spinach-herb pistou (an olive-oil based basil pesto originating in the Provence region of France that is perfectly balanced in flavor and contains no nuts or cheese). I had the artichoke & feta roasted chicken, which was a delectable arrangement of perfectly cooked chicken breast balanced on top of a bed of artichokes, potatoes, and a squash sauté. My partner had the Wild King Salmon, which in her words was "perfectly tender, melts in the mouth, and accompanied by deliciously creamy polenta and well-seasoned brussels." The other guests seemed to have confirmed the convivial ambiance, as everyone around us was smiling, laughing, and absorbed in conversation. We will surely be returning soon--but not too soon, lest we exhaust this titillating gem from our repertoire of romantic gathering spots--to sample the other mouth-watering offerings and enticing cocktails. Stopped by here for dinner with a large group on a rainy Tuesday in Olympia. They have an amazing list of cocktails and we ordered a bunch of them everything was delicious. Their wine selection is great and we tried a few reds and loved it all. The food here was also very nice. We ordered a lot of appetizers - stuffed mushroom, the flatbreads and the brisket. I typically don't like dolmas, but they became my favorite thing on the plate. I love that they offer gluten-free crackers too. I got the beef brisket.
