I like the industrial warehouse feel of this coffee shop. It doesn't feel like a cookie cutter, although they are expanding. All the coffee here is good. Service is quick on the weekdays but expect to wait 10 minutes for a speciality drink on the weekends. The outside area has a few tables and allows dogs. Recommend the Gluten free banana nut muffin with your coffee! (They source the baked goods from local bakeries.)

Swings is a solid roaster and coffee shop. This may be one of the few I go to for a cup of drip. There are also pasties to chow on with your cup of Joe. Even better they use ceramic cups which makes the coffee taste better than paper. It is a less wasteful approach. There is seating but there are a lot of digital workers so that is the only downside.

Love the space, it's warm and industrial looking. Would love to check out the roastery part but not today! I ordered a seasonal snickerdoodle iced latte which was fabulous. It was the perfect sweetness and a great flavor for the holidays. Service was swift and quick.

I had the fall spice latte. Perfect for a cool morning, not overly sweet and a good mix of all the right spices. The temperature was perfect, hot but not tongue burning hot. Cute spot near Del Ray.

Great coffee shop with a large indoor space for working, chatting with friends, or just enjoying your choice of drink/treats. It's a very large space with lots of seating options. They had a lot of merch for sale as well. We ordered a hot vanilla chai latte and an iced mocha. Both were good. My chai was 'spicier' than what I'm used to but still very good. We also ordered some pastries, a chocolate croissant and a cinnamon roll. Both good, but their cinnamon rolls are topped with cream cheese rather than traditional icing. I must admit, I wish it had been bigger! Service was quick a friendly!

This is my go to location for Swings coffee ... one of the oldest roasters in the U.S. They roast their coffee here and I'm proud to support this local roaster by purchasing their whole beans. I went today here during lunch and the cashier was helpful when I asked if they ran out of decaf Colombia, she mentioned just to wait for about 15 minutes since they were about to package. That is customer service! Thanks!

Swings is a winner. Friendly staff. Amazing interior set up and design. Community tables and some smaller 2 person ones. A little off the path from other places you may be walking unless you're at the park across the street. I always seem to miss the fresh baked goods when I come in but was finally able to get my hands on a chocolate chip cookie that they partner with another shop for and it was delicious. This visit I had a vanilla latte and it was delicious. Busy on weekends so gotta be patient, especially when the fields across the street are in use.. all in all I would recommend them! As I always look for something to improve on, I noticed a lack of electrical outlets especially if you are at any of the big tables.. so have whatever you need charged if you plan on working for a bit.. also a little pricey but you are paying for quality stuff!

It seems like I'm always driving or walking past this place ever since I moved to Alexandria over a year ago. I finally found time to swing by (pun unintended) and give the place a try. I was completely amazed by the open view of the roasters behind glass. We really enjoyed seeing the green coffee go into the roaster as we sipped on our lattes. My husband even got an espresso before we left. I'm a huge coffee connoisseur and it's tough finding good coffee in the area, so it was great to finally have a decent coffee or espresso. They also offer cupping (which I've done in Rwanda), but I couldn't find the schedule.

I can't believe reviewers are whining about bean bag sizes and foam art!! Their product is freaking delicious. Top tier, period.

Latte and cappuccino barely warm, no foam art, larger foam on cappuccino and no foam on latte. Went somewhere else to get what we wanted.

Unfortunately, whoever the individual was on shift today was just a total piss poor person - she seemed to have an issue with our party, as she automatically assumed we just came there to 'squat' without ordering anything (if you have been to this place before, there isn't much seating and this isn't where you'd want to sit for a bit anyway); when I called her out and stated that I already knew our party's orders, she backtracked. She then continued to make a snide comment on the number of drinks we were ordering - what's with the passive aggressiveness? I didn't know that there was some rule that each person was required to order something. Like, are you okay? I just had a bad feeling about all of this, and we should have just walked out instead of giving our money to support this business - to add to it all, the coffees that we did receive (latte with soy milk, and the mocha) were just poorly made and not strong at all; they were both watered down and bitter at the same time... come on! UGH, the regret, but it was a choice. Shame on you, Via Volcán! You might want to heavily reconsider who you employ and train them better - this individual is really hurting your business! What a miserable person. Street parking can be found in the area. +NASTY employee +watered down/bitter coffee +street parking in the area

By 10:30 am though, there were many more customers and all tables were taken. So come here by 10 am if you want to nab a table. The drinks I had here so far are: - Bluebell espresso soda - brisk, fruity, and refreshing. It has an intriguing complex blend of flavors (jasmine, blamango, coconut). Really unique! - Rose cardy latte (iced with little ice, oat milk) - delightfully sweet and refreshing. It was not too sweet and has light floral tones. Service was very friendly and quick. They have free WiFi and phone booths (for members to take calls) for those who want to work/study there. There is a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating although it's not an overly large space. I loved that they had a community puzzle, but wished they had more than one bathroom. I ordered the Jasmine Zest Iced Latte (signature drink from their summer menu), Brazilian Cheese Bread (3 for $4.50), and Honey Goat Toast. Everything was delicious and flavorful! Items came out as they got prepared - cheese bread (at checkout), latte, then toast (estimated wait of 5 minutes). I lucked out with the cheese bread. The customer in front of me got the rest of the last batch and I got everything of the new batch that came piping hot out of the oven! The texture was different from other cheese breads where it was a thin bread exterior and a mochi-like cheese filling. I appreciated actually being able to taste the jasmine and lemon in the latte as well as the lavender on the toast. I wouldn't mind coming back to try more items on their menu. I wouldn't mind coming definitely reorder the cheese bread!

Music was playing but it wasn't too loud. Stayed for a couple of hours. There was plenty of foot traffic but not enough to be disruptive. There was one restroom, which was clean. The baristas were pleasant as they helped other customers. I was going to order seltzer water, but they had it on tap (along with plain water) so it was free. I also ordered an iced tea to support the establishment. It was refreshing and I didn't even add anything to make it sweet. I would return here to work if I needed to, especially because I like the area (even though parking is mostly paid street spots), but plan on continuing my quest for the perfect coffee shop/remote work vibe.

It was upsetting because I paid for an extra shot of espresso but nothing about that drink tasted right. I couldn't taste the banana either . I also got a feta pastry and that coated $9.20 and that was just ridiculous . When I ate it, it was literally a block of feta in the pastry making it hard to eat because it was extremely salty. I was impressed with the amount of filling it had because it's rare to fine a filled pastry nowadays but unfortunately for this pastry I had to throw majority of the filling because the salt was overpowering. So for paying about $20 was not worth the cost. The space was cute and service was great but I wouldn't come here and pay so much money.
