I was at a business meeting at the hotel next door, so I popped into this cafe for some early morning caffeine. I ordered the Freddo Cappuccino and a cool slice of chocolate cake- their cake of the day! The cafe is somewhat comfortable and I think there are enough tables for about ten customers. There is a barstool section and also an elevated dining room area which is rather small. Interestingly, they also have a wheelchair lift for people with disabilities to get to that level and also the entrance door to the hotel. That being said, it seems like this cafe services a lot of people who stay at the hotel. The cake was delicious and Freddo Cappuccino was even better. Sooo, I've been going to this cafe for a little while and it was such a treat to try something new. I like the concept. Typically, has plenty of pastry options and they all look delicious. They also have brunch and lunch style options which is great if you plan to stay awhile. However, the drinks are lazily made with an automated system that will scorch your drink if you are not well-versed as a barista. For an almost $10 drink (once you add the milk and syrup), it's starting to be more apparent that they are just trying to make a quick drink versus a good drink. The location is situated conveniently right across from the metro and in the midst of busy office buildings. Searched for a shop that offers Matcha tea and came across For Five Coffee. It's was a 10 min walk from my hotel so I decided to sit and eat while I'll cooled down from the summer heat. When I walked in there was no real order to the line so I asked if anyone needed to order. Once I made my way to the front of the 4 person line the gentleman who took my order I felt wasn't very friendly to me but I ignored it and placed an order for a ice blueberry matcha and egg croissant sandwich. I found this place back in 2021 and finally returned in 2024; this Alexandria location. It's so crazy because I live in New York and have YET to go to a For Five in the city. The place is actually a pretty good size. Although it has its own entrance from the street, it's located inside of a corporate building. So I imagine that it gets busy. There is plenty of room to sit and lounge inside and a few outside for when the weather is nicer. One thing that hasn't changed about this place is the efficiency of the baristas. They work quickly. I got my latte immediately after ordering it. I would say roughly 2 minutes. I keep my latte simple with almond milk. It's always a great choice. The coffee always tastes good for me. I have yet to be disappointed. I did not get a pastry this time. But I do remember that in 2021, I got an almond croissant and I enjoyed it. They had cake slices available but I just wasn't feeling any of them. They were coconut and lemon. Hopefully, it won't take me 3 years to get into a For Five... I have frequented For Five Coffee too many times to count! My go-to is their lattes with an orange peel! There are several speciality drinks to try, but once I find something I love, I am on repeat! They seem to make it perfect each and every order. Admittedly, I will order 2 for myself and am not ashamed!! :-) I find the customer service to be A-OK without any issues ever. They do offer food options which appears appetizing, but I have yet to try anything (that's on my to-do list). The shop is clean with your occasional bits of sugar or cream left behind by customers. Coffee was really good. The iced mocha actually had four shots of espresso in it. Rich flavor, not sweetened. They have a really cool brewing setup across the bar. Came in for a latte. It was $7.50 for a small latte. The place was empty except I think she was the baristas girlfriend, standing at the end of the bar. He made it after talking to her for a few minutes. Put my drink in the middle of the eat at bar, next to the girl, never motioned to me on the other side of the store or anything, just placed it an arms distance from himself. I've always gotten good pastries here. Desperate times, rough meetings, bad news, stress, I can stop by For Five and get coffee and a pastry and I know it's always going to be great. Why the 3 stars? Because $15 for coffee and a pastry is completely overpriced for the location. $23 for a "bowl" for lunch is $8 overpriced. It's painfully obvious that while I pick up coffee and a well-made croissant, I'm paying for the landlord overcharging on their rent. Since they first opened, I've seen myself go from once a week to once a month- and if they don't fix their pricing, at some point, I'll never come back. I was nearby and wanted to find some fun coffee shops that I hadn't been to before and that wasn't Starbucks. This place popped up, and I was fascinated by the photos. Location wise, it's directly across the street from King Street metro station, underneath a Carr workspaces building. This is probably super convenient for people using the metro or working in nearby buildings. This is a pain for people driving and needing to find a parking spot, even on a Sunday. I ordered the Louie, and two of their stuffed cookies for myself and my daughter because they looked awesome. I think my smores cookie was really good, better even than my daughter's rainbow cookie despite hers just looking the coolest. My drink wasn't bad. I ordered the gotham mocha to go for my hubby and snuck a sip; I think it was better than the Louie personally. I saw the menu prices online and did quirk my eyebrow a little about how expensive their food options were, and didn't completely believe it until I saw the prices in person. That being said, when they came out of the kitchen with those dishes, I have to admit they looked super fancy. I had wanted to get a half dozen cookies, but it would've totaled to $33.... bit much. Came here off a recommendation so we figured we'd hit the place for breakfast. Didn't see an online ordering/pickup option on their site until after so we opted to order in store. Street parking was tough to find nearby in addition to spots being covered by by snow. The place was kind of busy and there was a little bit of a line. It's possible they were short staffed because I noticed only 2 people up front and someone in the back making food. They still did a great job though. We ordered the 24 hour oatmeal (was in the fridge area), the Starry Night Açaí, a matcha latte w/oat milk, the Gotham mocha, and a chocolate chip cookie. Was pricier than a typical breakfast so keep that in mind. Didn't take too long to get our stuff. The oatmeal tasted real good and had a lot of great toppings. The matcha latte was good according to my girlfriend. Mocha was decent no complaints. The cookie was very good, especially after microwaving. Very gooey and had nice crispy edges. From the music to the decor to the coffee - EVERYTHING . I'm pretty much obsessed with this place and wish I lived closer. I came to check this place out while I was on the way to a pumpkin patch, and I was so glad I did! The moment I walked in, I had my phone out taking pictures, the place is dope!
