A great place to get whatever kind of soft serve you like. Big portions and good prices. This is where everyone should go when McDonald's stupid ice cream machine is down (because it always is). It's also kept up well and easy to find. My ice cream was in danger of melting so I couldn't get a photo, but they do have their own flurries or blizzards, which was very good. Cone sizes are very generous as well. Social distance markers and masks worn by employees

Wonderful ice cream experience. Got a banana split flurry and birthday cake scoops, combined they cost around $11. Staff was patient as we decided what we wanted and the ice cream came out quick.

What little town doesn't have an ice cream shop! Swirls Ice Cream is the place when in the Newport area. It's located just off of 75 and Swan Creek. With plenty of parking as well as a drive through, they make it pretty convenient. Swirls scoops up some delicious treats. They offer soft/hard serve, smoothies, malts and much more. They really have low prices for what you get. Servings are very generous from this place. Warm sunny days are few and far between when you're in Michigan. When it happens, head to Swirls for a great way to treat yourself in the summer.

I can't help but compare Swirls to Ice Cream Time. When Swirls first opened, I really wasn't a fan--it was expensive for what you got, and nothing really blew my mind. I like the ice cream itself at Ice Cream Time much better, and I think Ice Cream Time is more generous with their toppings/mix-ins. My biggest complain with Swirls is that they are kind of stingy with the toppings/mix-ins. When I ordered a peanut butter sundae, it was literally just vanilla ice cream with a tasteless peanut butter sauce over the top. My son and I were both disappointed. The only thing I've ordered here that I *really* loved was the Snickers Parfait--it had lots of caramel, hot fudge, and Snickers!

Great local shop that is very well kept. Plenty of seating makes for a perfect spot after a long day of sports activities or a day trip.

Calder Dairy's products are absolutely the best. As a 75 year old connoisseur of chocolate milk, I…read morecan say quite confidently that Calder's chocolate is #1 hands down. Nobody comes close to its richness. My friend and I recently visited Calder Dairy Farm. Our goal was to pet cows and eat ice cream, an annual summer tradition. Since my last visit, they've enlarged the grounds making it more inviting to families and school groups, which as a former teacher, I appreciate. Besides cows, there are plenty of chickens, pigs, ducks, peacocks, goat, and geese to see. It was fun to watch a group of ducks circling around the grounds looking like they were on a mission. Everyone seemed to enjoy the parade. The farm's store is stocked with fresh Calder products, including ice cream, which you can buy in a carton or order in cones. Off to the side of the store, there is a large dining room, which can accommodate small and large groups. I highly recommend all of the Calder products and hope you have the opportunity to visit the farm.

It was a little chilly when we went, but the kids got to see all the animals. My son loved the geese and ducks and couldn't get enough of them. I bought some food from the store to feed the goats and ducks and all the kids loved it. The food conveyor belt was a lot of fun because the goats waited on the platform for it to dump out. One goat even got the food dumped all over his head! It was awesome to see the longhorns up close - although it was quite intimidating too. The store had a great variety and there were plenty of ice cream flavors to sample and choose from. Nice outing for the family.

The owner was just getting in her car. Not realizing it was closed, I hopped out with my eager pup & child. It's the little acts like these ones that show how small businesses matter in our town. If I would've pulled into Sonic, they would've let me sit there with not even acknowledging me! That's all I needed was to find more amazing ice cream in Michigan that I can't take home with me. I'm also never in Ann Arbor so that doesn't help I tried fresh basil ice cream. It was drizzled with lemon olive oil. The most amazing and unique flavors. They have butterfly moon, not blue moon. While blue moon tastes like fruity pebbles, butterfly moon tastes exactly like froot loops and is even the color the milk turns when you have a bowl. Service was friendly and didn't mind us trying lots of samples. How can you not when they're all so amazing and unique !!

I also got the double dark chocolate, which was decent but a little more lackluster than I expected. They have a huge variety of flavors though and it definitely feels like the kind of place you need to come back to multiple times to really explore the menu. Every time I walk by there's basically a line around the block, so clearly people love it. Thankfully when I actually went, the service moved pretty quickly. Definitely somewhere I'd come back to try more flavors.
