You'd be remiss to overlook the Swiss Farm Inn in any visit to the Pittsfield area. "World's Best Breakfast" is difficult to live up to, but the Swiss Farm Inn genuinely serves delicious breakfast. I would definitely say it's one of the best breakfast spots in Vermont. The Swiss Farm Inn is homey. The interior is has a rustic and antique feel to it but not in a contrived way. I loved the old radios, couches, bookshelf, fireplace, and family-style dining tables. All of the tables are set with a coffee mug, juice cup, and great condiments like Sriracha ketchup, cabot butter, and other quality items. The unlimited coffee and orange juice is definitely a great part of the meal. There's great wifi in the dining room too. You can't go wrong with any of the specials on the board! The price for the experience you get at Swiss Farm Inn is well worth it. I ordered the broccoli and cheddar omelette and a side of a buttermilk pancake. I've never had a broccoli and cheddar omelette before, but it was a last minute pick after I couldn't make a decision amidst all of the delicious options. The broccoli in the omelette was still crispy and it tasted like I was eating a cup of broccoli and cheddar soup without the cream or salt in the best possible way. The pancake was super fluffy and decadent but not too overbearing. The bacon was some of the best I ever had. It was the perfect thickness and wasn't too crispy. The bacon had a smokey bite to it. Eating the flapjack with bacon, butter, and maple syrup was amazing. The best part is that even though I was really full from the meal, I didn't feel groggy after but ready to conquer the day! The hours are definitely difficult but it's well-worth to find a time when you can visit. read more

My husband was excited to come back here and I was eager to see why he loved the place so much. This place was great for the breakfast! A true home style feel and food! You also receive more food than you can imagine. All of it cooked in a regular kitchen by one or two woman. It was tasty. I had a special, egg scramble. It came through home fries, toast, bacon and a mini muffin. Oh an did I mention unlimited coffee, OJ, tea and water? I'd def come back every time we are in the area. The menu had a lot to offer and the service was very quick. I liked how it was clearly a family business and it felt very cozy. I got the lumberjack sandwich (egg, bacon, and cheese on a Kaiser roll) and a side of blueberry pancakes. The sandwich also came with a side of bacon and home fries. Super homey b&b. We stopped by for breakfast before boarding and it was a bad idea-we were all so full that we had food coma! We helped ourselves to unlimited coffee and oj in our adorable mugs after we placed our orders. I had one of the specials for the day, some kind of loaded omelette with spinach, ham, peppers, etc, with a side of hash. The plates also came with toast and a small, slightly sweet muffin. Very wholesome and our orders came out quick. Everyone agreed that it was a great breakfast! We split the bill and it only came out to $10 each. So worth it! The Inn was good. Rooms are standard and had a fan. The shower could have been better because the head pointed at my shoulders and could go no lower. Free Wi-Fi is amazing since there is barely network in the area. Breakfast was great. Very homey and good portions. The omelet was less omelet and more eggs with vegetables. Stayed here for three nights a few weeks ago while visiting relatives in VT. It's a large old fashioned B&B. Rooms are on the small side and contains just the most utilitarian furnishings, but are very clean and all have private bathrooms (also tiny). Bring your own shampoo/conditioner and hair dryer. There's a large common room on the ground floor that features tons of books, games and a TV. What is billed as "Vermont's best breakfast" is served each morning from 6AM to 10AM, and is included in the price of your room. There is always a omelet or pancake/french toast special, along with the usual breakfast suspects. I found the breakfasts to be pretty ordinary, albeit huge. For $60/night for a double room it's definitely worth the price. read more

This place is just a bit north of pittsfield on Rte 100 as you head out of town. the sign touts 'serving the world's best breakfast'. after driving by so many times, david and i gave in and decided to see if they were telling the truth. before i discuss the food however i want to set the atmosphere - the place is a B&B so when you go in, you enter their house. as you go to the right, you actually enter their living room with a large open area before it that have a number of different size tables. these tables are pre-set with coffee mugs of vaious size and shape. it is a delightful sight. very homey and inviting. you are greeted by one of the owners who will come and take your order and then go in back and cook it for you. i had eggs over easy with whole wheat toast and bacon (not too hard to do this one right) and david had homemade pancakes. he quite enjoyed his and mine were done to perfection. but it was the extras that i liked. they included some fresh baked mini muffins and a slice of fresh fruit. it was all very sweet and lovely. oh. and cheap. less than $10 for the 2 of us. read more

Just about anything you choose for breakfast includes juice, coffee (both serve yourself), bacon, toast, home fries, bacon and a muffin. All at prices that would get you an egg sandwich with bacon elsewhere. The omelettes and berry pancakes we ordered were cooked to our liking. The bacon was excellent, home fries were just OK and the muffin was useless. I would rather they ditched the muffin and spent more time on better home fries. Sometimes less can be more. The juice was not fresh squeezed, but you can't expect that at these prices, nor with free refills. It was fine. When busy, seating is family style. Service was efficient, and overall it is a very good breakfast for the price. read more

On our way from Rochester to Killington we happened upon a sign that said "Best Breakfast in the World" at The Swiss Farm Inn. So of course, we had to stop in. As soon as we walked through the door we could feel the hospitality, "Hey there! Good morning! How are you today?" As New Yorkers, we don't get much of this at home so we already knew this place was going to be special. Big tables filled the dining room and everyone sits family style whether you know each other not, in true B&B style. All you can drink coffee, OJ, and water at a charming serve yourself table was just the beginning of the experience. Our server was wonderful, super friendly and kind. They have specials listed on a chalk board in addition to their very extensive breakfast menu. We ordered and settled in expecting our food to take a while since they were so busy but less than 10 minutes later we had hot delicious food in front of us and we couldn't have been happier! Their basic breakfast is only $6.50 with the coffee and juice included. WHAT!! Everyone was super welcoming and the food was great and if we are ever back in the area we will definitely be visiting this place again. We even tired to go back the next day (Monday) but they only do service on the weekends I believe. Either way, a must stop! read more

We went on Sunday on Labor Day weekend. We had a 20 minute wait. But it was worth it. The staff was cooking like crazy. The kitchen is visible when you walk in. There are comfy chairs all over for waiting. The staff was very friendly. We were seated on one end of a larger table that also had another couple. Serve your own coffee was great, as there seemed to be only one waitress running around taking orders. We got the scramble special and the corned beef hash. Both meals were excellent and HUGE. They come with a slice of really good toast, a mini blueberry muffin, perfectly crisped bacon and wonderfully seasoned home fried. We literally were full for the rest of the day. The eggs were amazing, fluffy and fresh. Perfect breakfast. Hope to come again on a less crowded day. read more

As we were greeted by the friendly and funny owner who seated us and directed us to help yourself coffee, OJ and water, I thought "could this really be the best breakfast in the world" like the sign says? I do believe it was! The atmosphere was cozy and warm, but the food was what is getting us back there two days later! Every dish comes with bacon, potatoes and then an added treat of a little muffin and every bite was mouth watering. The icing on the cake or would that be the syrup on the pancakes is the price. Very reasonable. Try it, but make sure you are there by 10 AM during the week and 11 on weekend. read more

The owners were fantastic and food was very good but the price tag of $120.00 per night was very high considering the room was just utility not comfort. Bring your own toiletries, no TV in rooms, very hard stiff mattress. On the good side the room was absolutely clean as can be. read more

I have been going here for years and even though it is 35 minutes away the trip is well worth it. When my family and friends come up to Vermont to visit they all say that the first thing they want to do is go to Swiss Farm. It is "The Worlds Best Breakfast" and has become a family favorite. I love going out to breakfast and after traveling all over the world I can attest that I have not found anything better. The Strawberry Rhubarb stuffed French toast is to die for. Like most good inns it is so nice to be able to just get up and help yourself to coffee and orange juice like you were in your own house. Yoneko the waitress is super friendly and efficient. Joyce and Roger the owners could not be nicer and one of them is usually doing the cooking. The menu is extensive with lots of options but the Specials on the chalk board are all you really need to look at. Don't pass up on the home made Hash. My only complaint is that they are only open Thursday - Sunday mornings. read more
