Nothing fancy; burgers & hot sandwiches. But after a particularly tiring day of hiking, that sounded perfect. The burger was very flavorful, juicy, and satisfying, and the fries has a great seasoning. They've squeezed as many tables into this fairly small room as possible, so between that and the quick service, it's an energetic place, not somewhere to linger over a casual cocktail...for that, get one to go (or a can of beer downstairs) and find a quiet nook elsewhere in the lodge. read more

Had lunch in the Swiss lounge, which serves the same food as the main white table clothed dining room. Arugula salad with chicken, bison burger and yummy cheesecake with huckleberry topping (so good we came back the next day and had it again). Everything was delicious. Good service. They have cute little booth seats in the restaurant, a bit squeezed and the seats are very low - if you are there with backpacks there is literally no where to stow them. Good atmosphere, much more casual so you don't feel out of place trudging in there after hiking all day in the rain. Lunch time can get quite crowded but the are pretty efficient getting the line moving and everyone seated. read more

This is pretty much the only choice except the fancy one next door to Swiss Lounge. They're only option a few months of the year. So customer service is not a priority. We are a family of 5 - they had no option for us to sit together - couldn't put 1 seat at the end of the table and couldn't put 2 tables together. And could not get our food to go. So we had to sit apart. The food was OK. I'm just not at all impressed with their service. They know you have no other options and will be leaving tomorrow! read more

This is a smaller dining space/bar adjacent to the big dining hall (Ptarmigan) at many glacier hotel. The menues are identical and it's the same kitchen. views are much bigger at Ptarmigan but so is the line--1.5 hours when we showed up at 7pm! We were seated at the Swiss lounge in 3 minutes. Our waitress (Faith) was super nice, helpful, efficient and seems to love her job. We fell in love with one cocktail--huckleberry smash. We shared brussel sprouts, arugula salad and short ribs. all were excellent. My son loved the chicken and ended up getting it the next night at ptarmigan. First, it's a little confusing where this restaurant actually is. It's located in the Many Glacier hotel, on the north end of the building. It's adjacent to the Ptarmigan Dining Room. There's usually a line for the Ptarmigan Dining Room which snakes past the entry to the Swiss Lounge. Bypass the line and go directly into the Swiss Lounge for space-available seating. Menu is a slimmed down version of what you can find in Ptarmigan Dining Room. Bison Chili Burger was decent - bison patty wasn't dry, which is unusual for bison. Chili was just okay. Didn't really detect any hint of jalapenos. But overall, a real average burger. Grilled Chicken Club was pretty average as well. Nothing to note, either good or bad. Sausage sampler was a little sad: slices of uninteresting meat, plus random pickles and bread. Price was a little high for what you get, but it's expected with the limited options in the area. Service was slow. Took about 30 minutes after ordering to get our food. App was served with the main course, which was a little weird. read more

1. How do you compete with a next door restaurant with a world class view of the deep blue alpine lake, surrounded by forests, with majestic soaring mountains, glaciers and snow in the background? By having the only television for 20 miles around! 2. Swiss Lounge, formerly Interlaken Lounge, is the bridesmaid restaurant to the Ptarmigan at the historic classic Many Glaciers Hotel in Glacier National Park. 3. There are not too many places to eat in this area, some 20 miles from the main section of park on St Marys on the Going to the Sun road. 4. There is a pizza joint and small restaurant at Swiftcurrent motor inn, 2 miles down the road. Parking can be difficult in the park, and I'm not about to surrender my spot for pizza! 5. The Ptarmigan is open only 630am-10am, 1130am-2pm, and 530pm-930pm. Come any other time, and you are out of luck, and have to settle for Swiss Lounge, open 10am-11pm. 6. Lines can be long at the Ptarmigan, which doesn't take advance reservations. If you have only 2 people, the Swiss Lounge can be your go to spot. 7. Swiss Lounge has only 14 tables, 11 tables for 2 people, 2 tables for 4 people, and 1 table for 6 people. So if you have more than 2 people, you can be in for a long wait! 8. Nonsocial nerds and sports fanatics sit at the bar, in front of the flat screen TV, watching the latest on ESPN, or football. You expected the cooking channel!? 9. For those unfortunate to be sitting out of view of the TV, you can check out the handicapped parking, and truck unloading area in front of the hotel through the screened windows. 10. Swiss Lounge uses the same kitchen as the Ptarmigan, but slightly different menus. This restaurant is mainly a soup, salad and sandwich-burger restaurant. 11. One of my favorites here is the $14 Farmers mixed salad, with mixed greens, olives, onions, diced tomatoes, blue cheese, rye croutons, green beans, sliced egg, and bacon smothered in your choice of dressing. 12. The serving size is huge, so huge that my wife and I split a plate, with the blue cheese and croutons dropped, and the tomatoes, onions, olives and dressing on the side. The order was messed up with the yucky blue cheese saturated on the lettuce. The wife got the tomatoes and olives, while I got the raw onions. Not a hot date, so no problems with bad breath! 13. A local favorite is the Huckleberry cream soda. One time they ran out of the locally bottled soda, and asked if I wanted a sprite with Huckleberry syrup. Sure, why not. Tasted good, and free refills for the sprite. Tasted like tart blueberries. 14. Another dish that I liked was the sausage sampler, with three types of sausage, bread, and a vegetable, along with mustard on the side. I liked the spicy jalapeno laced sausage the best, as did the wife. No French kissing afterwards with that breath! 15. And yes, they do have the $12 1/3 lb Glacier hamburger with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickle, just like in the Ptarmigan. 16. The more expensive meat and fish dishes at the Ptarmigan are not on the menu at the Swiss Lounge, and they can't order it for you, on crowded nights, due to short supply, so they say. Yeah sure! Got to save if for the Ptarmigan folks! 17. Finally there is the delicious dessert with the apple cobbler covered by Huckleberry ice cream! 18. Tables are very close together, so I can show off my womens light blue strap Chako sandals. Very noisy when full. 19. Place closes at 11pm - I know because I can hear the rowdy drunks wandering down the main hallway at that time from my room 137 on the corridor! read more

Located right next to Swiftcurrent Lake with beautiful views from the restaurant. My family and I decided to stop by for dinner after a long day of hiking the Grinnell Glacier trail. For a restaurant in the national park, the quality and taste of the food was overall pretty solid and we were given decent-sized portions! They also gave us a complementary basket of dinner rolls and delicious butter to go with it. We then ordered the following: Rainbow trout (4/5): The flavors on the trout were decent, even though the fish was slightly over cooked. The pilaf and side of cauliflower were yummy and buttery! Bison Braised Short Rib (4.5/5): The ribs were cooked perfectly, super tender and flavorful. Cavatappi with Mushroom (3/5): This was our least favorite dish that we ordered. Horrible!! Worse food ever. I got the chicken sandwich and it looked like a piece of rubber...AND it only covered half the bun it was such a small piece of meat. Service horrible. Way overpriced!!! Loud!! I would of complained to a manager but after waiting for close to an hour for food and a dogfight/brawl in the hallway I just wanted to get the heck out of there. We ate at several restaurants in the park and had all positive expedites...but stay away from this place!! read more

This restaurant has a nice atmosphere, being one of the only places to get a real, sit-down meal up in Many Glacier, and we enjoyed that aspect...but the food was just ok. Unfortunately, the food that came to the table didn't exactly meet the description that was on the menu. My husband and I both received sandwiches that were served on poor quality white buns, when the menu said they would be served on 'multi-grain.' Additionally, my lentil burger arrived with fries when it said it would come with an organic salad. The server did rectify the salad issue quickly (not his fault) and he was very attentive to our table. Bottom line, this isn't the place to go for exquisite cuisine, but if you're looking for a 'good-enough' meal while in Many Glacier, this restaurant is fine. read more

our first meal at many glacier at the swiss lounge was a surprise. after having tolerated mediocre food at lake mcdonald. we each ordered the cheddar jalapeno bison sausage - and found it tasty and quite delicious; the pretzel bun a very nice touch along with the real mustard. the german style slaw was very good, as was hubby's fries (same as at other xanterra food places). service was quick and friendly. read more
