If you like rude and crappy service, disease-infested smelly bathrooms (apparently the food is good, but when you see the bathrooms you can only imagine what the kitchen looks like), dirty smelling hipsters that haven't showered recently, and a good draft beer selection, The Bierstube is for you. We've been coming to Whitefish for years and usually stop into "The Stube" for a beer or two (namely because our friends like it; still trying to figure that one out, but to each their own), so we stopped by again this trip... In usual fashion, we got the same %hitty service (this time from the wanna-be hipster chick, who was as friendly as a rock, whilst giving everyone attitude). Unless you're a local/regular, a ski patroller, a hipster, or wear patchouli oil instead of deodorant, expect to be talked to like your morning dookie and treated like ill repute (from the staff). Do yourself a favor and walk the 400M up to Hellroaring Saloon, where you will not be pissed off or disappointed when you leave... The Bierstube = Dave Portnoy 3.1 (at best).

Really enjoy this place when taking a break from snowboarding. Lots of drinks but the best is the cheesesticks. Excited to visit again in a few months

Nice place next to Edelweiss....big screen tv to watch sports, pool tables, bar - typical hang out for after skiing....

    Classic Montana dive.

I start with 3 stars. Add 1 for Charlie, a great bartender. Add 2 for having a veggie burger on the menu. Add 2 for being a classic dive beer bar. Minus 3 stars for closing too early in the day during summer. Minus 1 for not figuring out a way to get the mountain bikers in. Run a special or something Bierstube! For a change, I'm reviewing the 'Stube from the summer point of view. It's a quiet place in the summer. Tourists looking to quench their thirst are the typical customer, but once in a while the mountain bikers come in for a beer or a burger. When I used to eat meat, I remember their burgers being pretty good, but nothing to go crazy about. But they've added a veggie patty, and it's good! The french fries are straight forward, from frozen I'm sure. Hey I'm just glad I can get a good Vedge option when I'm hungry, so Bonus! And they aren't prejudiced against shaved heads, yay!

This is the place to be at the end of your day on the Big Mountain. The wings are fantastic and Charlie behind the bar WILL more than likely remember your name if you have introduced yourself to him before. I go down there twice a year and he gets it right every time. The beer and fireball are cold and the wings are great. What more do you need after a phenomenal day on the slopes? Whether you board or ski all are welcome and thirsts will be quenched. Oh and if you are a 1st timer......don't forget to ask for your ceremonial ring. Cheers.

It's hit or miss whether they decide to be open. We went twice during normal hours and they were closed due to "weather."

We were seated within five minutes in a room with a view of the street. It was raining outside, and it felt nice and cozy inside the restaurant. Our server was very friendly and checked in on how we were doing regularly. We ordered the Tot-chos (half order to share among six people) and I also got a huckleberry soda for myself as well as the bison (classic) burger with sweet potato fries. For dessert, we shared two scoops of huckleberry ice cream (from Sweet Peaks), the bread pudding and the beignets. I loved the Tot-chos, and the half order was honestly a pretty big size already! The huckleberry soda was pretty sweet (I think it had 41 grams of sugar), but I don't regret trying it. The bison burger wasn't bad, it definitely tasted similar to beef, but it was a huge burger so I couldn't finish it. The sweet potatoes were also delicious. In terms of the dessert, I had gone to Sweet Peaks already and liked their huckleberry flavor a lot, so I was excited to see them on the menu. People at my table loved the bread pudding. I thought the beignets were not bad, but they weren't as good as the other desserts.

Cooked smashed style, they had nice crispy edges. Watermelon was fresh and juicy. Fries were crispy. Great dinner. While the food is good, the music was even better. It was a solo guitarist who sang classic country. He was great. Many were sending up tips with a request and he did a great job of being able to handle most requests. Curry chicken salad pita - it was okay but lacked depth. Definitely overpriced for what you get. Sweet potato fries were definitely worth the upgrade however! Regular fries had an odd aftertaste. Just get the sweet potato upgrade. Caesar and burger I heard were good. The best thing this place has going for it imo is their homemade ranch dressing! Wow very good. Fresh and tasty, everything ranch should be. Tbh very disappointed with this place. It was overly packed with people, had poor signage that YOU HAVE TO ORDER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RESTAURANT - THEY WILL NOT COME TO YOUR SEAT! Our "waiter" gave us water and cleaned the table but never told us this so we waited 20 min and would have waited another hour if we didn't figure it out. AND you have to order drinks at a separate place outside. My biggest gripe food wise is that the Mac and Cheese looked REALLY good but they don't offer it other than as an entrée. Poor move imo as a restaurant move! Servers were very rude as well. It is cool they have outside live music I must say and the ambiance is cool. Conversely, I do have to say my wife thought this was her favorite food so far in MT for what that's worth. In the future, I'd rather head across the street to North Fork Pizza than risk going back here. The pizza smelled diviiiiine from outside!
