Glacier National Park area is phenomenal. It's no wonder that there are few places to eat out. So glad this unassuming little pizza joint is open for visitors. I was glad a fellow Yelper mentioned this place was next to the Exxon... definitely helped since there are a couple other bars nearby. The first night (yes, went here two nights in a row!) had salad and small pizza and my ds had wings. Second night they were slammed and decided to only serve pizza. The service was adequate... they brought us the food and drinks ordered. The pizzas are really good and hand made... we spoke with the woman who throws each pie dough by hand. Both pizzas over two nights were delicious. My salad was pretty good too since it was nice leafy greens lettuce (not iceberg). There are a couple of tvs showing the main sports of the day... in our case we watched a bit of FIFA football (soccer). We were visiting Glacier National Park and wanted to try to find locally owned and operated places, rather than the big concessionaires. If you feel similar, visiting Rising Sun Pizza! The restaurant stays busy -- there was a bit of a wait, but this is a busy national park, and anywhere you go at rush is going to have a wait. The servers were fantastic, and all helped each other out. The pizza was amazing. The dough is home-made every morning, and is neither too thin nor too thick. We got a half cheese, half ground beef 12" and it fed two hungry adults. I only wish we had tried this place before our last day! This was a tough one. Service was rough. Ordered wings, half were decent, the other half supposed to be mild buffalo, ended up being some barbecue derivative. The blue cheese for the wings, was a few crumbles of blue cheese in Ranch dressing. Really odd. I ordered a soda and a can was push at me unopened. Went to this pizza place after visiting Glacier NP. The wait for the pizza was an hour long, which made sense because they were very busy. We opted for the wings and the chicken salad. I was disappointed in the food as the wings tasted like they were not made in house and only warmed up and put sauce over them. I felt as if I could have made that at home. The chicken pieces were very tiny in the salad. I'm not sure if they ran out of chicken but they brought over some other chicken to add to the salad that looking like a sad chicken tender. I would probably not go back for the food. There were 3 outdoor tables we could sit at with our dog. As for service: The woman at the counter was not friendly, so I was disappointed in the service. One of the girls who brought over the food was nice, but then we felt awkward with the other waitress who was chatting with the group sitting at the table next to us. The service here left much to be desired. First of all, two waters were finished within about 20 minutes of us being here. We were not checked on or given any more water until we left an hour and a half later. It was packed full of people, and took almost an hour for our 3 pizzas to arrive. The pizzas were alright, and when we inquired about when they would be out, our waitress (who we had to walk up to because she never came to our table) angrily said "it will come out when it's ready." I stopped by Rising sun pizza after a long day of hiking around the area. The restaurant was about half full when my partner and I showed up at 7pm on a Sunday. The waitress by the counter was very friendly and told us that we could sit anywhere and she brought us our menus as soon as we found our seats. Since we were pretty hungry, we got the white wolf pizza, a full order of wings, and a huckleberry cream soda. We opted for two different sauces on the wings: Stinging Garlic and Honey Hot. It took a while for us to get our food and I had finished about half of my soda while I was eagerly waiting. However once the food came out, I could tell everything had been made fresh. The white wolf pizza was really good and I loved the white sauce in it. I liked the honey hot wings over the stinging garlic. There was a nice balance between the spicy and sweet flavors. Overall, it was a really solid meal and would recommend stopping by if you're in the area. read more

Not sure what pizza others got that are shown in the pictures but it's not what we got. Granted it was very busy so perhaps the cooks were overwhelmed but our 1/2 Bbq chicken/ 1/2 works pizza hardly had any toppings on it and the crust was mediocre. I did think the sauce on my bbq chicken was pretty good but that's where good ended. It was a very pricey pizza for what we got. Service was decent considering the crowd. After a long drive and some hiking in Two Medicine, we stopped in here in St Mary, MT to get some much needed food. They were slammed! We were sat and the two waitresses were running all over the place. Super nice, just busy as there are not a lot of options to eat on the East side of GNP. It seems like Rising Sun Pizza is the only game in town when it comes to dining in St. Mary's, which ends up being just fine because it's a good game. The cheesy breadsticks are epic, a meal in themselves, even if you don't get additional toppings on them (which we didn't get but which they offer). For our pizza, we ordered a half-pepperoni / half-mushroom and Redneck sausage. I was intrigued by a sausage by this name, hence the order. Redneck sausage is a little spicy with notes of cloves and possibly cinnamon. It blended just fine with the mushroom, making for a lovey dinner. Bonus points: we over-ordered and leftovers were great for breakfast. Our first impression of this establishment was so good we went back our second night to get more. Obviously cheesy breadsticks, and we also dipped a bit more into their local beer selection (which is small but sufficient). It's a good spot on the East side of Glacier. Pickings are slim on this side of the park for restaurants, but we had a solid experience here. We arrived around 5:15 PM and the place was already full. Fortunately, we had a short wait for a table. Seemed like a good selection of beers, and they had an excellent local IPA from Tumbleweed ($5) on tap. My bride built her own pizza with chicken, tomato and spinach. She said it was perfectly baked and she loved it! I went with the Supreme Summit ($22) and it was fine. Take care in preparation; raise the dough slowly; add high quality, fresh toppings; bake in a super-hot oven. Rising Sun Pizza does none of those things. Pizzas are thin. No, not thin crust Napolitano pizza; just thin, greasy pizza-like incarnations that drop into your stomach like lead balloons. There are better frozen pizzas in the freezer aisle in your local super market. If it were not for the fact that Rising Sun Pizza is the _only_ pizza place in St. Mary, this establishment would go out of business. We drove over, and they told us they don't look at that queue if they're busy. No indication on their page that they're ignoring this method. Great pizza and wings and just what this family needed after a day of hiking and driving back "home" from a west side visit. It was busy and we waited almost the exact quoted wait time but it was worth it! It's not a huge place but there is a good beer selection, thinner crust pizza with fresh ingredients and the wings were pretty on point. There's a small deck outside that in better weather probably would have cut down on the wait time significantly. There was a sign on the door indicating no carry outs that night which made me feel like they manage their kitchen quite well and know their limitations. read more
