Small Twist Waffle Cone and Banana Peanut Butter Graham
Jack R.

Delicious, friendly, cheap and quick. What more could you want? This is by far one of if not the best ice cream spot I've had in Pittsburgh all things considered. The portions are large for the prices and the ice cream is so smooth, I had a hard time stopping to breathe. Old-school decor is a blast from the past and you can see right inside the windows as the staff makes the delicious treats. I'd imagine they've been open for a long time and I can absolutely see why.

Thanks for another sweet summer, Dari Delite! I appreciate having a reasonably priced, vegan-friendly ice cream vendor in the neighborhood. My last treat of the season was a medium strawberry sundae with soy vanilla ice cream. It was more toppings than ice cream, but still hit the spot. See you next spring!

Swissvale Dari Delite is just that-- a delight. The food is very reasonably priced (and delicious), the staff are all friendly, and the wait is never too long. It is the perfect spot to hit up on a sunny day. I know I'll be back!

A perfect little neighborhood ice cream stand--nostalgic in the best way, but with way more variety than you'd expect. Prices are fair, portions are generous, and the service is always sweet. They've got all the classics, plus tons of customizable options, specialty sundaes like the "Donut Delite," and even some food choices too. There are non-dairy options, including sorbet and soy/no sugar ice cream--which is the inclusivity you'd hope to see in 2025, and pup cups for the doggos. Bonus: they take cards and Apple Pay, so no cash-only panic at the window. Easily one of the best little summer spots in the area.

The best staff! So polite and accommodating. Love the neighborhood feel, plenty of seating to sit and enjoy your sweet street. Parking is very accessible as well! I am never disappointed with my treat! I have enjoyed the sundae, and the vanilla milk shake! Although, the strawberry banana milkshake has become the family favorite! Also, the most perfect pup cup for my sweet dog! Can't wait to visit again during this summer season!

Swissvale swirl with oreo

Fantastic new addition to Swissvale! This place just opened last month so my wife and I had to go try it out on a sweltering summer day. The shop is really cute and has an old-school look and feel to it compared to the rest of the shops along Monongahela Ave (vibrant colors!). Service is quick and very friendly and the prices are super reasonable. They have a small bench right near the shopfront and a couple picnic tables around the back with umbrellas. Not a ton of seating but enough for this location. I got a milkshake with peanut butter and vanilla (the person who helped me kindly mixed the flavors since I was dithering between the two). My wife got a Swissvale Swirl (basically a blizzard) with oreo chunks. We really enjoyed them both and will definitely come back!

Really glad we stopped here for a springtime treat! This place feels like a hidden gem. The menu is somewhat limited but has all the soft serve shop essentials and a little more. Prices are very reasonable, portions are generous, and the woman working was super friendly. I was thrilled that they have a dairy free soy ice cream option, which was very tasty! Slightly less creamy than regular ice cream, but a very good texture. The flavor was vanilla and quite sweet. Can't wait to return to try their blended ice cream 'blizzards'.

Neighborhood gem for cold treats! (Also hot dogs.) Menu is varied, including sundaes, cones, and ice cream with mix ins ("Swissvale swirls"). Prices are super fair. Staff is quick. And there's a cute gravel-covered back patio with tables and umbrellas where you can sit to eat. Love the colorful mural and the pink flamingoes, too!

I was a customer of theirs at the Juneteenth festival in downtown Pittsburgh. They were serving dairy ice-creams (e.g., butter pecan, strawberry, Oreo, cookie dough, vanilla, chocolate, super human [cherry, blue moon, and vanilla], cotton candy, yippee skippy [peanut butter, caramel, brownies, and chocolate-covered pretzels, and banana cream) and vegan Italian ices (e.g., raspberry lemon, strawberry hibiscus, watermelon, kiwi, and carrot mango). An employee kindly greeted me. She needed me to repeat my order, but the employees correctly assembled my sundae. I liked the flavors very much. It had two scoops and toppings and cost about $10.

I got to try out their brownies (they also serve a variety of baked foods outside of just ice cream) and their strawberry cheesecake milkshake. Both were delicious. I was especially surprised by how amazing the brownies were. Awesome portion size, very chocolatey, pretty rich, and great texture as well. The milkshake was also great. Portion was nice, and they managed to get a nice strawberry flavor. I will say the base itself doesn't have much of a cheesecake flavor to it, but they include little bits of cheesecake throughout the milkshake to make up for that. All in all, a fantastic little ice cream shop to support and visit!

This factory offers a *tour* on certain Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Each tour lasts about 90 minutes and costs $25 per person. The tour includes seeing the factory's machines, tasting ingredients, and receiving a pint of ice cream. Through Millie's website, I purchased two tickets for a tour of the factory. On the day of the tour, my husband and I parked our vehicle in the free parking lot near the building. Inside the factory, the tour guide Quinn asked customers to sign a legal agreement and then gave us hairnets to wear. We started our tour on time. Quinn began the tour by telling the history of the business. Next, we walked through an antibacterial on the floor to clean the outsoles of our shoes. Quinn showed us a bottler machine, and they gave us samples of milk and chocolate milk to taste. This milk came from Twin Brook Dairy Company and was very rich. Quinn explained that Millie's is both a dairy processor and an ice cream manufacturer. Millie's creates ice creams completely from scratch and does not use any premade dairy bases. Then Quinn showed us machines that mix and cook ingredients. Common ingredients for Millie's ice creams are milk, heavy cream, egg yolk for French-style ice creams, salt, and cane sugar. Additional ingredients could include real vanilla, caramel sauce, coffee, beet root powder for color (no artificial colors), responsibly sourced chocolate, etcetera. Millie's pasteurizes these ingredients together, cooking them at approximately 165 degrees Fahrenheit for about 30-35 minutes. Quinn allowed the customers to smell and taste some of these ingredients. Next, Quinn showed us a machine that cools the ice creams and then a machine that is used to package the ice creams. They explained that the machines are cleaned with a hot acid flush and hot water. At the end of the tour, Quinn gave miniature cups of four ice creams-vanilla, best chocolate, coffee, and dairy-free mango--to each customer to taste-test. Then each customer got to select a pint of ice cream to take home.

I was having a real "Pittsburgh Proud" moment at this ice cream spot. I loved reading about the…read morehistory of the business and looking through all of the vintage advertisements and memorabilia outside the shop. My first thought after visiting was that I should have come here sooner, and my second thought was already deciding what I want to order next time. I am already planning to order the peanut butter soft serve with warm fudge and a warm cookie after being inspired by their chocolate chip cookie sundae advertisement and will need to ask about what the strawberry shortcake situation is all about as well. For years, I watched the long lines outside and wondered what all the hype was about. Sometimes you don't get it until you "get it" - and now I get it. Fortunately for us, there was barely any line when we arrived even though it was a hot summer day. Even better, it's only about a one-hour walk from my house. The service was also fast and friendly and the employee who helped us was pleasant the whole time which added to the overall experience. I was especially impressed by the peanut butter soft serve. The flavor was rich and pronounced without compromising the smooth, creamy texture of the soft serve. It was everything I would want peanut butter soft serve ice cream to be. I was also surprised by how many soft-serve flavors they offer. Most places have only a few options, but there was plenty to choose from here. That said, it's hard for me to order anything other than the peanut butter soft serve now that I know how much I love it. One thing to know is that they do not offer free samples because the flavors are made to order. Something else to know is that the small sized cone held noticeably more ice cream than the small cup despite being the same price - so if you can I suggest the cone over the cup if you want more ice cream for the same price. I originally chose the cup because my hands weren't clean, but I later realized the cones come with a plastic protector around them anyway. All in all, this is one of those places that lives up to its reputation, and I highly recommend coming here if you are an ice cream aficionado.
