I had an hour-long appointment at Swoon that started off smoothly -- my stylist/salesperson offered a nice range of dresses based on my preferences. I narrowed it down to two dresses that could've been THE dress. But as soon as my stylist realized I wasn't ready to buy on the spot, her tone completely changed -- she had a few side conversations with her colleague (manager?) and came back each time very pushy, frustrated, and desperate.. It was not subtle at all. When I gently told her privately in the dressing room that I needed more time to decide and didn't want to feel pressured (after being interrogated on why I wasn't confident enough to buy a dress on the spot), she stormed out and never returned -- no goodbye, no direction on what to do next. We had to ask another staff member how to wrap up the appointment. It was my first time wedding dress shopping as a bride-to-be and I left feeling awful. I was seriously considering buying from them, but this experience completely turned me off. The manager reached out to me about refunding my $50 fee since she noticed we left uncomfortable, but the issue runs deeper -- this salesperson's behavior reflects a larger problem. Buying a wedding dress is a big decision; customers deserve patience and grace, not pressure and manipulation. I went in shopping for a dress and drove a couple of hours to get here. They carry Eva Lendel and I was so excited! I found the dress I wanted and absolutely fell in love. It was quite expensive at $5k + but I was assured they could work with me on a payment plan. I wish I knew then what I know now- they don't truly offer payment plans, they will allow you to make a couple of installments but you have only a month to do so (maybe they'll extend an extra month but they have a rule that they need to allocate funds to a dress each month, something with their bookkeeping). I was a little buzzed from the champagne and the girl who helped me try on dresses was so nice but in a huge rush. I didn't realize there was a time allotment to my appointment. It would have been nice to be given a time frame (example 1pm-2:30pm) but we just had a start time. It may have been in an email or on their policies but I didn't read the fine print and this was my first experience. Long story short I'm out $350 because I wasn't prepared to pay the full half of the dresses cost to get it ordered within that month. I realize I should have been prepared to pay for the full cost but because told that they offered payment plans I wanted to put down $300 toward the dress and my fiance would cover the rest. I ended up speaking to the manager who told me their policy is to pay half within the 30 days and then they could order the dress and I would have 90 days to pay the remaining. She was nice enough to extend it and give me until the end of the year (I went in October) but when I tried to explain I felt a bit bamboozled she became sort of defensive and offered to give me my money back if I was accusing her staff of being dishonest. It was a really strange conversation. I was never irate. I was just confused. Ultimately I decided to not purchase the dress from swoon because it was probably the weirdest "customer service" interaction I've ever had. It was like good cop/bad cop. I left without any info about my dress and then when I explained my confusion I was talked to as though I was an irate customer making accusations.... But as I explained it was simply a lack of information. I'm now out of pocket $350 (they charge $50 for an appointment that can go toward your dress). So my caution to anyone shopping here. Read all of their fine print. There's a lot. But read it all. And absolutely don't pay a dime over your $50 appointment fee unless you're prepared to pay according to their policies. I would suggest a phone call in advance so you don't end up like me. I have since purchased the same dress from a shop in Carmel. They were kind enough when hearing my explanation to credit me $150 toward the dress to for my strange experience. She listened intently to what elements I was drawn to and was able to gently guide me towards dresses in my price range that were hitting all those marks for me. Walk in Wednesday's saved my butt! I had an appointment with studio inspire that was expensive and way too short. Couldn't decide between two dresses but was assured I could come back within the week to secure the dress. Less than 24 hours later I made my decision and returned to be told I needed to make another appointment and that the dress I wanted had already been sold. I was devastated. They also don't allow you to take outside photos because they take photos of you, but I wasn't informed until my second visit that the photos are only released if you buy a gown which made it incredibly difficult to make my decision after my appointment because i had no photos to look back on. Called Swoon the same day in a panic, they had the same dress and were able to accept me as a walk in right away with no appointment fee. Ended up falling in love with a completely different dress and they let my mom take photos of me throughout the whole try one process. It felt much more laid back and less snobby than inspire, but still special. I could see that place being good for the ultra bougie bride who has a year + to plan an expensive and extravagant wedding, but I'm an elopement kinda gal on an elopement budget so Swoon was the better choice for me, plus their gowns fit my boho style better than the ones at inspire. read more

I got my wedding dress here and flew from out of state just to get it from here. The staff were very friendly and sweet, very accommodating around my flight timing. I had a bit of a dress malfunction situation. My dress did not fit in the way that it did at the store, even though we had ordered the largest cup size that was available from this designer. I immediately reached out to the store, the store manager and all the staff were fantastic. I was a hot mess, super stressed and upset about what we were going to do now. Long story short, they communicated with the designer and shipped extra fabric to me. I was able to give the fabric to a local seamstress who did a fantastic job of altering and building up the dress. You couldn't even tell there was a dress malfunction. We had a very discouraging, cold and frustrating experience at Swoon on Plumb Lane, where we felt pressured, rushed and undervalued. They have a wide range of dresses (even some high end ones that are stunning) but the real star here is the staff. I recently found my wedding dress at Swoon. These people rock. Before my first appointment, my party and I met on the outdoor patio. You are allowed to bring a bottle of champagne to have before the appointment starts. Or Swoon can provide you with a splash of champagne for everyone. Once inside my stylist, Maddie, had me walk around the entire store and pick out some dresses I loved. She arranged them in the dressing room for me and even picked out a couple she though fit my style. The stylists are wonderful! They will help you get into the dress and adjust it once you are wearing it. Once you have a dress on, you come out and stand on the pedestal. Maddie fluffed our my dress and showed me how it would look if it was bustled, French or English. Maddie was seriously amazing! I worked with her when I went back for the second time: she already had my favorites from the first appointment waiting for me in my dressing room. I was feeling anxious and overwhelmed by the amount of dresses I had tried on, from multiple salons. She reassured me and reminded me to take a breath and just focus on how I feel in the dresses, one at a time. She even helped me look for new styles of dresses. That is how I came across my dress! Maddie made the experience that much better and I am so grateful to her. If you find your dress at Swoon, you will get to take a cute picture with the iconic "over the moon at swoon" sign! Once I picked my dress, Maddie did my measurements and we discussed how the dress would be made. The gown I selected will be a different size in the top than the bottom. Apparently, a lot of dress designers will do this. Now I am waiting for it to be made and am awaiting my first fitting and alteration appointment! I cannot wait! I remember checking their website a couple years ago due to curiosity of wedding dresses, now here I am finally trying their dresses! The place is beautiful, elegant and charming. When I came in the place was busy. On Saturdays they close at 4 but when I had scheduled an appointment with them weeks ago, they were willing to still help me out so that was very sweet of them to have me and the girls stay a little longer. Awesome part, they offer you champagne, water or sparkling water. Anyways, I had let them know what I was looking (gave them the designers from my research) and the budget range. I went to another local store in town, and when I purchased my dress from the location that shall not be named, they forgot my wedding date, ignored my multiple emails about needing to be remeasured because I had lost 50lbs since I bought the dress 8 months prior and also had not heard from them the whole time. Also they didn't provide me with a dress contract, which outlines the timeline of everything and they also had me pay in full no deposit. So when I was emailing I was also trying to get updates because the only dates I had were ones I hastily wrote down in my phone as we were getting the low down on purchasing before even shopping for gowns. If I hadn't done that who knows if I would have my dress. That bridal shop that shall not be named said they could tailor it if I paid, no problem. Measured me but then didn't contact me for a week when they said they would get me an invoice to pay by the following day. This was also after the tailor took me to her line of other dresses and said you'll have to wait until these are done sort of guilt tripping me for them mixing up my dates? It was weird and off putting. When I had not heard from them for 7 additional days, I emailed them again inquiring when I needed to pay. they were like OOPS we can't tailor anymore. You'll have to figure it out here are three local tailors you can use. I feel as if I hadn't reached out to the bridal shop that shall not be named they would have never reached out to me after my measurements to inform me they would be unable to compete the previously agreed upon task and timeline. I was also supposed to have a veil shopping experience and a final dress reveal but of course that wasn't going to happen with that shop. And they plopped my dress that was 4 sizes too big in my lap with tailor recommendations and when I picked up this dress not a member of the sales team of the shop that shall not be named was present or a manger they literally had the IT guy give me my dress. Felt as if they sent out their puppy so I wouldn't yell at him. Again it was so off putting and weird. I called the tailor as that shop referred bc they said they called ahead right? I get to the tailor and the tailor looked at my dress and said I don't know how to work with this dress. So you can imagine my immediate panic; my wedding is a month away, my expensive dress is so big it doesn't even sit on my body. What could I do? Breathe, right? Not just burst into tears thinking oh no my wedding is going to be ruined. I just wanted to look pretty on a day that would always be looked at by my family. What did I do? I called Swoon. I told them what was happening, with tears of course I probably sounded like a crazy bride! Amber was the one who took my call after first being very kind, I'm going to compare her to Snow White, because her sweet soothing demeanor and consoling instantly lowered my heart rate, told me everything would be okay, she also said something that just made everything better. "I know it's scary right now but once you put on your dress on your wedding day all of these worries will melt away and your dress will fit and you'll look beautiful." She could cure my depression tbh. And much like a fairy godmother she waved her wand, (which I'm sure was a lot more work on her part than just waving a wand !) and fixed me up. I'm a week out from my wedding, she got me a veil and accessories appointment so I could go in and shop for veils, etc. which I didn't get to do and the other shop, And she made the manufacture ship it super quick so she was able to work within my chaotic timeline. I regret not going to swoon but I am so happy they were there to pick up the pieces of what could have been a ruined wedding and fix it up better than I would have been. Because don't even get me started on how absolutely perfect their tailor is, Charlene is just everything and more than I could have hoped for. She has customized my bustle, added boning to my bodice so that my rather busty chest sit perfectly and she's also added multiple different sleeve options to transition my dress from ceremony to reception. So the tailor they have provided is like working with your own personal gown maker. If you want to feel like a princess and have all your bridal dreams come true. Please go here. I'm still being a major baby about not getting a cute picture that said "over the moon at Swoon" that I've seen all over social media - or any group photo for that matter - with my family that I didn't give a full 5 stars. I mentioned this to them on their instagram and they promised we would do it when I came back for my fitting, which they didn't. I spent a lot of money on my Matthew Christopher dress, and this moment captured with my mom, two sisters, and two nieces really would have meant a lot (4 of the 5 live 6.5 hours away and came just for dress try ons). I was too excited at the time to ask for a picture so I guess it's partially my fault. Anyways - the salon is adorable. It is definitely a very different experience than other bridal shops! You have one on one time and it's clean and it is the first place I went (4th stop) that I actually felt like a bride. I wish I would have tried on more dresses honestly just cause it was so fun here. You feel beautiful cause of the surroundings and large mirrors and boutique feel. I tried on about 6 dresses? Cheyenne was my consultant (this was about 10 months ago) and she was great. She was really sweet and patient with me. I narrowed it down to two dresses and I kept putting them both on and off over and over. Once I decided on my dress they gave us champagne which was an awesome touch. Cheyenne did even let my little nieces try things on so that was fun! I did go back to try on veils and jewelry with my fitting. I fell in love with earrings and a veil but they were too pricey and I couldn't validate spending another thousand dollars on those two things alone but I did love them! The quality of every item I tried on here is fantastic, and you'll pay for that :) my wedding is in 12 days and thanks to Cheyenne I can't wait to wear my dress! I can't say enough wonderful words about my experience here at Swoon! Excellent communication from the moment I made my appointment. When I arrived, my stylist, Gina, reviewed some details I'd shared prior to my appointment, with an impressive memory for the things I had shared. She pulled a couple dresses for me and invited my friends and I to browse the racks as well, after enjoying a champagne toast. Gina helped me put the dresses on and answered any question I had. She recited each dress' designer, price, fabric, and other little details as I tried them on, which was impressive and so helpful! We moved away from satin, clingy dresses, toward a heavier fabric. She helped me try out different veils, sleeves, and add buttons to change the look of certain gowns. She read my body language and shared with me when she could tell I felt confident in a dress. Gina was incredibly generous with her time, allowing us to stay a few minutes late. I probably tried on at least 10 dresses! Once I left, I was still thinking about a dress, and hadn't been able to show my mom yet, so Gina texted asking if I wanted to come back. She expertly answered all my Mom's questions via FaceTime, and didn't pressure me once into buying a gown when my Mom showed some doubts. Last weekend I had the pleasure of working with Amber H. at Swoon. The entire experience was pleasant and fun. I was coming from out of town and thought I knew which dress I wanted. When I called to make my appointment I spoke with Alicia (I believe that's her name), and she suggested another dress by the same designer based on my description of what I love. My mom and I came in Friday afternoon and I loved the dress that Alicia suggested, but was having a hard time deciding. Amber was super patient and never pressured me at all. I totally understand why Swoon is the premier bridal store in Reno. My ideal wedding dress costs wayyy below $1,000, so I wasn't even thinking that Swoon was in my price range. But my wedding photographer reminded me that their twice-a-year sample sale was coming up, so I booked an appointment to try on dresses a few hours after the sample sale began. I found two dresses in the under $1,000 category, one of which I LOVED. Because it's a sample sale, the dress wasn't exactly in my size, and I decided not to get it. Alterations would have ranged from $200 to $400, and it just doesn't make sense for my budget. But I had a fabulous experience browsing and trying on dresses! Alisha helped me, and she was so knowledgeable and personable. I'm happy to make small talk about where I am getting married and how I met my future spouse, and we covered those topics, but she also asked me about where I work, where I went to school, and whether I like living in Reno. Now THOSE are the more interesting ways of getting insight into my personality! Thanks, Alisha, for making me feel like I was not participating in the bridal industrial complex! Also, she made trying on the three dresses that were in my price range and desired style super easy and fun. Swoon is a shopping plaza with a parking lot that is entirely too narrow, so watch out pulling in and out of your parking space. But the store itself is absolutely gorgeous, and their selection of fashion-forward dresses is excellent. In other stores I've been like nahhhh to so many dresses, but at Swoon I was seeing such beautiful dresses that I was tempted to reconsider my style preferences. I'm not getting married until September, so if I haven't chosen a dress by the summer, I'll definitely return to Swoon for the next sample sale to see if anything strikes my fancy. read more

I came to Swoon in October 2022 after being referred by a friend of mine and unfortunately had a very terrible experience here. For context, I had paid the $50 to book an hour long appointment. I had already been to two other bridal shops so I had a general sense of the dress designs I wanted to try on. While the woman helping me try on dresses was very sweet and helpful, the general manager Alicia was unbelievably sales-y and pushy. I let Alicia know I had tried a Made with Love gown on that was outside of my budget and I was having a very difficult time finding an alternative that was in my price range. Alicia proceeded to talk at me for 10 minutes that this is the biggest day of my life, that budget shouldn't be a component in my decision making process, move things around to make it happen etc... After I let her know I was overwhelmed and needed to think on it, she basically snubbed me and my mother out of the store. They refused to take my measurements during my appointment even though I had paid the $50. They then proceeded to ask me to come back 2.5 hours later to take my measurements even though I let them know I was heading home which is 1 hour outside of Reno. I don't like writing negative reviews about small businesses but I think customer service is so important and the out of line remarks and pressure I felt during a simple dress appointment was shocking. read more

I liked this bridal shop, but it's definitely overhyped. They don't provide a private shopping experience like the other boutiques in town, and you're currently not allowed to pull dresses. The complimentary champagne they offer you is about a 1/4th cup, which seems really silly. The associates were nice, but something about the experience left a poor taste in my mouth. Im also curvier, and they didn't have a lot of larger gowns at times, which makes it hard to viaualize. They do have reasonably priced gowns, though. If you're looking for a more magical wedding dress shopping experience, skip Swoon. If you're looking for the run of the mill place, they're fine. read more

I fell in love with Swoon last year when my sister picked out her dress! I was over the moon when I finally got to the part of wedding planning and scheduled my appointment here! Amber was my stylist and she is beyond lovely. She was exceptionally wonderful at making me and my family feel very welcome!! Additionally she put me in dresses that were so gorgeous and right up my alley, with one "wild card" dress that made me feel like I was recreating Taylor Swift's "Love Story" music video. Amber was so delightful to work with, and made the process so memorable and lovely. I loved picking out my dress!!! read more

The shop is very cute and has a large assortment of dresses. I know I had a very selective style I was looking for but I feel like they were desperately trying to find me a dress for a sale. I appreciate the effort but unfortunately the pressure steered me away. read more
