Planning a full day of dress shopping in the future, I called and left a message asking if I would need an appt to view options. They later called me back but left no msg (I was unavailable and could not answer). A few days later, we went in on the weekend during posted business hours and immediately were told we would not be seen that day, as we had no appointment. We were also told we would need an appointment everywhere in town since it was the weekend. I did not feel welcome upon visiting and the brief interaction was somewhat off-putting. We first discovered Marchele's when my sister was engaged. We had already been to multiple bridal stires that just didn't have what we were looking for or that were willing to work with our modesty requests. I had a fantastic experience here. It was 2 weeks before my wedding and the dress I bought out of state came to me altered wrong. I called Marchele's and they got right to work on my dress. I love this place, recently went with my friend and both ladies were so helpful, the older lady helping us was so patient and did not rush us, she knew what would fit my friends body type, we went on a lower budget and time crunch and my friend does not speak any English so I was translating but they were so pleasant about it, you would think bcuz you are on a budget and having a language barrier they would discriminate you but that was not at all the case. I just went gown shopping with my friend yesterday and was sad because I thought Marchele's closed - but we found them in the Reno Town Mall and my friend was thrilled! They are so super friendly and helpful. The dresses were as beautiful as always, and still decently priced (comparable to the prices at David's - but much better quality). Plus - they treat you like family because they are local. Not like the corporate, Target-feeling chain of David's Bridal. Bought a dress for myself and my girlfriend here for a wedding we were in. The shop had decent variety they were friendly and helped me color match David's Bridal! The alterations were done at a fair price and the dresses fit perfectly. They remembered us every time we would go in for fittings or to make a payment. I previously gave Marchele's a really good review because I had a great experience finding a dress back in October. This review has since changed and the only reason I'm not giving a 1 star is because Mona was really nice to us. I was told the dress I chose would only take 3-4 months and would be in by the end of January. A week after ordering my dress, I got a voice mail from Marchele's asking if I decided on a dress and wanted to order one... I was confused because I had already placed the order just days before. That was the first thing I found unprofessional. Like they already forgot who I am and that I ordered? At the very end of January, I called Marcheles to check on the status and was told "it will be here soon, any day now". Then after waiting until end of February, we decided to go into the store to check in person and were told the shipping date was feb 21 so should be in any time. I was also told that I would get a call on Monday (it was Saturday when we went in) so they could call to get the shipping info. Side note, there were notes and papers scattered everywhere. They finally found my order in a mess of papers. Monday rolled around and I didnt receive a call. 2 weeks later I still hadn't received a call so I had to call them and ask where the hell the dress was. Got a call back right away to let me know it was in. Made me think though... did it happen to just get in that day? If so, what a coincidence. If not, why didn't I receive a call earlier? With all that said and done, I was at least feeling relief that my dress was in. I went to pick it up 5 days later on a weekend and they put my dress into what looked like a white trash bag. It was technically a garment bag but was plastic thinner than a trash bag material. I asked why there wasn't an actual garment bag for my DESIGNER wedding dress and they said they were out of stock. Is it just me or is it completely horrible customer service for a wedding gown shop to put your designer dress into the crappiest trash bag garment bag around, not to mention it wasn't even long enough for a dress. They had to stuff my dress up at the bottom and tie the bag. How are you out of stock of garment bags when this is literally the only thing you sell.... dresses. You get nicer garment bags at Kohl's when you buy a dress lol I cancelled my alterations appointment because I've been so disappointed in this store. Also, after trying on my dress at home, it was at least 1-2 sizes bigger than the size I had ordered. (I did not lose weight since buying the dress). I ended up going to Swoon to see if they could recommend a person who could alter my dress and they did. And so far that person has been great. I will end up leaving them a review once things are said and done. I would not recommend Marchele's. The lack of customer service is just crazy. read more

I have gotten my prom dresses, my bridesmaids dresses, and my military ball gowns from Marchele's. I cannot gush about this store and the owner enough. The dress was gorgeous on the hanger, and then when I went for my first dress fitting I hated how I looked in it. The dress was glorious, but I was so frazzled with wedding planning, that I could not accept I looked like that in the dress I chose and was feeling overwhelmed. Instead of simply sending me on my way as this was the dress I chose and purchased, Michelle sat down with me and talked about what options were available to me this close to the wedding and then she coordinated a slew of alterations to the dress in one day to make me happy. I cannot thank her enough for her support and the beautiful work she did to the dress in order to make me feel more comfortable and beautiful in it. I have been looking for dresses the past few weeks, and this was one of my stops because they said they carry the designers i was interested in. First, the lady's were nice, but looked less than professional. I thought they were just random people off the street, until I realised that they were the employees or owners. I didn't see any dresses that I was looking for. They looked a lot older and not from current lies. The bridesmaids dress we're pretty bad too. There was one I liked but that was it. They did have a lot of cute flower girl dresses. My niece was very happy to try them on. Not my cup of tea, but at least they are nice. Yes, they are affordable but there are so many dresses all smooshed together that it gets overwhelming. The dresses all have a generic, outdated style to them. I recently purchased a bridesmaid dress from this dress shop, originally we were quoted 199 for the dress. Somehow that went up to 249 when it came to payment, alteration quotes started at one price and of course increased again when it came time for payment for very simple alterations, this happened to multiple bridesmaids in the party and the alterations were TERRIBLE!!! My straps were sewn on completely (and VERY noticeably) crooked, the bottom hem was bunched, uneven and frayed, and the sides were she took it in were very crooked as well causing a ballooned out effect down the seem. Never again will this place see a penny of my money! Steer clear, this place is a SCAM! My $200 dress turned into a $400 dress with nothing but terrible alterations to show for it. read more

My experience at Marchele's was a little bit weird - not bad, but different than what I had heard and read in reviews. I am not sure if something went wrong on the day I was there, but there seemed to be a pile-up of several different groups of people that had appointments at the same time, so the woman helping me kept having to leave to go back and forth to help other people, and while I was trying on dresses there was a big crowd of strangers staring at me (not my favorite). There were some pretty dresses, but unfortunately nothing that was exactly what I wanted. The lady helping me was very accommodating though, and was informing me that a lot of alterations could be done to the dress -- pretty much any customization I mentioned I might want (adding straps, extending lace to the bottom, taking away some of the beading), she said they could do. She was a little rushed at getting me in and out of the dresses, but since I wasn't finding anything I loved anyway I was okay with that. I've known the owner of Marcheles for years and she's always been great. I got my wedding dress from her 4 years ago. She altered it to fit perfectly and it was ready for my big day and I still love it. She also does shoes! My daughter is a natural pageant participant and after years of getting horrible service from Davids Bridal, I called her and she said that she dyes shoes!!! I never knew that so my daughter and I went down to her and she had the perfect shoes in stock and was able to dye them quickly for her (and for less than Davids with none of the attitude you get from the girls who work in Davids) - I will be going to Marcheles every time I need anything that she has to offer from now on!!! read more
