three cupcakes on a white plate

The hubby and I were looking for a place to get something sweet after dinner and I of course looked up dessert places in the area I was in and Simply Sweet came up. We looked at the pictures already posted so we decided to try it! Seriously one of the BEST cupcakes we have had! So moist! We ended up getting 4 cupcakes, chocolate with Peanut Butter frosting which was AMAZING!! German chocolate cupcake which my husband ate before I could take a picture but he said it AMAZING too! And we also got pecan pie cupcake and a snickerdoodle cupcake which we have not ate the last two yet! But I am sure they will just as delicious! I highly recommend this place! Looking forward to going back and trying the other flavors!!

My favorite cupcakes in all of central Texas. Worth driving out of your way to pick up these mini bites of heaven. I work at a hospital in austin and first experienced Simply Sweet about 8 years ago when a patient's family brought them in for the nurses. I now get them every year for my son's birthday and they are always a huge hit. Perfect size for work parties and kid parties.

Simply sweet is just absolutely the best! We got cupcakes from them for our baby shower and they were absolutely perfect! I thought people would gravitate towards chocolate/vanilla but the real hit was the pecan and pumpkin cheesecake cupcakes! They're out of this world! We'll definitely use them again for special occasions

Assorted yummy cupcakes: Banana split is the one with cherry on top.

Love the cupcakes!! Tried the banana split and hubby had the pecan pie. Absolutely delicious. We ordered online then picked them up; also got the Vanilla, Strawberry, Peanut Butter Chocolate, and the Blue Velvet. Glad we found this place while in Bastrop.

    Granddaughter Loved them..

I ordered 36 mini cupcakes for a graduation party. I'm not from the area, so I had no clue how they would taste. Well, let me tell ya!! Best cupcakes I've ever had. I left the choices to Steven the owner, and personally I don't think it would have mattered what they gave me ... they were all spectacular. My family could not decide which was their favorite, it was just too hard to pick. So, if you have a big event or even a small event, feel confident about this place. 5 STARS AND BEYOND

Always amazing and sweet staff. Definitely worth the hour drive from Austin! The maple bacon is perfectly sweet and savory, the sugar cookie dough is perfect, and the Oreo has my heart. I love taking the snickerdoodle frosting and eating it with the chocolate cupcake, taste like a churro! Always a favorite when I'm in town and they always hit the spot.

They have gluten free options as well as vegan options and options for those who can have gluten. I went there for three out of the six days that I was on vacation in that area. I had originally wanted a chocolate chip cookie, but they didn't do just regular gluten free ones. However they did have gluten free peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. I'm not a big fan of peanut butter, but I thought I would try it since I was really craving a cookie. I had just the one, and it was so so so good! It didn't taste overly of peanut butter which was a win for me! It had just the right amount of peanut butter and chocolate chips. It was crispy around the edges and chewy towards the middle. I went back that same day and got two more of those cookies. The other days I went I got the same thing. One day, I did try their gluten free apple butter bar which was just as amazing! Service was fantastic! Each day I went, there was someone I hadn't seen before working. Each of them were super nice and friendly. The bakery itself had a very calm ambiance about it. It had a lot of space inside if you wanted to eat your meal or dessert inside or you could get it to go. I also love how Tough Cookie Bakery supports the LGBTQ+ community. There was a pride flag painted outside of the bakery, and that just made me love the place that much more! I would definitely recommend Tough Cookie Bakery in Bastrop. I can't wait to go back once we're back in the area at the end of this month.

The only letdown was finding out that the ice cream isn't homemade or unique to the shop--it's just Blue Bell. Now, as a lifelong Blue Bell fan, I'll never turn it down, but with a place that has so much originality and character, we were hoping for a menu that reflected that same spirit. Still, it's a cute spot and worth a visit for the atmosphere alone.

He was really nice and welcoming, and he really wants to turn this coffee shop around. I had been here before when it was owned by someone else, and the coffee was alright then, but both Sunday and today's coffees were amazing. I ordered a gingerbread latte on Sunday, and today it was a caramel latte, and both were the right amount of sweet without it overpowering the coffee. Under the previous owners, I couldn't really taste the flavor too well, just sweet coffee. I also bought a blueberry muffin both times, and I highly recommend them. I will definitely be going back!

I love a good light roast coffee. They have the most fun notes, flavors, caffeine. Needless to say, I've struggled with the options in Bastrop for a while... Tracy's sources a two solid medium roasts from Progress that's decently fun and flavorful... Texas Coffee Works hasn't really blown my socks of yet either... All that to be said, I'm still on the hunt for the best local Light roast. To my surprise (previous owner's coffee was not it...) Coffee Dog recently started selling a really good "Zombie Defense Serum" roast (dorky, kina funny name, but with an unfortunate AI art generated sticker)... It's delicious! Has a good acidity, it's fairly bright, and there's some fun notes in it. I wish I knew what day it was roasted (the 2 week carbon release rule), but I do think it was fresh and hadn't had the chance to release all of its carbon. I'd be interested to see what it tastes like in peak form. Give the ole Zombie Serum a try and support local. Even if they use AI art for their coffee bag designs...

Look at the amount of bacon I discovered when I got home, took my taco out of the foil and plated it :-) I order my tacos there without cheese, because the cheese they use tastes too much like Velvita to me. But they otherwise do a great job. I love their migas and they always have several fresh salsas to choose from. They also have Pupusas with Curtido! If you don't know what that is, you're missing out! It's the best and most iconic of all El Salvadoran dishes, and it's got a flavor profile that should be loved by anyone who likes Mexican food. Of course, it's not just a restaurant. It's a grocery store. They have meat and fresh produce and narrow but well-stocked aisles. The prices are good. The staff is friendly, and they speak English as well as Spanish. And being there is a bit like stepping into Old Mexico. So swing in by. They're over by Chapala.
