Great place. Mrs Cox ( 1 X, is fantastic) Mrs Cox sat with me and and my Bud Johnny cigar. Shelly was so charming, I could have listened to her talk for ever. Dogs were great and the 80s wrestling and old cartoons, on the screens were great. Thank you Mrs.Cox , one X. We had a great time and if you need anything, just text.

Very nice place. Posters, plaques, signs hanging on the walls. The first time inside was yesterday Friday 03/ 01/2024. Old cartoons on one screen and 80s wrestling on the other. Nice setup with the front main entrance, the eating area classic old wood top and thick metal frames that won't bend . Hotdogs were great as was the cupcakes and cheese bars. Mrs Cox, one x, is a charming lady. I could have talked to Mrs. Cox for hours. Great place.

First off, how cute is this place!!!! Such a sweet small town spot. But the food was equally as good! Owners are super friendly and just make you feel right at home. Highly recommend the chili cheese potatoes. So good!! Didn't take a picture cause we ate it up.

Yum yum!! Husband saw this little place and thought it would be a nice little stop and I'm so glad we did!! Burgers, dogs, desserts, and chips/drinks. $0.79 tea. We ordered a Great American Bandstand hot dog and a burger. Both came with chips. The chili on the hot dog was so good. This thing was bursting with flavor. The burger was the same way. Our total check was less than $14 for two people. All outdoor picnic table seating under the awning of an old gas station (1920's). All painted and fixed up. Ceiling fans. 50's music playing. A great experience all around.

Service was excellent, and so accommodating. Very glad we checked them out on our way through town.

    Hamburger was delicious!

Service and food was so good! Served hot and with a smile! Diffently recommend this place!

We were for the watermelon festival, the restaurant is very clean and well ACed. Yep that's very important to us. Surprising good decor and food. Simple hotdog with chili. A great stop to get good food and relax

Outstanding. Great burger. Even better chili dog. Very friendly owners and staff. Go here if you can.

    The beautiful interior

Such a gem. We were traveling from San Antonio to n and we wanted something besides the typical barbecue or Mexican food. The good thing about coming at lunch rush hour was I walked by every table and every basket looked better than the rest. By the time I went to the counter I wanted everything. I settled with a hot dog and a side salad and my husband chose a burger. None was run of mill. There were 4or 5 burgers to chose from and 4 or 5 hot dogs. Let me tell you. I was expecting a basic hot dog but these are not. The meat was lean, not greasy and so flavorful. I chose my dog with bacon, jalepenoes and ranch. Delicious. The salad had the most beautiful tomatoes and they had great home made dressings. My husband had a jalepeno concoction and he loved it too. We left stuffed and each meal was under $10 which is unheard of now days. The shop is adorable like a walk back into the 1960's drugstore. Such a great surprise!

The food, which in my case was a hamburger was absolutely wonderful. The french fries were equally well done. The portions are generous and given how busy the restaurant is it was very well prepared. Again, given how busy this particular restaurant is the service is amazingly efficient, and the staff is very nice. Although I would suggest it is not a place you would necessarily want to come to relative to its ambience on the other hand you would miss a wonderful meal if you did not. In my case I chose the meal over the ambience and it was well worth it and that is the reason I give it five stars.

The food was especially good with large portions and very reasonably priced. I understand there is a meat market next door (I assume the meat comes from there). My Philly Cheese Steak was excellent. The hamburgers are 1/2 pound (unless you want bigger) and very good. My wife had the BLT and was amazed at how much better than normal the bacon was. Our nephew, who is a big eater, couldn't even finish his chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and country gravy and said he's never had better. We all had fries and they were fresh, house-made, and delicious. None of us could finish them all. We pass through Gonzales maybe a dozen times a year and since this place is a couple of block west of where we join Hwy 90A, we've never seen it. Other reviewers mentioned that it seems to be a favorite of the locals and now it one of ours too. The tables fill the room and if there were more I'm sure they would fill them, though that might mean the fast service could suffer, so to me it's fine as is. We will return and will start planning our trips to include lunch here. They close at 2 pm so will leave home with that in mind.

We walked from our hotel and were greeted with so much warmth right away. We were seated instantly and had the sweetest server, Sarah, who was incredibly helpful and attentive the entire time! They started us off with popcorn which was such a fun first lol. We ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer and they were absolutely delicious! My husband got the chicken & waffles with a side of eggs & bacon, and I ordered the chicken fried steak from the lunch menu. Both plates were AMAZING... seriously some of the best food we've had! Then they brought out cornbread and omg... SO good. This place became such a staple of our trip and we already can't wait to come back. There's just something special about finding a cute restaurant with incredible food and even better service. Definitely one of those places that leaves you wanting more!

Friendly staff overall. The food fell flat for almost all of us. The salads were fresh and good. However, the ribs were below average. Cornbread was stale and not tasty. Biscuits tasted more like firm bread and not at all flaky/soft. That seemed weird to all of us. Chicken fried steak was soggy and not crispy. Drinks were ok. Not quite sure why the food was subpar, but there were 10 of us who all agreed we wouldn't return for food. There is a swanky little cozy speakeasy in the basement that may be good? We didn't try that.

It was a nice, hot, muggy day! We enjoyed the BBQ, the beer, and the cocktails. I don't drink beer (but if I did I'm sure it would be Shiner beer) so I was glad to see they had a distillery with pretty much a full bar. Three of us took the tour, which was fascinating! The AC was not working well in some parts of the building that day so part of the tour, we were sweating quite a bit during parts of it because it was a hot day. The BBQ (lean brisket and sausage) was good but their sauce was a bit watery/bland. I believe the spirits were also made by the same people but I haven't seen that brand in other stores before. I had a paloma (they don't have grapefruit soda so it was just made with ruby red grapefruit juice and vodka with some soda water) and a spicy margarita. Both were good but tasted different than a typical vodka or tequila drink to me. The friends I went with have gone there several times and said the drinks/cocktails seemed watered down this time didn't taste the same as they usually do so we wondered if they had changed their spirits or the measurements. I guess I'll have to go back again some day and see if they've gone back to their usual drink recipes!

Pulling up to Roadhouse felt like I was about to film a low-budget country music video. The aggressively unpretentious energy was immaculate. The all-dirt parking lot said everything! No curated patio, no aesthetic succulents just straight up vibes and dust. The place was packed at 1 p.m. Our server, Raven, took great care of us from the jump. Rave was very efficient, friendly, and had zero attitude. We ordered a basket of fries, a portobello mushroom burger for me, a cheeseburger, a Philly cheesesteak, upgraded side salads, and, of course, their famous carrot cake to share. Now, let me confess something: As a Californian, I walked in with absolutely zero expectations given the facade. And yet... the fries were perfect. The portobello burger was juicy, well-seasoned, and very satisfying! My friends inhaled their cheeseburger and Philly like they were participating in a competitive sport. Lol. And don't even get me started with their carrot cake. It was disrespectfully delicious! This was seriously the most humbling "don't judge a book by its cover" moment I've had in a while. Roadhouse doesn't need any curated lighting or a reclaimed-wood Instagram wall because the food and service speak for themselves. I drove into a dirt lot with skepticism and left faceplanted by my own bias. Consider me corrected, Bastrop!
