This is one of my favorite golf courses, golf carts are ready to go when you get there. When l went in to pay l was greeted by Matt & he was very friendly & helpful. I then went into restaurant/bar & was greeted by Mia, l purchased a Banana nut muffin & lge coffee, she was very fast & also served us on the turn. The golf course was in great condition we did west/south, 2-hrs and we were waiting on a twosome on every hole. Note: l recommended to management that there was disrupting lawn mowing while we were on the tee. We also ran into a group laying a dump truck full of sod. It's nice to see the young workers helping to maintain this beautiful golf course. read more

RANGER DAN has to be the most miserable man in Macomb County. Playing twilight on a beautiful spring night. As always, pace of play is slow, but that has became the norm here... however, this was not the issue. With the slow pace of play I jumped from North to West as I expect to finish at least 7 holes in 2 hours. As I made the jump to West, ranger (Joe I think.. nice man with a mustache) asked where we were coming from and to enjoy the nice weather. In the middle of this conversation RANGER DAN reacted as if he saw a ghost and said "NO THIS IS THEIR LAST HOLE". Even ranger Joe was caught off guard and said "oh wow...ok then DAN". RANGER DAN proceeded to follow us down the west 4 fairway shot by shot in silence. We asked if we could play one more hole (since it was 8 and still light out) and RANGER DAN threatened to pit maneuver us (wish I was joking)! RANGER DAN will be the reason I will not come back to Syc in the 2026 season...maybe we will give it another try next year!!! I hope Max (the club pro) has a word with RANGER DAN about how to treat paying customers, professionalism, and respecting the game of golf! read more

Charging $67 to play a course packed like sardines is one thing, but charging that for a course in this condition is INSANE. First of all, if you play the south, you don't even play a par 72, but a par 70 because one of the par 5 has been shortened to a par 3. The t-boxes are in absolute atrocious conditions, parts of the fairways are hard has concrete, not to mention littered with leafs (in August) making finding your ball on the fairway a game of where's waldo, and best of all the cups in the green are not even installed correctly. To the point that my ball bounced over the hole because the metal rim of the cup protruded out of the hole, when it should be like half a inch further down. I've played $35 courses in better shape than the South holes, and I'm not exaggerating. I suggest skipping Sycamore for the rest of the year, but if you must come here, skip the South holes. read more

Can't speak on the golf game, came here for a baby shower during the summer. Parking was pretty tough since there was a golf outing going on in the morning. A few buildings are on the property but the banquet hall the shower was in was all the way to the left from the parking lot. The lobby had a lot of warm wood tones with a big mantel/fireplace and an impressive staircase. The lobby was connected to two different banquet rooms and two different showers were going on at the same time. The banquet room for the shower was nice with large windows that overlook the golf course. Bar was to the right when you walk in. The staff were okay, not overly friendly or attentive but overall got the job done. A family member of the shower has a dietary restriction and wasn't sure about the Italian dressing being dairy free. The manager quickly came over and spoke to them and answered their question about the ingredients. The food was plated and everything tasted fresh and was seasoned well. Tables were set up for guests to leave their gifts. The hostess was able to decorate as they wanted and a microphone was provided too. The only complaint I heard from the hostess was not being able to get into the room earlier to set up. I also heard from that if you go over your time for the room, then it's an extra $500 for each 15 minutes over. Overall, it was a nice afternoon with good food, especially for banquet food and pretty views of the golf course. read more

Nothing says "goat track" than 5.5 hour rounds. Yep, 5.5 hours. 3 hours on the front, 2.5 on the back. The ONLY reason something like this happens is because of overbooking. Online tee times say 8 min tee times (which is wayyyy too short, should have known). I decided to call instead, and I was booked for a tee time which wasn't even listed.. hmm, sounds like they are overselling times. For 62 bucks? I wouldn't pay 26. In fact, I would play here if they paid ME 62 bucks. Last time I ever play here. Course managers are so short sighted. Fit in a couple extra groups and hour, piss off most of the field, and I know my group didn't stick around for drinks and food after. No way I'd give this place another dollar, and when things turn bad for golf, this won't be on my list of places to save. Course was in pretty lousy shape as well. As you can see from the pic, some fairways were trash. Greens were SUPER bumpy. No sand on the carts, so there are divots everywhere. read more

The course was in terrible condition in the middle of the summer, they charged 67 dollars to play, the pace of play was awful, it took 5 hours to play 18 holes. There were greens that had literal bunkers on them, fairways were minefields. please dont waste your money or time until they correct the course. Might be one of the most overrated golf courses in the Macomb area. This is the perfect place to spend 6 hours of your day to wait for three groups in front of you to tee off on almost every hole. The course itself is the definition of MID. 65$ for 18 ? I'd rather go down the street to hickory hollow where I don't have to wait 20 minutes in between every shot. We had my son's wedding here a few weeks ago and it was darn near perfect. The venue looked beautiful, the food was amazing and the service was perfect. Honestly, it really went off without a hitch. We were here for a wedding reception. This was an absolutely superb venue. Plenty of parking. The room was spacious with an excellent view of the golf course and a very nice sized dance floor. The food was excellent but what made the event was the outstanding service and waitstaff. We had 2 open bars that moved very smoothly throughout the night. The bartenders were knowledgeable and generous with their pouring. During appetizers the waitstaff really worked the room ensuring all had access to the excellent different appetizers available. During the meal they were even better. The meal we had was served family style with multiple courses. They were always quick to refill platters and drinks. Continued to take drink orders for the bar throughout the evening. At the end of the night when my wife wanted additional wedding cake they even found some extra that had been taken to the back. Food itself was outstanding as well. First course was an excellent carbonara followed by large portions of extremely fresh salad. Main course included beef tenderloin and a chicken Marsala. For the amount of food everything was hot and had excellent flavor. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a wedding site in this area read more

Most of the staff was okay in service but the rest was terrible very rude and unprofessional. Tees times scheduled are very spotty don't know if you'll actually make the real tee time. Always rushed and most of the staff doesn't seem to know how to even operate a golf course. Cart paths are terrible the course it's self was pretty nice but other than that terrible course but it's cheap that's all you can expect. read more

Amy and Josh chose Sycamore Hills Golf Club as the outdoor venue for the beginning of the rest of their lives together. The weather was touch and go...gloomy and raining in the morning, flashes of sunlight, and dark eery storm clouds kept trading places with each other. I was almost unsure I wanted to curl my hair. Last minute, the workers were scrambling to set-up the chairs on the lawn area. I can only imagine the thoughts going through their minds as they picture themselves placing and arranging each chair, only to have to scoop them back up with the downpour began. Thankfully for Amy and Josh, the rain held back for their perfect day to continue as originally planned. As we arrived, two young men stood outside the doors of the golf club. They were directing us guests to the side of the golf club, where the gazebo and wedding was to take place. -1 star because you either enter in the front of the gazebo, completely interrupting the ceremony if you just so happen to be late[thankfully, I never am], or you can enter through the golf club, and come up the back- but that's also where the entourage enters and the 2 young men guarding the door weren't letting anyone in, anyway. They had a tall sound speaker for the music that was being played, pretty brick pavers made the path to the gazebo, and a great view of the golf course! As with any outdoor wedding without microphones, it was sort of hard to hear the minister and the couple exchange their vows. Amy and Josh chose to do unity sand, and they did so inside of the gazebo. Overall, very pretty backdrop for their ceremony. The golf club inside was nice. The head table was in front of gorgeous picture windows overlooking the green. Two bars in the back, for the obvious and most patronized part of any wedding. A buffet line for hors de oeuvres and family-style dinner. I really like the family-style dinner- each table had an assigned server, and each table was very intimate and conversational, due to the frequency of "talking to your neighbor". Just had my wedding reception here this past weekend and it was well worth the money we spent. We received so many compliments on the food and service. There was a leak in the hallway near the bathroom, but I notified a server and he took care of it right away. All of the bartenders were great! And Emily even brought my husband and I apps as we were standing in the receiving line. I would definitely recommend Sycamore Hills to others as a place to hold their wedding reception. And my husband and I will be looking into their New Year's party or other gatherings they may have so we can eat their food again! read more

Due to covid we signed on to Sycamore 4 weeks before our daughter's wedding. Julie and Emily couldn't have been more helpful! The venue did what they needed to do to set up a perfect beautiful space for a covid time wedding. My guests were comfortable, I got more wonderful comments on the tent set up then I can count. The food and drink was once again great. And the staff was efficient. We have dealt with Sycamore now for 2 weddings and a shower and I would highly recommend them for any of your events. read more

The course is in horrible shape. The south course is nearly unplayable if there has been any recent rain. Maintenance staff totally unaware of people hitting tee shots and mowed fairways. My review, unlike the previous ones, is more geared towards the "Golf Club" of Sycamore Hills I've played here several times over the years, most recently this past Saturday. -1 Star for not having windshields on the golf carts. The weather was not ideal for an outing and we had to battle the light rain everytime we would drive the cart because of the lack of a windshield -2 Stars for the course in general. It's really just meh. It is very short and I would recommend it more for those on the average side (15-20+ handicap). -1 Star for the price. Although I was paying a bundled price for a charity outing that included meals and range balls etc., the prices Sycamore charges on a regular basis are a little outside what the course itself demands. Like I said before, this isn't the greatest course so their rates should be more reflective of that. +1 Star for the beer cart. I've been to a few outings at this course and they are very fond of the cashless beer cart. So as part of your outing price, whenever the beer cart comes around, you just take what you need. No tickets, no cash (except for tips), just drinks. This is very convenient and fun for the big drinkers on the course. 0 for food. The lunch was bad. The hot dogs were boiled, not grilled (should have went with a burger) and the potato salad and cole slaw was some of the worst I've had. However, for dinner they served a filet which was medium rare and tasted great, so they sort of saved themselves on that one. All totaled for most, the windshield and beer cart will wash because odds are that you are looking to come here because you are choosing the course and it won't be a rainy day. So -1 for rates and -2 for the course comes out to a 2/5. Hit 'em long and straight. read more

Mid-November golf in Michigan leaves little to complain about. This was my first time playing Sycamore Hills (West/South) and am now wishing I discovered this place earlier in the year. The course is extremely well kept despite the time of year, leafs were only an issue on 2 of 18 holes, greens are challenging, scenery is unique, hole design was fun and overall experience was great! Greens are terrible and unplayable just as everyone else below said. I mean really really bad! Fairways aren't much better. Not worth playing this course for the cost, much better courses near by. I golfed a twosome today and when I got to the second hole, an employee came out and said I needed to hurry or leave because there's a tournament at 1pm. I said I couldn't go any faster cause of the foursome in front of me. The very next hole the employee came back and told me to hurry again and harassed me. 3 holes later he came back and told me I need to hurry once again..... I asked why they gave us a reservation for a tee time just to rush us but he didn't care... I then said to just refund us and we will leave now if you're just going to yell at us to hurry, he said no refunds basically. There was no one behind us that we were holding up either. We finished before 1 like he asked, but didn't really get the chance to enjoy ourselves. As we were leaving him then came up to us by the club house and was rude cutting it so close to the tournament. Trust me, do not go to this course... Much better courses in the area! read more

Started golfing here in a league for the first time this year. Greens have been terrible for the last 6 weeks. This week was the best they have been and they still do not roll true. Nothing has been done to the sand traps this entire year. They have not been tilled or raked, they are like hard gravel. Course plays very slow, they put people out in front of our league, this last week, it took 3.5 hours to play 9 holes, it was not cart path only this night. The rangers do not keep golfers moving. The first 4 weeks, our league did not finish before dark. The course does not seem to care. The Club house management is arrogant and rude. They told us we had to police our own league for speed however we cannot golf faster as they continue to put slow people out in front of us. In years past, this course was always had great greens, fairways and bunkers, seems they have stopped taking care of this course. I have been to several other golf courses in the area in the last couple of weeks and the conditions of those courses has been fantastic. Totally disappointed, I would not recommend this course to any one. Go somewhere else. GT read more

We were so impressed by how well maintained the overall grounds and the west course (the only one we played) were, and how well-marked. The grounds were beautiful, and the course was very interesting and challenging for a casual golfer. The staff was pleasant and didn't overload the course. This is where I had my wedding in October of 2007, was the maid of honor at my sisters wedding in April of 2009, and will be attending a family friend's wedding in February of 2010. Obviously we like the place! Looking for wedding reception sites made me want to pull my hair out. Weddings are expensive! I felt like most of the venues I found were either way out of my price range, or required me to have to budge on something that I wanted to have. With Sycamore Hills, the only thing I didn't get was a reception in Detroit itself. I can live with that. The hall at Sycamore Hills is great- Windows, windows everywhere. Two bars, for twice the drinking fun. Decent sized dance floor for all sorts of good times. A little outdoor courtyard area so people could get fresh air or smoke - and still see what was going on inside. Julie is the wedding coordinator at Sycamore - and she was incredibly helpful. They made sure that we had everything that we wanted and that the hall looked the way we wanted as well. They have you go through a sort of interview process beforehand so they know exactly what you want. If there is a certain drink that is the bride and grooms favorite, but isn't including in the bar - they will make sure to have that on hand for the evening. Fantastic. So on to the things people care about when they attend weddings. Food: Delicious. There was a tasting event that we attended prior to the wedding where we could try every menu offering. We had a very hard time selecting our menu, the food was THAT good. More importantly - Bar: Amazing. Sycamore does not have a crappy well liquor only option. Their least fantastic bar is along the lines of Absolut, Tanqueray and Jim Beam. We went a step up and had the bar that included Kettle One, Jose Cuervo, Jack Daniels, etc. and expanded beer and wine selections. They also have an option one above that including Grey Goose, Bombay Samphire, Crown Royal - that sort of thing. The drinks were good- mixed like they would be at a bar, not the watered down crappy version. They also let you do shots. Shots! Shots! Shots! I hate when you can't do shots at weddings. We also did their late night snack option - pizza for my wedding, Mexican munchies for my sisters wedding. Food was good for soaking up the booze in our guests stomachs. My sister also had their cappucino cart at her wedding- which was open after dinner for a couple of hours. This was a super cool option as well, jealous that I didn't have one for mine. The hall looked gorgeous too. My REASONABLY-priced wedding package included the extra fancy table linens and chair covers. Champagne toasts for all were included. There is a gazebo right outside if you like that sort of thing - We were also able to go out on the golf course for pictures. (That part, by the way, was one of the only negatives I would have for my wedding. The crotchedy man who took us out on the golf course must have been having a bad day because he was cranktastic and I may or may not have found it necessary to tell him off.) The only other thing about the place that is maybe not as fantastic as some other places is that the lobby is pretty small and the bathrooms are not very pretty. I do enjoy that it is not like some of the bigger halls where you have five weddings going on at once. All in all- I recommend it, Obviously :) read more

My husband and I were excited when our bid won golf for two at a charity event. Then we found out about all the conditions (cart not included, could not redeem voucher after 3:00 pm or on weekends). After taking a day off of work and paying $24 for a cart (they told us $12 on the phone but would not honor this), we soon realized the round would be backed up all day. We had to wait at every hole and had people waiting on us, so we felt rushed. It was 90 degrees outside, so I called the pro shop to ask if they would be sending out the beverage cart and I was told, "We'll take care of it." When we stopped to get something to drink at the turn, the kitchen staff informed us that the cart does not go out until after 3:00. The yard markers were often inaccurate and the signage for hole locations was confusing. However, if you love lots of water hazards at almost every hole, you'll love this place. The grounds were very pretty for a suburban course. We do not intend on returning. read more
