The Village Green Gallery serves a great niche in Weston. For tourists: The town is in a deadzone for internet, and the cafe offers tables to sit at to check your email. Only, the connection is unreliable in the 6+ times I've visited over the past 2 years. I find the prices for coffee and light pastries to be very expensive, and the service not that great, although there is careful attention paid to keep it all local. In comparison to the tsotchke knick-knacks of the Vermont Country Store and the Weston Village Store, the fine crafted pottery, jewelry, glasswork, and photographs are a breath of fresh air. All the pieces, while expensive, are truly a sight to behold. And there are a handful of intentionally lower-priced items like note cards and glass rings for sale, too. For locals: the Fuji'is host the Weston Film Club for monthly viewings and discussions on foreign and independent films. They also host a book club and open up the space for other community meetings. I highly recommend a viewing (usually during the week) of the Film Club. Pop in to browse! The location right on the West Village Green can't be beat! While this is a favorite, I treat it more like a museum to view the artwork, as there's little there that I can afford there and I've never been wowed by the hospitality of Mrs. Fuji, who's usually behind the counter of the cafe. Look elsewhere for food. Look no further if you need to check your email and want to be inspired by the artwork.

Being an amateur furniture maker myself and also having been in the wood industry my whole career, I love wood. The furniture that Brent and his craftsmen make at Clear Lake Furniture is top notch. They have many different designs that you will not find in any furniture store and the quality is exceptional. After we checked out the showroom with a good representation of the what they can do I noticed a sign on the doorway that leads down to there shop which invites you to go down and explore the shop and talk with their craftsmen. Well I couldn't pass that up so down we went. We were welcomed by Mark who was very glad to show us around and see some of the beautiful woods they use to make their amazing furniture. He also explained that each piece of furniture is made by one craftsman from start to finish. So if you are interested in some handcrafted custom furniture, do yourself a favor and check them out. The store feels like it used to be a cozy home, with small rooms through out. Perfect for setting up a rustic little store that specializes in "Artful Living" - a description that I would normally roll my eyes at, but in the case of DaVilla Gallery, it is exactly right. It is located in a small shopping area in down town Chester. There are several wonderful stores in this area, but hands down, this gallery is my favorite of all of them. There is a nice combination of price point, so wether you are a local or tourist, you will probably find something delightful for yourself, or even better, a really special, unusual gift. I have been in several times, always finding interesting things through out. I have noticed the store has a larger inventory before the holiday season, for obvious reasons. I've been hesitant to write this review, because like the last reviewer, Jamie seemed like a really…read morenice guy. He was prompt in answering my questions before placing the order. I drove to his location in Rhode Island from Boston twice (once to look at his operation and then a second time to choose the wood slabs to be used for my table) When the table arrived it had been damaged during transport. There were also some areas of the table that hadn't been properly treated. It certainly doesn't look like a $6,000 table. I spoke with him over the phone while his guys were still in my home. He assured me that it was an easy fix that could be done on site so there was no need to send it back. That was in December! His response to multiple conversations was always that he would take care of it. 6 months later and I have to look at a table that makes me angry every single day. DO NOT purchase a custom table from Green Mountain Table. He's a great salesman, but absolutely does not stand behind his products. I've even texted and asked him to take the table back and just give me a refund with no response. I've resorted to texting because I'm so furious I don't think I could speak to him anymore. At the time of my delivery he was stressed because he was opening another showroom so I told him it wasn't a rush to fix the damage. I've learned that giving him the benefit of the doubt and trusting him was a big mistake.
