Meeting the Director of this location was a breath of fresh air. This center is headed with the experience in education that is so surely missed at chain learning centers. I have a an advanced degree, taught special education and Montessori, have been the keynote at a Texas University and am a published writer. The kids like this place for the toys, they have a good motivation system but the things that they are doing is not challenging to the kids. They said they would retest to get my son up to a different level but never did. If you're looking to leave your kids in front of an iPad for them to do the work, I am sure there are other ways to go about it rather than through Sylvan. We have to jump through hoops to get something rescheduled. They have rules for everything and make rescheduling impossible. I'm glad we're canceling this. read more

If I could give it no stars I would. Since the new coordinator/receptionist Denis Scott has taken over the location has become terrible to work with. She is very rude over the phone and in person. Terrible personality for customer service. We spent over $6500 in aide for our kids and loved the service and instructors until she became part of the Southlake staff. We are leaving this location due to not Sylvan but this terrible employee. read more

My son is not the fastest at learning and is a great chatterbox. He is not Language focused and was behind at school with a large jump he had to make as we start to move Country. The teachers and management team are very helpful, keeping him on track and making sure that he stays focused. Their communication is clear and there is nothing they cannot seem to help you with. He is excelling at a great rate and love to go straight to Sylvan straight after a long day at school. His confidence is growing with reading and explaining things. His vocabulary is expanding and he loves to read now. It has been a total turn around from barely reading at the beginning of the year, to now reading chapter books on his own. We have used this branch twice for my son, once in 3rd grade and again in 8th. Both times they have accurately pinpointed where he was lacking and successfully brought his skill set up to, or exceeding where it needed to be. If I could give Southlake Sylvan 10 stars I would. I was enrolled in their SAT prep program. For $1,000 I got 2 books (stuffed with helpful information) and superb instruction (in a group of 3 or less other kids). I came into my Sylvan consultation with an SAT score of 1490 and I was devastated. I didn't think there was anyone out there that could help me because Timmaron College Prep didn't do anything for me except steal my parents' money. My mom enrolled me in the Sylvan program and after the 2 months there, I was SO SO much more confident. I took the test and I ended up with an 1800. That means I'm not going to have to take the SAT again and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the Sylvan of Southlake team (specifically Ms. Laura and Ms. Eileen)! Thank you guys so much! If you're going to sign up for an intensive SAT course, Sylvan is the way to go 100%! read more

Excellent Teaching Environment that instills a passion for learning. Sylvan Learning in Southlake has been an essential component to our son's development over the past 2 years. The team at the center in Southlake did a great job of following a fun and engaging curriculum while truly focusing on our son's every need. Part of our love for this place was that the director (Denise) is an excellent communicator and she welcomed conversations regarding our son's needs and improvement. My middle school child was enrolled in Sylvan for difficulties in math. Sylvan's testing suggested that she was above grade level, which certainly did not correlate with her struggles in school. Further, formal academic and IQ testing substantiated that Sylvan's assessment was off base. During the year in which she went to Sylvan, the financial expenditure was significant but made no difference in my child's confidence, math skills, or math grade. Furthermore, the tutors often did not know the material, and the very math problems they assisted her with, were often wrong. This futher confused my daughter. You are better off getting a private tutor. Southlake Sylvan is just a money mill, playing on dedicated parents' concerns regarding their children's academic performance. Those who do well with Sylvan would do well anyway. read more

We have seen our son flourish under the guidance of Sylvan Learning in Southlake. More importantly, they have helped our son develop a love for learning. The team here is nothing short of amazing. They value a partnership with the parents. Our son learned the curriculum but the staff also provided a push in the areas where he needed the most improvement.
