He just completed his first year at the University of Arkansas and did great. My soon to be senior in high school daughter, received Physics tutoring and after a few sessions had an "Aha moment," she got it! Her tutor was patient and funny -- she needed both attributes. She is currently going through the ACT test prep and will take the ACT in October (fingers crossed). Alex has been wonderful to work with, flexible, accommodating and encouraging to my kids. Our son has been in the program for over year. He is in there 2 times per week (1hr each session). He started out a little behind going into 1st grade and is now halfway through 2nd. His reading is now beyond grade level and he is doing excellent in math. His overall grades are in the high 90s (worst subject was 96). I am confident to say that without Gideon we would still be playing a bit of "catch-up." My personal opinion...you do have to put the work in at home. If you are expecting a "miracle" after a month or two, I honestly do not think any learning center will fit the bill. It takes time and dedication to make sure our son is doing the work at home and prepared for the next challenge at class. (Yes we do trade Gideon homework for electronics time!) Again, this is a great center and I would highly recommend.

We are very pleased to join this center although we have to commute from Plano but it's worth it. I have tried kumon (multiple centers in Plano) before and was complete failure. Didn't like their curriculum, neither the way of teaching. The experience was terrible for the amount of money you pay. My daughter will be there for 5-10 minutes with many other kids per teacher without consistency or care about student progression and then will send her home with meaningless homeworks. So far we LOVE Gideon (although you have to be committed for the tremendous amount of work at home) so far we don't regret it!

My husband and I have been extremely pleased with their progress and feel that anyone who has a child struggling or just wanting to get ahead would be well advised to consider the program. Their curriculum and teaching style has been effective with our children. The only thing I wished they offered was transportation after school for working moms/dads that are pressed to get them there. Carl is easily accessible and always eager to discuss your child's progress. They understand that every child learns differently and are able to cater to each kiddos needs. We cannot always get back to pick them up in one hour each time and they are willing to let our kids quietly read of do other homework until we are able to get them. Just another example of how they will cater to your needs and are flexible. I highly recommend the program!

I am TOTALLY DISGUSTED by Coyote Ridge Elementary School. My daughter has gone there since the 1st…read moregrade. I let them know yesterday that we now lived in Peters Colony District and would be transferring her there. They told me at the time of filling out her withdrawal papers Friday, that they would collect her books and iPad.... Understandable. Well they decided that they would do it TODAY instead... Leaving her with nothing when she has yet one more day there, mortifying my child in front of her entire class. OH AND THIS IS NOT ALL. At the beginning of the year, her lunch card ran out of money and the auto-notification that usually sends emails to me to let me know what her balance is low was not functioning properly. There was a day they actually did not give her lunch because they said her lunch card was out of money. They also threatened to not give her lunch the following day if I did not fill up her card. I called the lunch lady about this directly and they promised me someone would call and they never did.. Who does that?? A few days ago Chloe had pretty extensive surgery on her hands and I emailed her teacher, Mrs. Wittenauer and asked her to please email me and send her to the nurse if her hands started hurting too badly. I never heard back from her teacher and at the end of the day Chloe told me her hands were hurting so bad she felt sick to her stomach and her teacher would not let her go to the nurse. Awful. A few days ago, myself as well as a few other parents pulled up to the school a few minutes before the bell was about to ring and one of the administrators walked in the door that's on the side of the building and let the door slam in three kids faces, knowing they were standing right there. Despite needing to get to work, I parked my car got out and escorted these kids to the front of the building way around the other side to make sure that they got in safely. The principal herself Mrs. Jacobsen told me to my face "Well that's why we ask parents to bring them around to the front if they're late." WELL HOW ABOUT MAKING SURE OR KIDS ARE SAFE ALSO INCASE PARENTS HAVE ALREADY PULLED OFF?? Well luckily I was still there to help those kids get in okay. Again who does this? Anytime there's a fundraiser we bring many many dollars to the table. Not that that's everything but we always contribute to and support the school. The Halloween party they throw annually is a total sham. What working parent can get to a party by 6:00 PM and really in truly do everything that they have there by 8:00 PM? Plus, when Chloe first started at the school, the lunch lady came up to my daughter in front of everyone and YELLED in her face (another parent told me this!!!) because she accidentally took a milk and didn't know it didn't come with a lunch and "did not pay for it." My daughter was terrified to go back to school for a week and I never got an apology for that one... All in all I can honestly say I am thankful that we are no longer going to be a part of Coyote Ridge and I am beyond disappointed and the staff.
