Most of this campground is occupied by long term residents. They have just opened a new section, section P, that is where we are camped. It's quiet but I have a few issues. One, there are NO trees in this field we are camped in. No shade means our air conditioner runs NON STOP. Also the grading over here is terrible. There are low spots all over the place and you really have to watch where you are going so you don't break an ankle. Another is the mosquitos! OMG they are awful!!!! There are two stagnant ponds in this campground and they are both contributing to the overwhelming amount of blood suckers! They seriously need Mosquito Joes out here ASAP and they need to add fountains to the stagnant ponds to keep the water moving. We used the large, clean laundry room and at a $1.50 a load I almost wished I'd have had more laundry hahaha! We used the game room while doing our laundry. Pool tables, air hockey, etc.. They have a small store at the registration office with lots of goodies and essentials. More signage is needed to direct you to the campground office. GPS had us at a house at the beginning of the road and we were really afraid we were in the wrong place and wouldn't be able to turn around while pulling our Jeep. Luckily we found it. There's a large playground here for the kiddos and they have lots of different weekly activities for residents and guests. They also have a boat ramp and marina on Cross Lake. Overall we had a nice stay but I wouldn't stay in the new section again in the summer. Bring your bug spray!!!

We loved having a full kitchen and a grill to cook. We love to go out to eat on vacation but sometimes it's nice to just stay back and enjoy the place where you are staying. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Grant and Chris both helped us through some questions we had and they were beyond nice and welcoming. You could tell they were so proud of the environment they have built here. The best part of The Cove is the pontoon boat you get with each rental. As a boating novice we had plenty of questions. Luckily I was able to find Dale who really helped us learn the tricks of handling the pontoon boat. Having access to your own boat really made this trip special. We rented a tube for tubing and spent most of our days on the lake. The most relaxed I have been in a long time was when we went to the middle of the lake with no one around, turned off the boat, dropped anchor (thanks to Dale showing us how to do that) and just relaxed. The kids played card games, we had lunch and there was nothing to do but enjoy the surroundings. In addition to the boat the kids really loved the pool and playground. The playground was more like a small adventure park to the kids. At night the Cove had movies on the lawn. They watched Encanto and Top Gun Maverick. While the kids were watching the movie my wife and I sat around our fire pit (your first bundle of wood was included). My kid's asked if we could go back again next year. To me that is a sign of somewhere special.

The property is on the National Register of Historic Places. It's on a large piece of land, ideal for getting away from urban life and enjoying the quiet. There are only two rooms. My husband and I stayed in Laura's room, which was beautiful. Actually, the whole house looks impeccable. There are free snacks and drinks and a living room area guests can use downstairs. When we went in the summer we were woken up early by the sound of many birds singing. Then we had breakfast. We're not usually breakfast-people, but the fresh fruit and mint ( some from the garden) with yogurt, honey and preserved lemon were incredible. This place made us feel as though we discovered a secret haven. It was really great.

The hospitality of Cathy and Jack for those who stayed overnight in some of the 3 bedrooms we rented for the weekend was 5 star. The daily breakfast was prepared from scratch and was all locally sourced and prepared perfectly. Our wedding day was literally perfect and Frog Pond was a big part of the reason why.
