I was very disappointed in everything except our driver/tour guide. He was fabulous and worked incredibly hard for us. The company was very expensive ($1000 a day) and I did not like their advice on what to see. The places they booked us (we were not put in 5 star riad when there were 5 star ones available and charged same amount) and the riads they chose were very long walk to get to. They booked us for the Yves St Laurent garden instead of the museum. There were many spots to see they didn't mention. They had us driving all over when there were better options. There were many places we should have visited such as Dyers District (silk & cashmere fabric & scarves). We had lunches included (they did these on the cheap) and their recommendations for dinner were the same sort of food every night. I felt they took us to shops that were overpriced and probably giving them a kickback. Would have preferred to have gone to Max & Jen, Michi, Rue 33 Majorelle, El Fenn Hotel Boutique and Rooftop Bar, etc. Next time, check Yelp, Trip Advisor or elsie green blog first! read more

We were lucky enough to spend two weeks in Morocco and I just want to say that this was one of the most positive experiences and trips I've had. Namir, our driver, was above and beyond the call of duty and truly made us feel like we were members of his family. He took such good care of us and even though I'm old enough to be his mother I kept referring to him as my father since he guided us and wouldn't allow us to do anything that could hurt us in the end. We loved Morocco and the people and felt that each place that we visited was unique and special and it's hard to pick a favorite. Of course our night in the desert was a once in a life time experience and probably was one of the highlights but we equally enjoyed all of the other places we visited. The Riads we stayed in were outstanding and once again the people we met in our stays just added to the enrichment of our trip. I will recommend this company to everyone I know and am so thankful that I stumbled upon them. We spent two weeks in Spain afterwards so it was a whirlwind trip but our time in Morocco was definitely the highlight of this entire experience. I've been to Morocco a total of seven times (60s and 70s) and I was thrilled to finally be able to show my 33-year-old son the country I love so much. The crew (Kit and Ruth) put it all together for us. Our driver Hamid made it all happen in real time. Though he's from Fez, Hamid knows the entire country like the back of his hand. He fluent in English, very engaging, patient with my son's social media obsession, kept us on track, gave us the history, and turned into my son's "big brother from another mother" as he guided my son how to conduct himself in this magical Muslim kingdom. It was a perfect two weeks that took us from Chefchaouen in the Rif Mountains in the north to the Imperial cities, through the Middle Atlas to the Sahara, to the Todra Gorge in the High Atlas to movie sets in Quarzazate, to the red city of Marrakech, to Essaouira at the beach. This trip will impact my son for a lifetime, like it did for me so many years ago. I was able to visit so many places I'd been to long ago and see them with a new set of eyes. Everywhere we went, we saw people who looked just like us because Morocco is the home of our ancestors. Update: While in Marrakech, while walking down the street with our driver Hamid, my son Jas met the woman who will become his future wife! It just doesn't get any better than that. read more

We chose the classic Morocco tour, 11 days, and modified a bit based on the sites we wanted to see with ease and had great communication with Lorre and Ruth. They were incredibly organized throughout and I felt completely taken care of during the entire process. Ahmed was a great driver and we enjoyed his company throughout the trip. The guides were well educated in the background of each of their cities and spoke very good english and took us to many interesting sites and showed us the daily life in the cities. My personal favorites were Marrakesh and Rabat and my husband's were Fes and Rabat, Ifrane was a cute little stop too! We had a full moon during our night in the desert and it was neat to see all the moon-shadows on the dunes. The ATV ride was thrilling as well! I was especially delighted that I didn't have any bad reactions to gluten (I have celiac disease) which is amazing since bread is everywhere! In fact two of the riads went out of their way to make me my own breads and tarts, even enough to bring with me for several other meals - amazing!! It truly was a magical honeymoon, more than we even imagined, and a wonderful country! read more

This was my first time using this tour company and based on my experience with them in planning the trip, I would have given them 5 stars and really thought I would stay at that rating after the trip as well, but sadly, based on my experience with them after the trip was over, I am being generous with giving them 3 stars. First, the positives- as I said, they were great throughout the planning process with customizing the tour for my friend and I and communicating in a timely, caring fashion. The highlights of the tour were our great driver, Driss, the riads we stayed in were clean and beautiful, and we really did cover a lot in the 8 days of actual touring (we did the 4 Imperial cities tour + an overnight in the Sahara desert with camel rides). As for the negatives- even though the tour company specifically asks for your dietary restrictions and allergies, this was disregarded in one of the riads and I was lucky to avoid a full-blown anaphylactic reaction when I was served a banana yogurt which was presented as plain yogurt (I'm highly allergic to bananas). Another riad prepared our room with rose petals all over and a king sized bed even though the tour company was made aware that we were two friends traveling together and needed two beds each time. Lastly, two of the local guides were quite insulting and aggressive to the point of making us feel very uncomfortable. The day after we returned from the tour, I called one of the staff that I had dealt with the most during the planning process thinking she would welcome hearing some feedback from me. I was immediately cut off mid-sentence and told that it was another staff-member that handles feedback. I said ok and waited to hear from that other staff member. She did email me the next day asking for feedback so I took the time to email back a very detailed account of our experiences - both positive and negative but requested that we get on a call to discuss the experience we had with the two local guides. After two days of no response from her, I emailed the first staff member I had originally called and asked her for assistance in getting a response. I finally then got an email from the staff member in charge of the feedback only to be told that rather than granting my request for a phone conversation, she wanted me to email her details about the two local guides. So, once again, I obliged and emailed her a very detailed description, including the aggressive, not so nice comments one of the guides had made toward me. You would think that after all that, she would email me at the very least an acknowledgement if not an apology for what we went through with these guides, but instead, I only received a reply in regard to letting our driver know that I had tried to contact him about a mirror he was trying to get a shop to fix for me and ship to me after it had broken due to their poor packaging of it. So, I emailed her back directly asking if she had anything to say in regard to our unpleasant experience with the guides and that's when she finally said that they have received similar complaints about the one guide from previous tourists but also have received good comments about him so there's really nothing they can do about him. I found this response truly appalling and cannot understand how a company that in all other aspects (especially the planning process) is so excellent in their customer service, but then after the tour, pretty much seems to do a 180 and caring for its clients' satisfaction goes out the window once the tour is over. I actually had a friend who was following my tour on Facebook as I was documenting it in photos who asked me for the name of the tour company and my itinerary so that she could take this same tour with her son next year, but after all this, I honestly do not feel comfortable subjecting her and her 13-year-old son to having to deal with the local guides this company chooses to employ since they do not feel it necessary to do anything about them, even after multiple complaints. Finally, to add insult to injury, two end tables that I had purchased and a lamp that my friend purchased at an antique co-op shop that the local guide in Fes took us to arrived via DHL damaged, but not due to DHL mishandling them since the outside of the wooden packaging was completely in tact, but because the shop did not package them well inside the boxes and put tape on the leather parts of the one table which then tore the leather off. The guide kept reassuring us that the main reason to buy in the co-op shops rather than the outdoor souks is because the co-ops are monitored by the government to ensure that they ship authentic items in non-damaged condition and if they arrive damaged, the co-ops are responsible for remedying the damage. Well, I have emailed the shop already twice with photos and have yet to get a response. Our driver is trying to get the local guide to assist with this. read more

Experience It Tours, 8 days, 7 nights Private Tour Package: Experience It Tours worked tirelessly with us to schedule our dream trip to Morocco and our expectations were met and exceeded. Thanks to Bethany and Ruth in the US, Jill in Morocco, and the entire EIT family. Drivers and Guides: Our tour drivers, Mohammed and Hatim, guides Lofti in Chefchaouen and Hassane in Fez, were delightful, accommodating to our specific interests and were professional and knowledgeable. Our plan included a self guided tour of Chefchaouen, however, when we realized the size of the town, we wished for a guide. Mohammed was able to make arrangements for an excellent guide (Lofti) at the last minute. Mohammed was also instrumental in securing our excellent guide in Fez, Hassane. If you need a guide in Fez, you will not find a better one than Hassane (hassanefez@gmail.com). The pace of the tour, information and history provided and assistance with everything from photos to securing those special items to take home were all exceptional. He also introduced us to lunch at Restaurant Nejjarine. It was the best Moroccan meal of our trip. Everything was delicious, but the Chicken Pastilla was a dish from heaven. Lunch at Restaurant Nejjarine is not to be missed. Driver Hatim was generous and attentive. One morning he brought us delicious pomegranates - Moroccan pomegranates are very very sweet, unlike those found in the US. Another day he brought tom toms and a tambourine after I had been unsuccessful the previous day in locating a souvenir for a child. The instruments were like the ones we saw played by Moroccan children in the streets in Marrakech. It was perfect and very thoughtful. Accommodations: Accommodations arranged in Riads in Rabat, Riad The Repose; in Chefchaouen, Dar Meziana; in Fez, Dar Al Madina Al Kadima; and in Marrakech, Riad Boussa, were an exotic and cultural addition to the trip, and we highly recommend that experience. They were half board and included breakfast and dinner. Riad The Repose (Jan) and Riad Boussa (Brigitte) are owner hosted small riads that gave us the feeling of being guests in their homes. It was lovely. The service and food were exceptional. Tour: Our tour included primarily historic sites in Rabat, Meknes and Volubilis. Chefchaoeun (The Blue City) was added at our special request. Although it is a bit out of the way, we wouldn't have traded seeing it for anything. We started our tour early in the morning while the streets were still empty. It was enchanting. Down every pathway is a view worthy of a water color painting. It is a working village and more beautiful than we had imagined, a hidden diamond. The walled cities of Fez and Marrakech are like stepping back in history, filled with artisans, wares, merchants, cafes, song and dance and food - definitely bucket list stops. We also chose to visit the Atlas Mountains, specifically the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site, as well as to see the Berber villages tucked away on the mountains. Our drivers thoughtfully advised us that this would be a very long day from Marrakech and return. They were right, but we were not disappointed and were happy that we had the experience. US Traveler Tip: One traveler took US dollars to exchange at the bank in Casablanca airport. One traveler used ATM withdrawal for Moroccan Dirhams. Our experience was that ATMs limit withdrawals to 2000 dirhams per day, which is about $200 USD. The ATM got 5 visits for sufficient Moroccan currency throughout the trip. Even though the credit card had no foreign transaction fee, the fee per withdrawal was $10 USD, or a $50 charge, 5%. Just an FYI. read more

This was my first non-European trip so this trip to Morocco was very special, and I knew it would always remain in my memories as a first. It couldn't have been better! Our driver was Ahmed, and he was friendly, knowlegeable, and tri-lingual. He drove us carefully around Morocco, and he always made sure we stopped at clean restrooms. One memorable stop was a gas station with a store, which served fresh chicken tagine. We sat outside in the back on a patio and couldn't believe we could get such great food at such a humble place. Try finding that in the U.S.! Our riads were beautiful, and he made sure we got in OK. We frequently ate freshly made food at our riad, or Ahmed would take us to a restaurant. He also made sure that both of us ladies were introduced to our guides for our tours. Our guides were excellent in their knowledge of history and English and took us off the beaten path so we could see the real Morocco. When we drove from city to city, our driver stopped at a national park so we could see monkeys and feed them. What an experience! We also stopped at movie studios and scenic overlooks since we were both into photography. I couldn't have asked for more. My friend paid $300 less for a tour with 18 people, no private driver, and, as she described it, dingy hotels. I think we got an amazing bargain for an amazing experience. I'd definitely use Experience It! again and would advise my friends to as well. Fast responses to emails or calls to the home office to a wonderful folder full of information on our tours as well as in-country contacts make Experience It! a top-flight tour company. Experience It! provided us with the trip of a lifetime to Morocco! My friend and I had an awesome trip around Morocco courtesy of Experience It! Our private driver Khalid the Fessi was not only more skilled than most NYC cab drivers and had committed to memory the unmarked roads to all kinds of cool sites, but with a university degree in English he could communicate with us better than many Americans I know. The fact that my friend and I didn't speak a word of French nor Arabic was not a problem thanks to Khalid and our other guides. Khalid apparently knows his way around Morocco so well that other tour drivers often call him for help! We changed our itinerary twice to exclude then include the Sahara (six weeks before the trip and during the trip), and Lorre and Aaron at Experience It! patiently made our requested changes. The Sahara wound up being the highlight of our trip. At one point, I had been reluctant to visit the Sahara out of concerns for safety but we felt totally safe during this trip. Although we were traveling as two women we were hardly harassed at all. Most of the time we were out and about, there was a guide or Khalid with us, so the touts and vendors left us alone. I did meet a woman in Marrakech who was traveling alone without any tour company who complained about being harassed whenever she left her riad. Although I'm the type who generally eschews package tours, at hearing this I was quite grateful that Experience It! had arranged a guided tour for us in each city. We got to enjoy the highlights and beauty of each place without harassment this way. Plus there's no way we would have found our way around some of the medinas with no guide without getting seriously lost. Another reason I think Experience It! may be better than their competitors in Morocco--four female friends who recently visited Morocco with another company consistently got stuck with both sets of women in rooms with only one bed, despite having clearly requested separate beds for each woman. As much as I like the friend with whom I went to Morocco, I'm quite happy Experience It! correctly got us two beds in each room so I never had to share a bed with her. Experience It! also communicated well to each of our hotels the need for outlets near the beds for CPAP machines. At our hotel in the Sahara, I ran into a driver who also works with Experience It, Abdeljalil Bouabid. He also spoke very good English. When I casually mentioned a concern about something related to my hotel stay, he went out of his way to explain the situation to the hotel staff to make sure all my needs were being met. When I decided to take a short walk on the dunes alone before that evening's camel ride, he offered to go with me to be sure I'd be okay. Wow, what hospitality! Although we didn't get to experience Abdeljalil's driving any point, based on this interaction I'd recommend him too. Khalid took care to make sure my food didn't contain shellfish, and my friend's food didn't contain gluten and dairy. She survived the entire trip without suffering from her gluten/dairy allergy thanks to Khalid! He helped make sure she got eggs at breakfast and potatoes or rice at each lunch and dinner. She had brought about 30 gluten-free granola bars with her just in case, but wound up eating only one or so over the course of the trip. I did get quite sick at one point during the trip, and was very grateful to have a private driver who spoke good English while going through this. I was glad not to be on a cheap giant bus tour or trying to navigate public transit while needing to stop for the bathroom every hour. While I had my fever, I was in more than a little bit of discomfort from the Moroccan heat while outside. Khalid recommended that when I visited the Sahara, I stay in the air-conditioned hotel on the edge of the dunes and my friend who can stand the heat a lot better go and stay in the Berber tents a 90-minute camel ride away. I felt considerable envy watching most of the other tourists ride away from the hotel on camels that evening. However, I had a great time looking at the stars from the edge of the dunes that night. I heard from my friend the next morning that I would have hated the warm tents and sand blowing into everything. She would stay in the tents again in a heartbeat, though. Score another point for Khalid the super-driver. My recommendations: 1. Trust Experience It! 's suggestions for itineraries--they know what the coolest things to see are 2. Trust your driver to help tailor your trip to meet your needs and desired comfort level 3. Be very careful with your camera in the Sahara--cameras don't like sand At a little under $4000 for two weeks of hotels, meals, tours, and a driver (plus extra for tips/lunches), this was the most expensive 2-week vacation I had ever taken. It was worth *every penny*. I would recommend Experience It! to anyone looking to travel to the countries they cover in Africa. read more

We were so fortunate to have chosen this company for our 14 day custom tour of Morocco. They answered every detailed question we had before our trip. We were also so very fortunate to have Abdelhadi Chahine as our driver/guide. He was extremely patient, kind, and knowledgeable. We easily conversed about numerous things and he was quite forthcoming about various aspects of life in Morocco. How refreshing! He really did go out of his way to make us comfortable, warmly helping my somewhat challenged traveling companion whenever needed. We just returned from a 10 day private (2 people) custom tour of Morocco with Experience IT Tours. We had a private driver/guide in a Mercedes SUV and basically covered the major cities in Morocco and crossed the Atlas mountains twice: brief stop in Rabat, then Chefshouen, Fes, a night in the desert from Merzouga, Quarzazate, Marrakech and Casablanca. It was a lot to cover in 10 days but there is nothing I would have wanted to cut out. We took the Magical 10 day tour they offered which then they customized for us because we did not want to miss Chefshouen which, along with the night in the desert, were among the highlights. My husband and I did the five star accommodations tour and the price was still very reasonable. I highly recommend going for the five star Riad accommodations. For the most part, we had world class hotels for a third of the price you would pay for them in Europe. And the camel ride and desert superior tent accommodations were magical. But the highlight of our tour was our driver/guide, Youseff Maamri, who became our friend. He was an excellent driver and guide--extremely knowledgeable and interesting as well as a pleasure to be with. Because of all the places we wanted to see, we were driving a lot so Youseff was even more essential to our learning about Morocco and enjoyment of the trip. This was the ultimate best way to see morocco in all its beauty as an American couple. The riads were top notch. The driver Gjamal ghennem was outstanding, really the best most attentive and experienced driver in my 35 years of travel in this world of ours. Speaks English, fluently and of course French, Berber dialects, Arabic. Showed us things along the way, from Nomads in the desert, to macaque monkeys in the wild, accompanied us to our tents in the sahara sleeping next to us even arranged for a refresher dip in a pool on a searing day while on route. I had pne lost baggage....he retrieved it. Waited 4 hours for us to clear the line when we arrived. Fantastic man, mature, likable, affable and knowledgeable and really a lot of fun. Just adk for the driver who looks like Adam Sandler. I hope to keep in life long contact with him. Experiece it tours is an experienced outfit. They really keep in touch, check on things for you. While there we had to make a quick change of hotel..they helped. Charge was minimal. They know how to put a trip together. And keep it running smoothly. They hire the guides. Again knowledgeable. Azzadin and Said were great. Azzadin knows the Fes Medina and is a great conversationalist. Said in Marrakech is a Berber guide with an amazing fund of knowledge. We had our vacation Dec 1st - 10th 2016.. Experience It did a tremendous job. Our trip was fantastic, no issues, no complaints, it exceeded our expectations on all levels. This was mostly due to our being lucky enough to be paired with Namir Mohammad. This was our first time taking any kind of tour. Typically we do everything ourselves, and in Europe/Mexico it always worked out well. When deciding on Morocco we had a recommendation from a couple we met at JFK, and after talking to EIT we felt confident we were with the right company. We used one of the basic tours as a starting point, but we customized it to suit our interests. We were very happy with the guides we had in both Fes and Marrakech. (Hakeem + Said (Saad?) -Traveling to a foreign place, your experience is created by the people you interact with as well as the places you visit and stay. On all levels we were completely and totally satisfied with everything! With the guides we were able to efficiently visit all the places we wished to see -plus a few more. More importantly they both had an intense pride in their Moroccan heritage, and provided a tremendous amount of historical context at each place. All the Riads we stayed in were amazing. The accommodations and service were all first-class. We are both very interested in architecture, staying in these refurbished Riads was such a rare opportunity -it is something I will always remember. read more

This is a great company. My wife and I could not finalize our plans until about 10 days before we wanted to leave. Experience It was able to adjust and provide. Our tri-lingual driver and guide was Youssef, who was excellent. We did the Imperial Cities tour, and he had friends in every city. He had very good knowledge of the sites, the cities, the people. The Riads they picked were outstanding. The day in the souk in Fez was fascinating. No real harrassment with Youssef along with us, though some pretty strong selling attempts a couple places where he took us to see the local crafts. We vowed not to buy another oriental rug, already owning five, but couldn't resist a Berber tribal rug. It was nicely wraped for carrying onto the plane. When we were leaving, at the airport security gate, the "TSA" man insisted I could not take the carpet, that the two personal items for carry on was only for women. Youssef had stayed with us at the airport even though we told him to go. He brow beat the man into letting me take the rug and my brief case. So, we were taken care of from beginning to the very end.
