    Chilli shrimp
    Farheen S.

My family has been going to Szechuan Gourmet for over a decade and a half now. It's a family go to for sure. Food: 1) Chilli shrimp - battered jumbo shrimp fried and tossed in fried garlic, chillis and onions. SO GOOD! Crispy, flavourful, delicious. 2) Crispy Beef - strips of beef fried and tossed in a sweet soy chilli sauce. Very good as well, on the sweet side Service: just okay. Staff isn't the most friendly or attentive, but they are quick and efficient. They're always busy on weekend nights but they do take reservations. Atmosphere is clean, well lit, but nothing special. No frills here. Prices are okay, our family of four orders 2 shrimps, 1 beef and 1 rice and I believe it comes to about $70 with leftovers.

This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants to order take out from. The menu has a variety of items and the flavor never fails! My family ordered takeout for 8 people and we got a lot of food for less then $100! That's a good deal! We ordered a variety of dishes like house special fried noodles. House special fried rice. Lemon chicken, sliced beef with garlic sauce, mixed bean curd with vegetables, BBQ ribs, chicken wings and crispy shrimp. The food always gets delivered fast and fresh, and the customer service is top notch!

There are so many different Chinese restaurants around it is hard to decide which one to try or where to go... Szechuan is my favorite, their food is so good it is like being a little kid having some candy. They are VERY fast, I have never seen food cooked so fast in my life. If you are looking for some fabulous Chinese food look no further, everyone should try this restaurant!!!!

Came here for lunch to try this infamous Ginger Chicken dish that's been yelped so heavily about. So out it came. It was chicken breast strips, coated in a light crispy batter. Deep fried and liberally splashed with this intensely sweet and spicy dark brown sauce. At first, like tequila it's fun the first time. But after awhile it becomes tiring. I felt the need a little more variety, perhaps some vegetables or something else to counter the flavours. After a while I felt like I was eating Ginger Chicken Candy. Crunch, crunch crunh. It was alright, but I'll have to go back with some people to try some other dishes. My Ginger Chicken combo came with soup to start (choose from wonton, hot and sour, egg drop) plus a bowl of white rice. Oh one thing I didn't like during my meal, the lady at the front booth, just stands there staring. I was being watched my every move.. Hmm..

Food: I got to try the Biang Biang Noodles with minced pork, tomato and egg and their signature Wanza Noodles with minced pork and yellow peas. Both dishes were so yummy! The noodles tasted fresh and spice-level was good. The table next door recommended the Cumin Beef Noodles which I'll try next time. I got to try the milk skin yogurt. It is super creamy and simple, tastes like thick milk. Service/atmosphere: When you arrive, there is a tablet to enter yourself into the waitlist. This restaurant is great for groups of 2 and 4. There's really not much room in the restaurant to wait, so most people were waiting outside. Luckily the weather was so pleasant. The restaurant is on the smaller side. Once we were seated, our order was taken promptly and the food came out pretty quickly. We got the signature wanza noodles, stir fried noodles with chicken, pork belly skewers and cucumber salad. The stand out dishes for me were the wanza noodles and pork belly skewers. I made sure to get the noodles with less spice which was the right choice for me. It still had some heat to it but it didn't overpower the dish. I liked the seasoning on the pork belly skewers - very flavourful and yummy. Service was efficient. I will definitely return and try some of their other menu items.

Lucky me, they do delivery for a $3.00 charge. They said I can text to place the order which is absolutely convenient. Text order placed 6:26pm by 7:39pm, I finished eating. They accept cash and credit card. I placed the order for the following: 1) Fish fillets in chilli oil (very good spicy level with clear noodle inside) 2) Sweet chilli dry tofu (this was good too but I find it a little on the sweet side. I guess after all, it does say "sweet chilli" I will definitely order from them again. I am a spicy food lover. Usually decent quality spicy fish don't do delivery!

Not the most traditional style but still very flavorful and tasty. If you don't know what fish in hot oil is, be expect to get thick fragrant hot oil layer on the top of your dish because that's what this dish is: pouring hot fragrant oil on the top of spices, meat and other goodies. It's absolutely delicious. There are times it can be bit salty but adding little hot water will solve this issue with no problem. I am not so sure about crayfish from here as my crayfish on rice bowl was made with rubbery frozen crayfish. It was not bad but very tough and lack of flavor due to freezing process. Sauce was not bad. Side dishes are a ok. Good to pair with main dish but not something you must try. I believe rice is extra $ on uber Eat.

I was hoping to find something special on the menu. The Peking duck caught my eye at around $70, but then I discovered that almost everything else was extra--lettuce wraps, stir-fried duck meat, fried rice, and soup. By the time you add the extras, the bill is easily another $50 or more, bringing the total to well over $120. We decided to pass, and judging from the dishes we did order, that was probably the right decision. The hot and sour soup had plenty of heat and tang but lacked depth of flavor and was under-seasoned for my taste. Fortunately, we only ordered a small bowl. The deep-fried tofu was bland and forgettable. The stir-fried shrimp was acceptable but nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the sweet and sour pork. I specifically asked the server to make sure the pork was crispy, but it arrived soft and lumpy rather than light and crunchy. Even the complimentary red bean dessert soup was watery and lacked flavor. Our bill came to about $104 for two people. For the quality of the food, I didn't feel it offered good value. Sadly, after several disappointing visits, I don't think we'll be returning.

I forgot to take pics, but their portions are very generous for the price. Their noodles are hand pulled and you can really tell the difference in the quality. It's more bouncy and filling as they have more substance to them. Their service was very attentive and quick, and while the space of the restaurant is fairly small, there was no wait for 2 of us at 6:30 on a Saturday. Coming with a bigger group may be tougher considering the space. My total bill came to just under $26 after tax and tip, which is very reasonable for the amount and quality of food I got. It comes with sides of pickled "sour" veggies (酸菜), cabbage, tofu, and hard boiled egg. The pork knuckle almost melts in your mouth and is so decadent with the BBQ sauce.
