I immediately took it to an oil shop, assuming it might be something simple. Turns out it was anything but. The car was retaining NO oil because the oil filter housing unit was broken and the filter itself was loose. Let that sink in. The mechanic was flabbergasted and flat-out said he could not believe a dealership sold a vehicle in this condition. This wasn't a minor oversight -- this was a serious mechanical issue that could have destroyed the engine if I had driven it any longer. This tells me one of two things: 1. The vehicle was never properly inspected, or 2. It was inspected and sold anyway. Either option is unacceptable. Buying a car should not come with immediate warning lights and a risk of catastrophic engine damage. I trusted this dealership and now I'm left dealing with stress, repairs, and wondering what else was ignored. I would strongly caution anyone considering buying from [Dealership Name] to think twice and get an independent inspection -- clearly, theirs can't be trusted. We will be returning for any car repair needs in the future because I feel this business is fair and reasonable. A well written review without personal vendetta carries much more weight.

The Brickyard has virtually any part or service you might need for a Bricklin. With approximately 5 Bricklins in various stages of repair/rebuild/refurbishment, they can handle anything from the most minor repairs to off the frame complete rebuild. Designed by Herb Grasse of Batmobile fame, these cars had a production run of about 13 months and made about 2900 cars. Model SV-1 came in 5 colors, and they all had acrylic body panels with gull-wing doors. Ride, handling, performance & size closely matched the Chevrolet Corvette of that era. With a full frame and built-in roll cage, this car was definitely ahead of it's time. It would be several years before another gull-wing car (Delorean) would be produced, and likewise for the acrylic paneled Saturn cars. A testament to the brand is that there are over 1500 still in existence today. My Bricklin is in good shape mechanically, but it needs some body work after having been in Texas for decades. That Texas sun, along with natural aging, tends to put cosmetic cracks in the body panels. I found Bob's Brickyard easily capable of handling the task at hand.

The mechanic called my house and said the car was junk and it would cost around a thousand dollars to fix. How he determined the cost for repair i don't know because he did not even know what the problem was. I went to the shop and tried to tell the mechanic the part that was bad but he would not listen. They wanted to charge $80.00 but backed off when i asked for what. They then backed off, gave me the keys and told me to leave. I took the car to another local shop near by and told them the problem and the part involved. They said that it was a common problem with this model car. They took it right in and replaced the part with an upgraded one. I also had them do a oil and filter change. Total bill was just a few dollars over $300.00. the car has been running great with no leaks. This was not the first time I had issues with this shop, but it will be the last.
