I spontaneously went in for a pedicure, but also got a manicure (male did my toes, while female sat beside me and did nails). Both were very kind, but I left disappointed. I do not do my nails on regular basis, so it is meant to be a treat. I went in on a Tuesday, but despite minimal use of hands (working at a desk, no dishwashing, etc) my gel mani was chipped by Thursday. I did note when technician did not cap my nail tips. I should have spoke up, but I had already asked her to correct some shaping of nails (another issue) and did not want to be a nuisance. My bad for not speaking up. In fairness, I find many establishments no longer cap. Why? My theory, it brings you in sooner due to chipped nails and this means they increase income. Please provide what the customer is paying for and I assure you I will be a customer for life. So far, my toes are not showing any sign of chipping (regular pedi is out lasting the gel!), but after reviewing the pamphlet description I again did not get what I paid for. Signature pedicure includes mineral callus removal & sugar scrub. I had neither. I understand the high cost of living, but short cutting & not providing the proper service is wrong. Give the customer the service they are paying for & you will not only have a customer for life, but you will set yourself apart from others increasing your volume & income. Wow! Was really impressed with this spot. I can not find good nail spots in Maine. I have been to a hundred nail salons between Portland and Bangor that charge ridiculous prices just to barely touch your cuticles, skip on the massage, screw up your polish and rush you out the door. So honestly I wasn't expecting much here when I decided to walk-in during a mall shopping trip. I was verrrrrry wrong. This place had everything. I got a menu of different pedicure options while they prepped my feet. I went with one that had paraffin. First nail spot in Maine that I've seen offer paraffin. I was thrilled. The spot itself was nicely decorated and calming. I noticed that even had a cute area with children's chairs for children pedicures. The guy who did my pedicure took time with every step. Great cleaning of my cuticles. Great massage. Loved the paraffin treatment. I walked out with immaculate feet & toe nails. And the prices were in line for what they offered. I went there to get an acrylic removal and when removing my nails she did so with a nail clipper and ended up digging into my actual pinky nail and left a hole in the middle of it (it was bleeding). She then proceeded to paint over it and leave it. To top it off she charged me $40 for acrylic removal with shellac manicure... Absurd lol. Not only were my nails all different shapes and sizes, but they were bulky in different areas. They took me as a walk in which was nice. I asked for a gel manicure, and they immediately sat me down and started putting acrylic tips on my nails. I said "sorry, just gel! No acrylics" and that seemed to be annoying for them. I think they were trying to get extra money out of me. I said, "I also haven't picked a color yet". They replied with "later". She has acrylics and had been thinking about having them removed, but decided to get a fill and color change - she was delighted with the results. My nails were a mess- I had someone who obviously still learning so although the manicure took longer than usual she did a great job making my nails look great. $27 for my gel mani and $32 for my daughter's fill and color change. 1/19/20 second visit and it is apparent that the quality of the service depends entirely on who you get. All I wanted was a simple manicure for a treat - just put some nail polish on. I have super short nails and never do anything other than clip them. The technician cut me on 4 different fingers (bleeding) when cutting my cuticles. I don't have any medical conditions or anything that would make it a tricky process. I could have gotten equal results by painting my nails myself (minus the cuts). The technician ignored me and talked to their coworkers in another language the whole time - would have been fine with this if I was sure it didn't contribute to the cuts (not paying full attention). So after a couple of desperate messages to yelpers I thought might be able to help me, Emily A. directed me to T&C Nails for an emergency brazilian wax. Now, you can't rate all waxing places the same. This place is a nail salon. The room they use is ugly, flourescently lit and the place doesn't look like it's super uber clean... as an aside, I'd like to say that people's obsession with the "cleanliness" of a waxing place is a double-edged sword. It's always nice to be somewhere very clean cause it makes you feel good. But unless your waxer has some CRAZY ASS techniques, the stuff they're waxing off you is generally gonna be the germiest stuff in the room. Their technique is much more important for determining whether you're gonna have ingrown hairs or whatnot. Back to the review... the waxing here is BANANAS. B-A-N-A-N-A-S. This is most likely the 2nd most thorough wax I've ever had, after one in Miami Beach. Their obsession with removing every last hair was impressive to say the least, and left me baby-butt smooth. Also this is the CHEAPEST wax I've ever had, INCLUDING the one in Miami Beach. For $55 I got a SICK brazilian, underarms, and eyebrows. That's just insane... especially for around here, where people love to charge like $80 just for the brazilian alone. So if you're the type that needs soothing muzak, a dark wood paneled room and aromatherapy to believe a place is "clean", this is not the place for you. If you are however in the market for a fast and unbelievably thorough and meticulous brazilian wax in a place that's, okay, kind of ugly, but who TF cares when the wax is THIS GOOD, then hightail your hairy self over to T&C and let the lovely ladies who barely speak english but understand the word "brazilian" very well wax all your troubles away. 4.5 stars, rounded to 5. I usually DIY my Brazilian wax. Yep, I'm truly that badass (& cheap). But a couple of times a year, it's nice to just pay somebody else to do it. Way faster, & a lot less contortionism involved. Yelp guided me to T & C Nails, & I'm glad of it! I called ahead & was told a Brazilian wax cost $50, & that I could just drop in anytime. When I arrived, I was immediately whisked off to the waxing room & told to wait a minute for the waxer. She popped in promptly, set up the table, & then left so I could disrobe from the waist down & get situated on the table. My waxer was very thorough, quick, & did probably the least painful wax I've ever had (after several years & over a few states). Her technique is great! And I actually enjoyed the fact that she didn't chat at me the whole time, which allowed me to just zone out & focus on the ceiling tiles. The waxing room is not pretty or spa-like, as others have mentioned. But compared to past waxing experiences in pretty spas, I was done in about 1/2 the time, paid about 1/2 less, & had a more thorough result. I also got a great discount on a basic pedicure, which was a nice way to relax before heading home. If you're more interested in results & economy than in spending 1/2 hour in a lavender-scented, candle-lit room with new-age music, go to T & C Nails & get thine undercarriage groomed! read more

Honestly, this place is horrible and it's a disappointment because I work at the mall. I have plenty of friends who go here and don't seem to have a complaint, but that's just not the case for me. I've gone now probably 4 times and it continues to get worse. The first time I went in for a full set of acrylics and shellac and it wasn't horrible except for being nearly guilted into a pedicure. She asked me about 8 times and every single time I said no that I didn't want to spend the money and I just flat out didn't want it. Nothing I said stopped her from badgering me. The second time was for a fill and I had the same woman. Same story with the badgering for a pedicure and when I said no she dug her thumb nail into my finger as she worked. The third time I decided I wanted a design and another woman tried to snatch my phone out of my hand. She wasn't even the one working on my nails and she grabbed my shoulder and kept interjecting her opinions about what I wanted. The woman doing them insisted she could do it and when the simple zig zag lines I had shown her came out horribly (uneven and sloppy) I politely suggested we try something else and she begrudgingly wiped them off and did something different. The last time I went I had a guy and he was completely disinterested in what he was doing. He did a better job then the first woman but when one of his regulars came in he passed me off to the first woman and disappeared. I'm sure anyone who's had a manicure knows that when they're done they usually rub some lotion on your hands and massage them (it was the only part of the experience I looked forward to) and she literally said "ok you done. 30$" and rushed me out the door. When I brought it up she said " we don't do that" even though they have in every single manicure I've received in my entire life. She ran my card and walked away. I don't think I'll ever go back. I'll drive the extra few miles to go somewhere that the people are pleasant and appreciate my business instead of treating me like garbage. I get my nails done to treat myself and feel nice and I tip well when I receive good service. However I'm not going to turn something positive into a chore and something that stresses me out. I'll be honest, when I got that phone call early one Sunday afternoon, this place was really my only option, as my regular spa was closed. I knew a few girls who had gotten Brazilians here and said it was cheap and pretty clean, so I bit the bullet and went. My first time was not so pleasant, but I was used to a much different atmosphere. Here you walk in, the bring you to the room, you drop your pants and it's on, not quite what I was expecting, but it worked. I've gone back a couple times since then, and since I knew what to expect, everything was cool, plus Amy, one of the waxers, is amazing and will leave no hair unplucked! I've had the following done at T&C, Basic Main and Pedi, Pink and White acrylics, shellac, pink and colored tip acrylics (they have a ton of colors to chose from), pedicure with a scrub and warm towels I've had color done french color with designs french with design, eyebrow and lip waxing... I've pretty much done it all and EVERT SINGLE staff member is wonderful in their own way, they have their own style and way of doing things which is fine because they are all great I stick with Melissa, because she does it the way that I like, once you find 'the one' you'll know trust me...if you read the negative review on T&C that is filtered thru Yelp please dont let this change your mind about them they are amazing... read more

I went here the other day with a friend who had a gift certificate and wanted a manicure. The location is ideal for having an influx of customers, it's right in the Maine Mall (for those of you not familiar with Maine, it's the only place to go shopping in the entire state other than Walmart). When you walk in, you're typically greeted by someone about 10 feet away that's busy working on someone elses nails with a face mask on. Which I guess is a good thing for them, because it means everyone is busy. My most recent time I came in a few minutes later than my friend, who they seated immediately, and rushed me over to my seat next to her. They didn't ask what sort of polish I wanted or anything, just told me to sit at 14. Which was fine, because I wanted a shellac french manicure anyways, but how did they know that? When the lady who did my nails came over she just grabbed my hands and started filing after I told her what I wanted. She didn't ask if I liked my nails square tipped or rounded. Not a huge deal for most people, but I've got weird thumbs that are already square, so adding a square tipped nail to the mix makes matters worse. Needless to say, I ended up with square tipped nails. She did a good job with the manicure other than that, although the hand massage at the end was rough and rushed, which I didn't appreciate. So far my manicure is holding up, but the last time I got shellac done here it was destroyed in under a week. The price for my manicure was $30 dollars, which isn't too bad considering it's supposed to last 2+ weeks. Worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. Went to get dip done lastnight (the place I typically go to was closed at this was a nail emergency lol) and the woman who did my nails was so rude. She was rough and aggressive with my nails. After she removed my old dip she took her nail tool and went to sanding my nails down. I asked her to not sand so much and she looked at me and said, no. I told her the other place I go to doesn't do it and I asked her to stop. She reluctantly did. Then she proceeded to give me the sloppiest manicure. My cuticles were left bloody. My nails, misshapen, different lengths etc. the dip got on the sides of my skin and she wouldn't remove it. A couple of my nails are extra thick and she wouldn't sand it down. Again, she told me, no. I left after she was done and within a couple hours one of my nails broke completely off and tore my real nail. This morning I went back and asked them to fix my nail. She grabbed my hand and twisted it around and proceeded to use that nail tool to remove the dip. Once she got to my nail she turned the tool in such a way where it cut the top of my nail. I pulled my hand away and she snapped at me, demanding my hand back. I told her it hurt and to be more careful and she ignored me. She redid that nail, even more sloppy than lastnight. Uneven, bumpy, misshapen, terrible. I asked her to file the side and clean it up and she wouldn't so I asked to see her nail file and that I would do it myself. So she jerked my hand back and poorly filed. I left. I have a nail file in my purse so I attempted to even it out. Absolutely terrible! The customer service is the worst I've ever experienced, they're unprofessional, and their nail technicians don't seem to have proper training in the dip.
